Lanta Castaway Beach Resort

We had three nights at this very well run resort and really enjoyed ourselves. We stay on this island quite a lot and this is our first time here but it certainly won't be our last. It is a comfortable place and feels almost like a hub of the traveller community. Whether you are staying here, Using the excellent restaurant or taking one of their very popular diving tours there's something for everyone. Location – excellent. A one minute road walk from the road it is both handedly placed but far enough a way to be tranquil as well. All the taxi drivers Seem to know where it is so it is easy to find whether coming in by Road or from the ferry terminal. It is about a 15 minute drive from the latter. Rooms – very comfortable indeed. We had a sea view Villa which was obviously a few years old but very comfortable and had everything you needed. One minor niggle was that as soon as you take your room card out of the slot all the electricity goes and which made it tricky to keep the laptop on our devices charged up. Other than this though you had just about everything. The air-conditioning was reasonable and supplemented by an excellent ceiling fan which meant you kept cool at night and slept very well. There is a safe provided, hot drinks making facilities and many other things to make you stay relaxing. The bathroom is simple but has everything you need in the shower was great. Best of all, the Terrace was small but very comfortable and we spent lots of time there in the morning at night. To say it is quite a compact resort it is thoughtfully designed and we felt we had quite a high degree of privacy when sitting there. Beach – it is worth noting the resort doesn't have its own pool but relies on the beautiful beach for long periods of relaxation. Here, there are some nice loungers with parasols and we didn't have any trouble really insecure two together as it seems to be just about enough. Food – we had breakfast included and it was excellent. Ranging from fruit through to rice porridge and all the way up to a few Mexican dishes there was pretty much something for everyone. It seems strange they charge extra for premium coffees but the house stuff was decent enough and the service fast and friendly. We also use this in the evening where it doubles as a bar and allows you to have a couple of cold beers as well as watching the sunset which is magical. They also have a happy hour of 20% off all alcohol at this time which is useful. Wi-Fi – we found it very good indeed. No login needed which is great and it seemed to reach speed to around 70 Mb which for a Thai island I think is pretty good. It reaches throughout the resort and even down onto the beach which is great. Staff – friendly and helpful. They weren't too conspicuous but you could always find them if you needed to and they were helpful and keen to make your stay a good one.

Spent 6 nights is this lovely little resort right on the uncrowded sandy beach. The cozy cottages have plenty of storage, good beds, air-con and a ceiling fan which all made for a comfortable stay and a good night's sleep. Nice gardens leading to the restaurant and bar overlooking the beach. A flight of five steps down and your toes are curling into sand. There were ample sunbeds and parasoles for the exclusive use of hotel guests. Staff serve you drinks and snacks at your sunbed if you wished, and set out tables for dinner on the beach (recommend booking these first thing in the morning for dinner that night). If you have a preference for a particular table in the restaurant you'll need to reserve it. There's a Happy Hour with discounted drinks and an extensive menu. We found the food good and not pricey, although there are cheaper options in nearby restaurants, but hey your're eating on the beach watching the sunset with uniterupted views over the horizon! Staff were always attentive and served you with a smile. Mostly their English was good enouh to make youself understood and communication was not a problem. Two minutes walk from the resort, along the main drag, there are snack bars and resturants, a pharmacy (with an English speaking and helful pharmacist) an ATM and places to pick up "taxi-side cars", so getting about further afield is quite convenient. We booked a rental car with the hotel with the car being delivered and picked-up at the hotel. They also arranged a private road transfer to Phuket Airport which we thought was good value for money for our group. Although a separate business, "Dive & Relax" snorkelling and scuba-diving is intergrated into the hotel reception area and some of our party went scuba-diving. They were very impressed and felt safe with the experinced instuctor, which they had to themselves. Things to note: There is no swimming pool, but who needs one when you've got the beach and the warm sea becokoning you. We read about some rocks on the beach. These can only be seen when the tide is out. They do not interfere with swimming and should in no way deter anyone form staying here. Highly recommend Lanta Castaway. It has everything you need for a real break and for us we could find no fault worth mentioning.

The hotel came recommended to us and we are not disappointed. Its gardens are immaculately kept and beautiful, that really sets the tone. Rooms are comfortable, clean with great beds and hot shower. The staff are friendly and helpful and I have witnessed them be so kind to guests. Breakfast is included and plenty full. Lots of sun-beds, no pool but I have not missed it with the ocean a few steps away. Onsite restaurant is good with plenty of variety. Cocktails are amazing and pack a punch. The sunsets are to die for. The hotel is clearly managed by an experienced team.

We have just had our third holiday at Lanta Castaway, this time with our young kids, for 12 nights. Everything about this small resort is wonderful, the service, maintenance, garden, location, staff, beach etc. i can’t recommend it highly enough. It really is a magical place that has a very special place in my heart. We look forward to our next visit.

The hotel has a great location - right on the shore of Long Beach. The hotel restaurant is also on the shore, where breakfast is served in the morning. At lunchtime and in the evening, you can eat and drink a cocktail right on the shore. There are various shops, restaurants, a drugstore, a store, and a wonderful Irish pub near the hotel. You won't be bored. A spacious bungalow, everything is there. The only drawback is a lot of mosquitoes, the hotel area is treated, but it doesn't help much. But what can you do - nature, vegetation. There are no mosquitoes in Phuket, but there is no such beauty either. In general, we liked the hotel, as well as Lanta Island itself - quiet, cozy, beautiful sunsets.

We stayed at the resort during 15-18 October 2024. The resort is quiet and well maintained, especially the garden! There are so many types of spray in the room of which you can choose as you like. They also provide 4 bottles of water daily. The staffs are really accommodating. The restaurant and massage by the beach are available too so it’s very convenient.

Amazing resort with direct beach access, a restaurant/bar and massage! Spacious rooms with 4 complementary water bottles per day. Breakfast has Thai and western options which were a little above average. Interestingly only black filter coffee or tea is included, cappuccino is extra (80 THB).
Massage service tokens can be bought at the reception (350 THB for 1 hr Thai massage) and used at the beach front massage stall - very good massage! You can hear the ocean but unfortunately also other guests while getting massaged.
Around the hotel there are many great restaurants (Thai, Cosy Restaurant, Texas BBQ, The Galaxy to name a few) and the 7-11 is just 3 minutes away on foot.

We've staid 2 days and it was one of the perfect and coziest small hotel spots we've been around. Quiet, no street noise. Booked single villa and it was value for money price, well maintained, with all essentials including mosquito repellents and etc. has a minibar with sodas and etc. Breakfast selection from the menu was also very tasty and good quality. Recommend to stay. And if we come back definitely will stay again here.

A great little resort close to the beach. Access to the beachwas a bit tricky when high tide.
Swimming Pool was clean. Rooms were adequate for the price. However we had to ask for some cups as there is a kettle but no cups, or tea and coffee for a drink. luckily we always take our own.
Signage for the hotel is hidden from the main road. Thankfully Google maps helped us find it.
Would use this resort again when in Koh Lanta
