Z Hotel Jack London Square
Oakland, 233 Broadway 🧭 Map
Love the Z-Hotel! This is my go-to place when I travel to Oakland. It is a very clean, pleasant and relaxing facility located at the edge of beautiful Jack London Square and within walking distance to great entertainment and eateries, including world-renowned Yoshi’s. I highly recommend this hotel—definitely two thumbs up!!!
Hidden gem. Most would never know this hotel was there and honestly it's probably better that way. Once you step thru the doors the fact that your downtown disappears which is nice. It's its own little world. Beautiful courtyard with pool, soda machines, gym. The only downfalls. Room was a little small and secure parking is $30! That's way steep in my opinion. Overall is was a nice stay.
The lobby is tidy, the surveillance system is decent as well. The room was also spacious and very tidy. We really enjoyed our stay here. All was good enough to make you feel like you're at home and support you with everything. We're going to be here again. I would definitely recommend this cozy spot to all of my colleagues.
Very comfortable been here 7 or 8 times and have had a good stay. This time I was charged $25/day for parking which seemed like a lot. The place looks newly refurbished and nice. The pool area is great. Rooms aren't really soundproof so if you have noisy neighbors it could be a problem. Very convenient to the harbor and the BART station and Chinatown.
Place was very clean. Our room previously had mold or something because I had intense allergies during the night. Which only happens if there are mold spores around. Was good for the most part. Katie was really great, but the other lady we encountered did not have any type of friendly mannerisms being in charge of the front desk. You can say hi and be friendly, not even an acknowledgement... She gave...
Overall the place is nice. However it does come across as an old dodgy motel that has been renovated. The rooms were clean and had all of the necessities... Decent beds, hair dryer, mini fridge, iron. The pool area was very nice, they also had a small gym and office area. They have gated parking but do know it's $25 a night. There is also a dinner connected to the parking lot, which means you don't...

Room was very clean and tidy. The staff here are very nice, and the breakfast was delicious. Would come again
Staff is so nice and polite!! From the front desk to the house keeping. We saw both day and late night shifts at the front desk and they were great!! Location isn't the best but definitely not the worst but someone did steal garbage out of our truck bed. I thought ok less we had to take the dump in the morning 🤷‍♀️. Our room needed a little help though.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Free shuttle bus to and from bus station, airport and oracle arena. Though you will need to make arrangements with hotel and it isn't a guaranteed transport. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Fridge, microwave, coffee, iron available in room. Swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym available. Everytjing is great about this hotel except for the location. It seems to be surrounded...
Good location. Great because of shuttle to and from airport and BART stop. Excellent option if you need to get into the City (SF). Nearby BART stop and shuttle make city ac accessible.
Stayed here one night to catch an early flight. Impressively clean. Friendly desk clerk (he was either the manager or franchise owner). Would suggest for anyone wanting to catch an early flight out of Oakland.
Even though this Best Western hotel is set back in a warehouse commercial area don't let that fool you. The property is well maintained. The parking lot at night is extremely well lit and they also have security cameras so I felt comfortable that my car would be safe. All the rooms are very comfortable and clean. All the staff members I encountered were always very courteous and very helpful from afternoon...

After camping in the woods for two weeks, Temescal felt like a dream. The hotel is clean, painted with fun colors, and the accessories are up to date and modern. Our truck felt safe with the gates surrounding the property. The man at the front desk was kind and efficient. Overall, GREAT value for your money.👍🏼
So this is a bit of a mixed bag, but with more positives than negatives. It is in a building that was recently renovated. It used to be a pretty run down motel (that's what locals tell me) but they put a lot of money and time into revitalizing it. The room was pretty nice overall. Everything was new(er) and was everything I needed. There was a blow dryer but not an iron, so bring your own if you...
Always a pleasure to stay at this location! The staff is exceptional. The rooms are very clean, and modern. We appreciate the hard wood floors and chic furnishings. There are many convenient touches such as a keurig and coffee pods. My wife and i always appreciate staying here, and look forward to it! We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Stay here and you will have a lovely time.
I was worried because of the reviews but luckily Nick was there the entire time and made us feel welcome. The price is good for the location. Just 2 1/2 blocks from the BART. Nick even allowed us to leave our bags at the office after we checked out so we could take one more day trip into San Francisco before our evening flight. I did have some complaints though. Like the previous reviews said there...
Friendly and helpful staff at check in and check out. Nice, clean, modern, well furnished rooms. My only complaint is the bottom of the bed frame was made of thin metal which made a noise when getting in/out of bed. Easy to get to MacArthur station which can take you to San Francisco city.
Newly remodeled and great front desk service. Loved the restaurant suggestions on receipt and wifi instructions. Will stay again

