Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

The hotel is fantastic, views and rooms and the seals nearby. All amazing.

But the best part was Conrad, who helped us immensely when our car had a flat tire and we had to leave it at the hotel. He took care of everything for us in order to allow us to continue our trip. We are both so grateful. Thank you very much!

Overall staff was good. The exception is the check in desk staff. She was not clear with her instructions, appeared unsure, and unwilling to provide assistance such as a bell hop to assist with carrying luggage to our room. My wife and I had 6 pieces of luggage (we have a 4 year old) and the staffer expected us to carry our bags and child across the property to our room. I had to ask if the bellhops were on strike and if not, can someone assist us. I think it is a simple matter of training or retraining. Other than that, it was a nice hotel experience. Not the best (considering the amount we paid for our room with amazing views) but nice.

We went down the coast to explore and got a couple different hotels along the way, and this one was the best we stayed at. Honest review, highly recommend staying here. Definitely going back to stay here again, the price is a little high but it’s worth it. It’s only valet parking but they take care of your car and parked across the street in private parking area. Service was the nicest people and rooms are clean, clean, they do a great job. No microwave in the room, just a heads up. The hot tub was the best with a view and the big gym.

Wow. They don’t really need any more 5* reviews but wow. Staff and building is top notch. What a wonderful experience to live in their hotel! Lovely boutique vibe while being a 5 star hotel with all the amenities. From their valet, maids, engineer to front desk the service was impeccable. Wish they could give higher than 5*! Their restaurant schooners is also very good!

This is exactly what I want when I travel. Clean, upscale (yet not budget-busting for the locale), great location and some of the best service I’ve had in all my travels. From the moment we checked in, the desk agent was genuinely friendly, and not just trying to appease. Our rough commute came up in conversation and she presented us with a small token of appreciation, along with a little gift for our 5 year old son, that really started our stay off right. She wasn’t typing away on a computer while talking to us, but giving her full undivided attention. You don’t get that often these days, sadly. The entire hotel is regal in design and upkeep, and everyone from the valets to the service staff go above and beyond to make you feel appreciated. Even the hosts/hostesses at the hotel restaurant say hello every time we pass by. My wife is the pickiest hotel guest and she can’t stop saying how impressed she is. Bonus: the entire hotel smells amazing. Turns out they have their own “scent” which can be bought in the form of candles/reed diffusers at the front desk. We bought 3 to bring home :) 11/10

So this hotel calls out to me my soul, the architecture in itself....wood and brass it's just a combination of all that I find comforting with its warmth. It is inviting and to top it off it is Majestic with its secluded ways. Last weekend I was able to get away from the grind and actually sit and listen to the grand piano being played. I did not stay here nor did I eat here so unfortunately I cannot comment on everything. Next time

Great place! Beautiful location! Stayed a few days for a convention. Its right down the street from a bunch of great little shops and coffee and restraunts and pubs and a perfect used bookstore. The hotel was a little tough to navigate at first, and you practically have to use the valet, but once inside it is great.

We had a wonderful stay at Monterey Plaza. We ate at Schooner's a couple of times. No complaints about the food or drinks. I do recommend staying in a bay side balcony room. We enjoyed listening to the sounds of the water and seals. We even watched seals playing and sea otters resting in the kelp. Great service and a wonderful hotel.

Wow!! Wife & I stayed 3-nights for our anniversary over Labor Day weekend.
Hotel staff was vigilantly attentive in everyway - valet service great; shuttle service also great. Spa service relaxing and professional. Wait staff at Schooners and Coastal Kitchen was top-notch!!! Room was super-clean and well appointed. We will certainly stay again - highly recommended - Enjoy :)
