Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa
Monterey, 1 Old Golf Course Road 🧭 Map
Loved staying here. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The beds are firm with a little softness. They have a couple of pools and spas and games outside for all. Like table tennis, jenga, corn hole, and a huge Connect four. A/C works great and the room has a fan. They do have a little cafe/market store but the food is not great. Had a breakfast burrito from there and it was small, wasn't good...
Stayed here in 2012 then again in 2015. I plan on going back soon. Most likely where I’ll book again! The staff go above and beyond. The comfortability of the rooms and beds are unmatched. Also the most central location I’d want while staying in the peninsula. The restaurant attached on the front floor is nice and the gift shop is convenient. I’m not a golfer but this is a golfers heaven.
A lively yet cozy place for a short getaway. Loved the amount of seating and lounge spaces. My room was comfortable and spacious. I appreciated how close the hotel is to Carmel and Pacific Grove. When we needed anything in our room, the service by staff was great. They were warm, attentive, and quick. Plenty of activities to keep yourself entertained here. The only area for improvements is cleanliness...
Really easy walk to Calle Principal and Alvarado; about 35 minutes. Lighthouse shopping district and Pacific Grove are a long walk.
Very different from your typical hotel. Laid back environment on the golf course. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Only strange thing was the A/C unit in the room, was a standalone and caused the breaker to pop in our room when the hair dryer was being used at the same time.
Enjoyed the location and on site restaurants. Hard to see from the road so pay attention to directions. Also parking is a little hard in the evening on busy nights so be prepared to walk and haul your stuff. Once settled though, it's really nice. The rooms gazing the golf course have great views.

Pacific Grove, 800 Asilomar Boulevard 🧭 Map
I am sad that I can no longer recommend Asilomar. The natural beauty is amazing, but the rooms are in disrepair. The heater did not work, and instead of fixing it, they brought in a space heater. The sliding door to the deck would not open, making the deck unusable. Every ice machine I could find was out of order. Wallpaper was peeling. Renovation is overdue. If they work on it, it could become great...
If you are visiting our beautiful area, one of the less advertised places to stay is The Asilomar Hotel (Lodge) and Conference Grounds. Perfectly situated within a few steps to the beach, spanning several acres, filled with trees and paths. This gem has a great rustic vibe. Very cosy. The Main Lodge has a large, locally quarried boulder fireplace, many comfortable leather sofas and two pool tables...
I stayed at Asilomar Conference Grounds for a 2-day / 1-night retreat. A few main buildings are located at the center of campus (dining hall, lecture room, guest check-in) and the residential buildings are scattered on the outskirts. The location of this Hotel is great. It's walking distance to the beach and state park. My room was kinda average and screamed "family beach retreat on a budget"....
This place is very beautiful. Nice view & awesome sunset around the beach. If you stay on-site for the conference, you should notice that the room itself is old and honestly doesn’t smell good.
Was there for a company party set up for 500-800 researchers (teams) in the area for a conference. Not sure about the rooms & amenities but the view is remarkable and so is any other are I was able to see before dark. I hear its a great place to be and stay.
Historical grounds add interest to a lovely quiet setting along the coastline. A short sweet walk along a path leads to a white sandy beach. Seventeen mile road meanders thru between beach and grounds. If you like history, world class beach and views, this place is positively enchanting!

We’ve stayed here several times in the past and recently stayed here for our 15 year anniversary. Absolutely beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and a wonderful lobby. The hotel staff have the best customer service and are always attentive to our needs. Valet staff are quick and very friendly and always had our car ready quickly. The Jacks restaurant has always been a favorite for dinner with their...
The hotel is beautiful, we enjoyed the open, outdoor feel of Jack's restaurant. Everything we ate at Jack's was delicious. The servers were friendly and helpful. Checking in went smoothly. The clerks were pleasant and helpful. Our rooms were equally beautiful with adequate lighting, excellent WiFi, and we appreciated the cable connections on the desk and near the beds. We enjoyed the amenities in the...
Front desk staff friendly welcoming and efficient! Location is ideal easy walk to wharf or downtown Monterey. Room was amazing. Bright with plenty of light and very clean! Very nice little touches such as dim able lights and ceiling fans made it that much more comfortable. Spent a week in Monterey amongst 3 hotels I and this one was by far my favorite. Won’t be staying anywhere else next time we...
We had a fabulous time staying at the Portola. Our family especially enjoyed the pool/hot tub. The room was very clean and very comfortable. We will definitely book our next stay with you. Also the location was perfectly close to the wharf and restaurants as well as entertainment for the whole family.
The valet was friendly and knowledgeable in all questions I had regarding tourist attractions, fees and pricing of parking rates. The housekeeping staff were polite, smiled and greeted as we walked to our event being held there. I think the front desk staff could be a bit more friendly or inviting, hardly made eye contact, and our group felt like we were imposing when asking questions. I'll give 4...
The location of this hotel cannot be beat. The room was clean. I paid for dog hospitality, and requested a dog bowl and never got one. I went to he lobby 3 hours later to help myself. I got the breakfast buffet for myself and my two kids. There was mold on the cream cheese. I had to wait 15 minutes with two children to order pancakes and French toast. When ordered, I had to wait 30 minutes for those...