The room was spacious and clean, and the lodging was a short walk from MacArthur BART station. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby as well. Overall, a good stay - clean and comfortable rooms in a quiet setting.
my friend and I stayed here after a concert, and it's a great place to stay, we will more than likely be returning next time we're in Oakland. im a smoker, so I tend to smoke outside, and I felt very safe. I saw the owner a couple times and he was very kind, and it made me feel even safer to be outside of my hotel room. it has a gorgeous little fountain with seating in a courtyard type area, and the...
The room was cozy and nice. The furniture was oddly placed and there was a stain on the comforter. The lady is friendly in the front. Lots of places to sit. The TV wasn't working. This was a great stay for a budget inn.
The experience was what it cost. The bathrooms were tiny and had no ventilation, but for I paid for it it was to be expected. The only thing is they got my reservation wrong and argued that they were right even when I had my receipt to back me up, but it worked out in my favor sp it was whatever. Definitely double check your reservations though. Also it wasnt very clear how to check out so make sure...
Clean, simple hotel. For some reason allot of tourist from Sweden, Norway area. There also seems to be a small group of people who live there. All in all, no issues with my stay.
If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around... I stayed here for 3 weeks while looking for a place in the Bay Area. As others have mentioned, you should be prepared to put in a little effort. The staff are happy to loan you a broom or other cleaning supplies as needed. They...
I have crashed here twice over 2 yrs; each stay was for 2ish weeks. Each time it has been a prolonged stay while looking for a reasonable place to live. It isn't fancy, bring your own tp, washcloth and hand towels. Public transit bus 1 is a few feet which gets you to Bart. Laundry, 24hr Mexican restaurant, MicD, and grocery store easily walkable. Mostly safe area but don't push it. Pics are from the...
OK so let's be real... Its not the Marriott. But I will say this. " The staff are humble and down to Earth. The room wasn't in the best shape however after a little elbow grease & comet (provided upon my request) the room was exceptionally clean:) the bed was comfy & bedding was changed as regularly as I wanted. Wonderful stay! The hotel was super nice and clean! The hotel staff was very friendly! Great location! Cannot beat the view of this hotel- Absolutely gorgeous!! Although other reviews stated that the rooms were small, I thought the room we stayed in was spacious and the layout really helped. I would definitely stay here again!!
We went again! go read the last review it doesn’t hold a candle to what I would say this time: everything runs perfectly. This property is run by probably one of the best general managers in the industry and if I wasn’t slightly retarded I would be able to remember his name for this review; he has told me about seven times. The front desk clerk, the doorman the wandering in and out employees coming...
Rooms are small but very comfortable; the staff is always excellent! Chris at the front desk has been the best and always ready to accommodate our needs. Definitely the best place to stay in SF!
It's a nice, upscale hotel with some rooms overlooking the Bay Bridge, easy walking distance to Ferry building BUT the rooms are super small, the 2 windows looking out to the water view are crazy small (like 3'x2'?, the room is the size of a walking closet, and the bathroom is the size of a powder room, the sink no bigger than a laptop, I kid you not. Staff is coolly friendly. We only stayed 2 nights...
I've stayed here a few times. Staff is great, the rooms are hit and miss. If you get a water view room, they are quite lovely. If you get an inner room, they are much smaller and cramped. I had a room once where I couldn't hang a dress shirt and no desk(if you need to work.) Another that was spacious. As of 3/18, they are still going through an unadvertised remodel.
A nicely renovated building, while it was small, my room with queen bed was very modern and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and actually cared about my needs. Was great value also compared to other choices nearby. I picked the "share keys" package; they magically parked my car for me too overnight.

