I went there to have some mango ice cream. They charged 2$ for a scoop. They didn't have plastic spoon so I couldn't take it away. But I loved sitting there and having that ice cream. The view was excellent. Ice cream had more ice than the flavor of fruit. It was certainly not the best of ice creams I ever had. But the music and view was definitely the best.

Very quiet and small hotel along a white beach. Very good restaurant, beautiful garden, beautiful views, good swimming pool. The staff were very nice and welcoming. However, the bathrooms require some renovation.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Villa Kiva this September and we had the most pleasant, comfortable stay. The staff is super friendly, very welcoming and the food is amazing. The set menu every night ( which was part of our half board package ) was so good, with different choices and amazing desserts. A special thanks to Mercy at the reception which was always very helpful and very sweet.

Stayed for 2 weeks had an amazing holiday. When we arrived we had been upgraded to an amazing room which was cleaned twice a day and they even came in of an evening to spray under the bed and turn down the sheets and mosquito net. All the staff went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if I returned to Zanzibar I would stay again.

They did not pick us up from the airport although pick-up was agreed. Room service was mediocre, only one out of seven nights our bed was prepared. They charge 5% for credit card payment - no mentioning on the website. Remote location. So nowhere to escape. Food was repetitive after three days. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It's a small, cozy and quiet place. Owners and staff are very polite and ready to help. Breakfast could be better; however, a la carte dishes for lunch and dinner are excellent. Cons is that you have to pay in cash (even accommodation), otherwise you would be charged 5% for card usage. A good place to stay at Matemwe. Staff if very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, spacious and confortable. Good dishes at the restaurant, daily menus with fresh fish. However, very few space to hangout near the swimming pool. Really bad wifi experience, very slow, often unavailable. Impossible to swim in the sea at low tide.

Really nice place. Asilia has landed a good one. The villa with rooftop plunge pool is special. Not sure if it's worth the upcharge, but not looking back. We were impressed with our liaison Ndaki. Food was good, not memorable. Compared to other safari Asilias, it missed the mark. But that was a pretty high mark.

Matemwe Lodge is a really fantastic small lodge with beautiful breezy rooms and wonderful views out to Mnemba Island. We love Matemwe for offering a great escape from the hustle and bustle that surrounds much of Zanzibar. The location is at Matenwe in Zanzibar. A bit difficult to get ro but an absolute treasure. It's a retreat place but more like a resort. Directly opposite the beach, great pool, fine location and overall great staff. I'll like to visit again.

We had a great time at Jafferji Beach Retreat, thanks to the wonderful team. They're really doing their best to make you feel at home. Great cook as well, we really enjoyed the food. Accessing the hotel is kinda challenging (bumpy road is far from reality :-) ) and you'll have to drive (or to be driven) quite a bit to reach points of interest, but it's part of the charm ;-)

Lovely place to stay. Food was ok. Room very spacious and beautifully decorated. Massage was absolutely beautiful. Small room with a bathroom of 1m2. The shower hangs above the toilet. Renovation is needed, especially since the power goes out a lot, the water pressure drops and the room doors cannot be locked. The employees seem friendly, but they are mainly concerned with blaming others.

A super chill spot to just relax. This no nonsense hostel sometimes has no idea who is coming and going. But it will all get worked out. Just make sure you have something showing if you paid and for how long you booked. Food is super slow and not very good, but the beers are sometimes cold, and the wifi might even be working.