well located in the centre of Monterey near Fisherman’s Wharf. Large room was very comfortable and staff were both friendly and helpful
Even though this hotel looks nice and clean inside the furniture in not comfortable. The furniture is much to low to the floor. Even the office chair could be wider and higher. Even the bed could be raised somewhat. With all the furniture so very low I was amazed the entrance into the shower:tub was higher than I appreciated. Lighting could be improved as well. Hopefully when the furniture is updated...
Excellent service and friendly staff all around. The building itself from the outside looks like it needs a good power-wash, but what it lacks in aesthetics is made up for with awesome service and a great location. We were upgraded to a larger room that was much more comfortable for my family, and the friendly front desk staff even gave my kid a small stuffed-animal keepsake. He loves it! And he remembers...
My husband and I were just there for 2 nights for our anniversary. Positives were good location (within walking distance of lots of restaurants), friendly staff, pretty nice room, very clean, and pet friendly. Negatives were walls pretty thin (we could hear neighbors on both sides), almost no counter space in bathroom, bed was not super comfortable, was not real impressed with pool area. Given that...
This hotel was awesome. Depending on your room it offered amazing sea and city views. The hotel and rooms were very clean. The hotel staff and I mean everyone on the payroll were professional, courteous, and helpful. The staff will go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay. I would like to give a greatful thank you to everyone who assisted me during my stay the last week of June ...
We were there for a three day board meeting for my husband’s work and we’re very happy with the hotel. Helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is located in downtown with a quick five minute walk to the Wharf. Quite a few shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is fantastic, views and rooms and the seals nearby. All amazing. But the best part was Conrad, who helped us immensely when our car had a flat tire and we had to leave it at the hotel. He took care of everything for us in order to allow us to continue our trip. We are both so grateful. Thank you very much!
Overall staff was good. The exception is the check in desk staff. She was not clear with her instructions, appeared unsure, and unwilling to provide assistance such as a bell hop to assist with carrying luggage to our room. My wife and I had 6 pieces of luggage (we have a 4 year old) and the staffer expected us to carry our bags and child across the property to our room. I had to ask if the bellhops...
We went down the coast to explore and got a couple different hotels along the way, and this one was the best we stayed at. Honest review, highly recommend staying here. Definitely going back to stay here again, the price is a little high but it’s worth it. It’s only valet parking but they take care of your car and parked across the street in private parking area. Service was the nicest people and rooms...
Wow. They don’t really need any more 5* reviews but wow. Staff and building is top notch. What a wonderful experience to live in their hotel! Lovely boutique vibe while being a 5 star hotel with all the amenities. From their valet, maids, engineer to front desk the service was impeccable. Wish they could give higher than 5*! Their restaurant schooners is also very good!
So this hotel calls out to me my soul, the architecture in itself....wood and brass it's just a combination of all that I find comforting with its warmth. It is inviting and to top it off it is Majestic with its secluded ways. Last weekend I was able to get away from the grind and actually sit and listen to the grand piano being played. I did not stay here nor did I eat here so unfortunately I cannot...
This is exactly what I want when I travel. Clean, upscale (yet not budget-busting for the locale), great location and some of the best service I’ve had in all my travels. From the moment we checked in, the desk agent was genuinely friendly, and not just trying to appease. Our rough commute came up in conversation and she presented us with a small token of appreciation, along with a little gift for...