Perfect location and yet the room rate is reasonable. With the view of Bay Bridge and the Ferry Building, this is one of the best hotels to stay at in San Francisco.
Overall a nice hotel with good breakfast.. But some small things were off. The front desk staff that I delt with weren't as accommodating as expected for a hotel of this price. Small detail, but my room was overlooking the bridge but the window was so dirty I couldn't see anything. I should've complained but I didn't.. And now I'm that person writing it as a comment
I stayed here during a recent business trip and was mostly impressed. I had an inside-facing king room. They were not kidding when they said no view... it literally faced the other side of the hotel. While the view was lacking , the room itself was nice. It was very spacious for one person and was clean. The front desk staff was very kind. I arrived quite early and did not expect to be able to check...
Stayed for a company event. The space was great and the food was delicious. The bar is a great to spot to meet up and grab a few drinks.
Went to happy hour at Americano. Great food and drink selection and plenty of space if you go on a Monday evening :)
A wonderful boutique hotel right by the historic San Francisco Embarcadero and piers. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I only stayed for two days, but they recognized me after one. The only issue I had while there was trying to get a courtesy toothbrush from the front desk, which took about an hour. Other than that everything was great.

Great hotel in a really central location of the San Francisco downtown area. Rooms are modern and well designed. Even the bathrooms are really nice (with stand-up showers) and well lit. Free hot breakfast is available every morning - although the inside seating area is small (we used to sit outside most mornings). Parking is also advertised - the parking was full when we got there, so we had to park...
No matter what the pros and cons of this hotel might be, it is without doubt the staff that make it a wonderful experience. Michael, Genevieve, Saoirse and all the front desk staff are amazingly warm and welcoming, and an absolute breath of fresh air after a long drive and day. They are friendly, courteous and will go out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. And it's all done with a huge smile...
We spent two fantastic nights at this hotel. The room was clean and well equipped. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have a super cool roof bar with nightly events. Near by the ballpark and many restaurants. We'll be back.
I took my kids on a road trip and stopped overnight in San Francisco for a Giants game. I had my disabled son and his caregiver with me and even though the parking situation wasn’t great the woman checking me in went above and beyond to help how she could. Love the location and atmosphere. The room was clean and had amenities. Bell man was and valet parking personnel were very attentive and professional. The front desk not only checked me in but also recommended some restaurants around the area and were good. A cafeteria is located in the lobby area. 100 % recommended.
Beautiful hotel. The atrium/lobby is extremely impressive and made riding the glass elevators very fun. Rooms were updated and very comfortable. We had a King Bay View and had a great view out of the windows. Very close to transit as well to help get around the city. Highly recommend staying here.
I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco and had a great experience. The hotel is beautifully located with stunning views of the bay and city, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lovely hotel! The newly renovated room was really nice and modern. The top floor rotating club was incredible. We spent hours in there enjoying the view and the food. The feelings just hit different when you get to watch the city waking up beneath you bathed in morning sunshine while you have warm delicious breakfast buffet. I can't wait to stay here again in the coming months when SF gets warmer....
Personally, I wouldn't pay the extra for the Regency Club. The view up there was amazing but the food was not on par with what you would expect IMO. For the area, for the price...a solid 4. The room is a little dated but not horrid by any means. Super friendly and helpful staff. Balcony room has a nice patio area for 2. Very pleased with the stay. Would most certainly come back.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel! The rooms are well decorated and make you feel like you are in a boutique hotel instead of a large chain. Good location and walking distance to pretty much anything. The staff was nothing but nice and extemerly helpful.
Great value for the quality of service, the central location, and the quality of the rooms. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and check-in is very quick. Room feels big. It's quiet and clean. The location downtown is nice. I've never had many requirements for a hotel so overall this is everything I could ask for - helps that I'm here on business so am not paying out of pocket.
They recently renovated every room and now they are NICE. They're also pretty big. Fun decor, comfy bed, nice touches like USB ports along with wall outlets next to the bed. Best area hotel, not your regular courtyard property. Well done, renovated, super well managed, rooms good size for downtown US city. Good lobby chill out space. Good pricing for that city. Location 10 minutes to virtually anything you need.

