Lamai Coconut Beach Resort

Room = overall room was nice and clean, comfortable but had issues with A/C and reported to staff and wasn’t corrected nor did they offer to change rooms. Which leads into Service = majority of staff are not from Thailand and it shows in their work ethic, mostly playing on their phones and it seems like an inconvenience when you go to ask questions. Location = It’s on the beach, literally. We were staying poolside which we enjoyed. It’s a short walk to the main road with shopping and food options nearby. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would like to return as long as we had a working A/C.

First of all, if you've found this listing looking for "Coconut Beach" or "Coconut Beach Resort", this is not that place; this is "Lamai Coconut Beach Resort". These are two completely separate places within a 3 minute walk from each other, and they have virtually identical names. I thought I was booking the other place, but it turned out it was this one. But... I'm happy it was this place! Here's why.

1. It's pure nostalgia for the Koh Samui of the 1980s and 1990s, with individual wooden bungalows just meters from the beach. A few of them even look straight out over the beach: if one of those is available: book it. There's also a 4 floor hotel building with some of the rooms having a sea view.

2. The part of Lamai beach the resort is on is completely perfect for couples or families. Soft white sand, even at low tide the sea is still great for swimming. They have great beach chairs and you can order food or drinks; Happy Hour 99 Baht Mohitos and other cocktails start at 4pm will make you very happy.

3. It's also in the middle of Lamai Town, with tons of restaurants, pubs and shops nearby. You couldn't really get more central.

4. It's very well managed; there is a nice swimming pool, everything is clean, the staff is friendly and attentive. Booking the breakfast buffet is worth it; the buffet is extremely typical tourist-class fare of the kind that Thai hotels have been doing for decades. So it's "good". Don't expect imported cheeses or cold cuts or a chocolate fountain.. instead it's the typical deal: very standard ham and little hot dogs, basic cheddar cheese, eggs cooked to order any style or as an omelet, pancakes, jam, honey, pretty average little croissants, white or wholewheat bread, coffee, tea and fruit drinks that are a little too sweet and too colorful. Also cereals, yogurt, salad and fresh Thai fruit. So that's a good breakfast by any reasonable standard and kids will love it. But you're not taking selfies with it. ;)

Overall I will definitely stay here again. 💖

Waterfront bungalows are fantastic.
Good service.
The resort is right on the beach and has lounges under the trees on the sand.
Quiet resort with an older crowd but lots of shops and restaurants all around.
2 night markets within easy 5 min walk.

Staying in older Bungalow just off the beach. It's had it's better bays but it is just fine. Good ac. Bathroom and shower are fine. Great service. 15 steps from beautiful beach. WOW 👌

The rooms here were standard, but clean and met my needs adequately.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.
I’m the short time here I used the restaurant a couple of times, which is situated right near the beach. The staff in the restaurant area were very friendly and certainly made a difference.
There is a laundry service here also, with next day returns.
There was bike and car hire both accessible, however I can’t give you the prices as I sourced my own.
My room overlooked the pool which is also saw been cleaned daily.
If you wanted there was also the hire of a jet ski for 20 minutes at a time.
The hotel is situated in the hustle and bustle of the walking street with all sorts of shops and restaurants.
All in all for a modest price, clean, good staff, central to night life, I would go back again.

Rooms are fine, brand new matress was put in during my stay (very comfortable), staff is generally friendly but a little aloof, location is very good. For the price it’s ok for Lamai but don’t expect luxury level accomodation or service. Go for the top floor rooms with sea view, great value for money with stunning view every morning.

We ( a couple) picked up this hotel randomly after arrival to Samui. Initially we planed to stay only 1 night. But in the end we stayed 12 nights:) The hotel has perfect location, its near by the most beautiful beach and on the other hand near by streets with bars and restaurants. Because it is located on an calm road you cant hear any noise coming from bars. We stayed on 2d floor ( the room 206), the room was big enough , bathroom is clean, no smells . Staff cleaned the room every day. The territory of the hotel is very green and nice decorated. Staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and always ready to make your holidays comfortable. We checked other hotels in that area and even with higher room price but without any doubts this hotel was the best choice for us.