Really nice hotel located directly on the water with great views of the Monterey Bay. You will melt into the bedding and linens, the bed is so comfortable. Beautiful bathrobes and towels are luxury. I stayed here with my husband and 6 month old baby. It was lovely! The room was spacious. We were able to fit our travel crib, stroller and tummy time mat and still had a ton of room. Our ocean view room was connected to a balcony, although you could only see the ocean at an angle from one spot on the couch. The staff was helpful and allowed us to checkout late. It was $45 (+ tip) to valet the car...
Three stars as the hotel has deteriorated significantly since staying here about five years ago. Rooms were showing real signs of wear and need money spent (tired beds, discoloured wallpaper etc). We also thought it very poor that for a five star hotel the restaurant and bar were shut the entire duration of our stay. The location right out on the wharf is terrific and the ocean view rooms provide incredible...
High quality hotel and service. Valet parking $45. Pool isn't really a pool (laps only, it's maybe 4 feet wide.) Customer service was exemplary. We didn't dine here, as there are so many other choices around on Cannery Row. Stayed here with kids to visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, as it's basically next door (and it is awesome). Location is perfect, and the property itself is lovely! If you can afford...
The location is great. The hotel restaurant has ocean views and looked nice. Did not eat there so not sure how the food was. Self parking was behind the hotel but easy to get to. The room had a nice deep bathtub, and fireplace which was really nice. The window opened a little so you could hear the seagulls. The bath towels and robes were large and plush. Overall the hotel was very nice. Picture...

We stayed in the Family Suite. Beautiful and quite large. Cozy fire place and living room area and a dining nook. It was like a little studio! With the size of the room and its proximity to historic Monterey, Alvarado Street, Fisherman's Wharf and the beautiful esplanade, you simply can't beat the price. Thank you!
The room was better than expected. The in room fireplace was a nice romantic touch to the room. We had a nice patio above the fountain (downside: there was an opening on the patio to the next room). Room was very spacious. Perfect location to dining and the waterfront. Quick walk to Cannery Row with local marine life along the walk. Planning on staying here anytime we are in Monterey in the future...
Wonderful experience! Will definitely be back. Every single person we encountered was friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were able to get an early check in and a late check out. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Great location and the complementary breakfast exceeded my expectations.
Beautiful from the outside and very spacious rooms! The rooms could definitely use a bit of upkeep though as there were some noticeable stains on some of our chairs. The bathrooms are great, lots of closet space, and the little patio adds a nice touch. Nicely located. Near fisherman's wharf, downtown. We walked to the aquarium, great trail. Very spacious room. I love the Spanish Villa style.
I love the Spanish influenced architecture. Hotel Pacific has old school charm with upscale amenities. Just get in the room. Love the beds the suite layout is sweet. Super comfortable always feels like a vacation to me.

Stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is outdated and old and is need of some renovations. Parking is $20, which seems like just a money grab. For their outdoor area, they have a pool, hot tub, fire pit and corn hole game. The fire pit and pool was nice to use. The hot tub had an out of order caution tape roping off the hot tub so we couldn’t use it. However, there was another guest who ended up turning...
Very clean and spacious room! We stayed on the top floor with a large balcony overlooking the pool. I'm giving 5 stars because we were very happy overall...but I do have a couple of improvement ideas for them. 1. Change the mattresses sooner than later. 2. PLEASE install a magnifying mirror and better lighting for women like me who put on makeup.
PROS: Staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. Price is reasonable (given the location). CONS: The rooms are very dated, actually most of the property is very dated. The parking situation is not great. The parking lots are very small and not convenient. The underground parking is limited and has a dead end which requires a very difficult u- turn if no spaces are available. Parking costs ...
This was a wonderful experience. Bedroom was so clean and they delivered robes to the room! The hot tub was well kept, as was the gym area. Highly recommend staying here
I was pretty much a permanent resident here. All the staff are awesome, the cookies in the lobby are good, and the rooms are pretty decent. There is a great work out facility and a heated pool. There are also free s'mores and a gas pit fire to hang by at night. Fun stuff! The bar gets popping in occasion, as well. I did notice myself completely drying out while I was there though. Love staying here when visiting Monterey either by myself on business or for pleasure with the family. Excellent location within walking distance to Cannery Row. It isn't the newest building and it definitely has some improvements that could use, but there is a lot of old Spanish character and the staff was excellent. The rooms were good size and the beds were definitely comfortable.
For the location of this place, the price was good. Had to wait about 15 minutes to get checked in though with only one front desk person staffed. Good experience once he got to us though. I stayed here over Christmas weekend (2017) and had an excellent stay. The room was clean and had a has fireplace which really cranks out the heat. Enjoyed a cozy 1 night stay when we were in the area on business. A fair price for the accommodations. The spa is quite small, but had an outdoor hot tub & fire pit. We stayed 2 nights here and I can definitely tell you that the rooms are not worth $350 a night (we had the ocean view) of their location right on the beach.PLUS resort fees (I wouldn't call this place a resort and for the fees they charge here they should have nicer equipment for their guest) and parking! Yes you have to pay (about $30) to park your car. The lobby was nice and had a stylish fireplace...
Great view, excellent service, friendly employees. The view and closeness to the sea was what makes the Hotel one of the best I've stayed at. The rooms were clean and tidy. Relaxing place to stay. Love the fireplace!! Lovely garden and grounds. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Hot tub is really nice too.
This was our fourth visit to Andril Cottages. Nice accommodations and friendly, helpful staff. It was raining when we arrived, which we anticipated, and we were planning on staying inside and mostly eating out. A big storm blew over a giant pine tree across from our cottage which was 'exciting.' Their staff got right to work cutting it up and hauling it away, not an easy task! And then the power went...
I am so glad to have discovered this wonderful gem. We stayed for three nights arriving in the midst of a torrential rainstorm. We plan on suggesting Andril Fireplace Cottages to any friends or family looking for a nice place...
Our family of five stayed there for a week and it could not have been any better! Great location and friendly people. The housekeeping staff and groundskeepers are top notch. We would definitely go back if we did not live so far away. Highly recommended!

Nice hotel, good location with nice rooms/bathrooms/amenities. Fireplace in room is an awesome feature. Not all rooms have a apparently - our friends had it but our room just had a small electric fan in the closet? Very strange. Pool and spa temps were cold even though they said pool was heated. Really enjoyed our stay here. Had a great room. Breakfast was lovely in the hotel and it's located centrally. Hot tub was an added plus. Would definitely come back here!
I had a very pleasant stay. The room was spacious (I had a room with two queen beds). The bathroom was also spacious which isn't always the case! When checking in and out I was nicely greeted and felt welcomed. We are dinner at their Bistro and it was good and the service was wonderful. I would definitely stay again!

Just right (for our explore focused traveling taste). The owner and staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. Simple things; like a bottle of wine for a birthday, restaurant suggestions that hit the spot and suggestion of trade/upgrade. Perfect location, although not directly on the beach, it's close to everything. Cute and quaint; meaning very nicely put together and perfect in simplicity.
Super cute cozy hotel nestled in PG. The outside reminded me of a Hallmark channel. We went in Dec, so the lights were on, crisp air, excellent location to the beach. The rooms were much smaller than seemed in pictures. Very clean, No drawers for clothes, but thankfully it was a quick overnight trip. The man at the front was very nice & friendly.

Nice 2 star. Clean rooms. No ac. Large with refrigerator micro and coffee maker. Ice machine close. Mine had bay window with all courtyard views. No pool. But canary row is only 11min away. Easy access to all area attractions. Best price in area. Quiet location
Stayed here last weekend for 5 nights. No complaints at all. Clean room, comfortable bed, patio sitting area right outside my room. Microwave and refrigerator in the room. Plenty of free parking. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Great location tucked away from the busy, touristy city streets, but just minutes away from all the action and beaches. I’ll be staying here next time I’m in Monterey.
Rooms a good size, and clean. No AC but they provided a box fan. Breakfast area super small but check-in was easy and staff were courteous. I thought it might be loud next to the airport, but didn't interrupt my experience at all. Overall, good stay!