Unfortunately, we were unable to stay here due to the clearance of our car (unrelated to club quarters- a SF parking garage issue). However, Brian was amazing and extremely helpful for the time we were there. If we could stay again without the parking debacle, we would. Thank you again to club quarters and Brian!
Excellent experience overall! Got into the city a bit sooner than expected, but Liz let us check-in early at no additional cost. Fantastic price point for staying in SF and great location. The hotel is very close to a Muni 1 Bus line, and has some good dining options nearby. Will definitely stay there again next time I’m in SF!
Loved the location. It's right close to chinatown but towards the safer part. It's close to most areas of the city so you are central to everything. The service was really good. They were quick to answer any questions and get us anything we needed. We were allowed an early check-in, and they held our luggage for us. The rooms were clean and quiet.
Had a solid time here - we arrived way too early (like 6 hours early) and were still able to get checked in for free. The location is amazing, the rooms are OK - you can read the other reviews about that. However, for the price this was phenomenal. Perfect for just crashing and sleeping while doing stuff throughout the day since it's so central. I'd come back and would recommend.
After a long drive from Mt Shasta, a busy Bay Bridge on a Saturday afternoon, we were pleasantly surprised and impressed by the quality of the room, especially being in the Financial District. The car park was literally around the corner too at a price of $37 per day, which is super cheap. The beds were super comfortable and the room was large enough for 4 large suitcases. The bathroom had all the...
The hotel and my room were clean and conveniently located. The room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable. Staff was very polite and helpful, too. My only complaint is their convenience technology, like a mobile key and screen casting from my phone to the TV, didn't work.

There isn't a comparison to the excellence that we have experienced with the staff during our stay. From the moment driving up, the valet was immediately there welcoming us and taking care of check-in. Stayed here many many times, always great! However this time there was a strike going on, very loud outside, and in the room early in the morning. But the hotel is lovely, historic and smells amazing inside! They have a lovely indoor pool too! Hopefully the staff on strike will recieve what they need and all can go back to normal. You definitely noticed the regular staff was not there!
Really really great experience at Palace Hotel. The service was amazing, the rooms were clean and room service provides dental kits, shaving kits, slippers at request, all high quality. There was a happy hour everyday from 4-7pm and they had free drinks and charcuterie. The pool and gym were clean and in good condition too. Only downside was the hot tub was pretty tepid and not really hot.
We stayed here 3 nights, during a labor strike. The strikers start at 7am sharp and go until 10pm, not just chanting but drums, whistles, and horns, continuously. Great views and rooms. The staff was very friendly and attentive to my needs. I'll definitely be back
The food and service was amazing. Our waiter, Kent, was extremely attentive and super polite. The salad we had was extremely fresh and everyone made our dining experience as pleasant as we had hoped it would be.
The facility was a gorgeous and nicely sized space for my company's annual meeting. The food was rather exceptional and the service set a new high bar. Hotel was in a great location and a good value. The rooms were clean but no frills. The view was awesome but the windows were so dirty I couldn't see out very well. The elevator always seemed to be busy and I often waited several minutes for a ride. Overall it was a decent stay and I would recommend staying here.
A bit outdated, but very swanky. They have a restaurant and a couple of bars in the lobby, and offer room service. Close to Chinatown (across the street!). Also close to Little Italy and the business district. We had a good size room and bathroom, with an excellent bay view. Thank you Marina for the good service.
Comfortable rooms. Building looks ugly from outside but it has good view. No microwave and fridge available. All tourist spots are reachable . Big bus and other hop on and hop off buses stops here. It requires a lot of fiddling around to eventually open the door. The breakfast is far below...