Not sure you can call this a hotel as it has more of a motel ambience and amenities. It's far better in quality than a motel 6 in cleanliness and comfort, but not to the standards that I'd expect from a Comfort Inn. They were super friendly and checking in was a breeze. The room was clean and, for what we paid for it, we were pleasantly surprised. The only qualm we have is the air conditioner turned off around midnight and didn't kick in until 2, making it very hot.
Nice and comfy motel just 10 minutes (with car) from the coast. Beware that if you get a room upstairs, you have to be able to lift your luggage and bring it up the stairs. No breakfast here, but there is coffee at the front desk. Ask for a coupon before going to the Fisherman's Wharf for dinner.
Great room. Comfortable, clean, and roomy. The rooms were kind of like little studio apartments. The walls were kind of thin so we could hear a lot of commotion when other guests were arriving or leaving. Parking is limited and no breakfast was served but otherwise it was a nice hotel that was close to Monterey bay. Would go again definitely.
Enjoyed my stay here very much. There were extra pillows, blankets, plenty of towels, hangers, iron and ironing board, and hairdryer. The room and bathroom were very clean. There is an ice machine, washer and dryer on site. The staff was welcoming. Would stay here again.

Best Western The Inn & Suites Pacific Grove
Pacific Grove, 660 Dennett street 🧭 Map
The suites are huge. They are more like a townhouse than a hotel room. The inn is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to all the great sightseeing and dining options, but away from the throngs of tourists in Monterey.
Good value, the patio king suite is huge and a great choice for longer stays; the rooms are clean with a somewhat retro, woodsy late 70's decor complete with a wet bar, living room, full kitchen and dining nook. Huge wood deck suitable for gatherings. Very comfortable beds, gas fireplace adds ambience. Peaceful setting just a short walk to Asilomar beach, and a quick drive to excellent restaurants...
What a completely charming spot! Clean room, there were stairs to navigate but it was doable, good breakfast and overflow seating provided outside. The room was nice with lots of room and a balcony. The hotel is tucked away in a neighborhood and surrounded by trees.
Great location. It is a short distance to the aquarium and wharf. It felt like it used to be apartments that were converted to a motel so the rooms were large and there was covered parking available. The room we were in had a kitchen area and a fireplace. Everything was clean and the area around the model was quiet.
The Best Western Inn & Suites Pacific Grove has the cutest townhouse style hotel suites. We were in a king bed suite, which had its own kitchenette, living room, bedroom, covered porch, and yard. I loved the towel swan in the bathroom, fireplace, and the gazebo! And I loved that it is only about an 11 minute walk from the white sands of the Asilomar State Beach!! The hotel was clean, employees were...
This hotel is a converted condominium site, and as such, there were many room options .We chose the largest king suite and were very pleasantly surprised how large and roomy it was. There was a full kitchen, living room and large bedroom with two patios and two tv's. It was very clean. It would remind you of a 80s condo in the mountains, with nice rock features, an inviting fireplace and autumnal...

Deer Haven Inn
Pacific Grove, 750 Crocker Ave 🧭 Map
Affordable and comfortable place to stay in Monterey! There is a nice fireplace in your room and drip coffee is provided in the morning! Breakfast is no longer included since the pandemic but still worth a visit!
Great location! But small things: Bed oddly close to the door. Bed had tiny square pillows in lieu of standard adult pillows 🧐. World's smallest hand soap. Can hear neighbors upstairs. Tea bags in the front office were open and exposed. Would stay again!
Very nice inn in a quiet neighborhood. Close to the beach, aquarium, and 17 mile drive. Room was very clean and the fireplace was a nice touch. Only complaint was we had a downstairs room and you could easily hear the people upstairs walking around. I would stay here again.
We loved our stay at Deer Haven. It is in a very quiet neighborhood area, just 1 short block from Asilomar. You can walk down through the historic conference center to the beach. In California, place names often refer to animals, plants and geographical features that could not have existed there. But Deer Haven is the opposite. You will see deer in this neighborhood. Even as we were checking into our...
Yes, the Dear Haven is a low key, low budget motel and doesn't offer a lot of amenities. However, I have stayed at alot of 5 star to 1 star hotel/motels in the past and this one is pretty fair. The rooms are updated and remodeled but admittedly the shower is low water pressure and has other issues. The management however, is very nice and responsive and they post on their purchase receipt no breakfast...
Clean, cozy - with a fireplace in the room, great location and wonderful staff. We are early risers so I can’t speak to the breakfast offerings but the staff was very clear that it was very light and we were close to downtown anyway so we ate out. I would stay here again.