Stayed there for a night just before Xmas. The location is good and the taxi was able to take us there directly from the airport. The front desk staff were lovely and helpful - even recommending a good Chinese restaurant for dinner. The room was clean and a good size.
Had an amazing stay at this hotel. Perfectly situated next to Chinatown and easy access to main sights around SF. Great amenities, and delicious selection of hot breakfast to take away (due to the pandemic, not offering dine in). Staff were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Collins and his team! Would highly recommend
Always a great experience in San Francisco. Union Square and adjacent to Chinatown. Friendly staff. Green, 1st LEED certified hotel in The City. Family owned and run.
So clean, supper echo friendly. Amazing staff supper helpful with parking ,even did curtisy call to make sure we found the parking garage. Comfortable beds quite.
Good location right next to entrance Chinatown. Easy to get around from here. They were serving hot made to order grab and go breakfast. We took ours on the roof deck and.had a nice view of the city. Very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.
A little expensive. Good clean room. It really stinks having valet being mandatory and having a steep price in parking. Parking should be cheaper than that. Props to the valet team, they were very fast, very polite, and made it a little less painful.

Large and clean room with quiet great view of the city. Staff are friendly and helpful, convenient location with lots of commercial area around.
We went there for a brunch with family and friends for my birthday and expected to have a great treat for the celebration. However, the interior decor and seating area was just OK (a bit old and worn-out) and ambiance and the food were all just mediocre. The view we got from our dining table was facing a narrow street and not much to see. Overall, we felt that the brunch celebration experience was...
Had a great corner room, very large, well equipped. Staff extremely helpful as you would expect. Pricey but you are in downtown San Fran!
This hotel is five stars all around. The Market Street location is perfect for those taking BART, but they do have valet service if you don't mind paying. It's walking distance to many nearby bars, restaurants and shopping. I came here for holiday parties on different occasions and the decor, service and food were on point. The rooms were well maintained and had a modern, luxurious feel that makes...
I came to the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco to grab a drink at their bar. It is a beautiful space and the ambiance is very laid back. The volume was low enough so that you could carry out a conversation with your guests with normal indoor voices, but still lively enough. My experience was fantastic.
One of the best discreet places to meet friends for breakfast, happy hour or celebrations! It is so cozy and the food and wine selection divine. I love their lux breakfast options. A must if you want to impress someone or just have a heart to heart with a dear friend.

This is the most luxurious hotel in the world! It was a flawless, sparkling environment. It is suitable for both large parties and dates. For me it was a wonderful place to heal. We've had a good time so far. You'll need a decent vantage point to see the entire area. You did an amazing job!
Cozy lobby full of books, welcome any time of day and night. Huge event spaces under ground and above.
Wow! I was extremely impressed by this hotel. It was very big and nice looking, the rooms were nice, I was particularly impressed by the bar on the 39th floor. The views from up there were spectacular. The hotel's location was also very nice and convenient. I would love to stay there again. This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in to this date.
Everything was really good. The only trouble we ran into was having to deal with a very large event that was going on during our stay. There should have been an employee helping guests with the elevators when the conferences got out. We literally waited 20-25 minutes for elevators once, while other waits we're averaging 10 minutes. One of six elevators for non-conference guests would have been ideal...
This is a decent hotel in a pretty decent location on mission street in downtown San Francisco. The staff is friendly and efficient. They support mobile checkin. The biggest problem with this hotel is they charge $74 for valet parking. They told me that was the market rate for parking in this area. But still hard to swallow. Normally I ask the rate in advance and make decisions accordingly but I...
The service is here is always excellent. They often email before and after the stay to check on if I need(ed) anything. On my last trip they knew it was recently my birthday and left me a card and chocolate in the room. It’s the little things! I’ve stayed here probably six times over the last two years for work. The hotel is huge. Enormous. Billions of rooms and multiple elevators to get you there...

I admit to having reserved a one night stay for myself with very low expectations, given the location and inexpensive rate. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found - the small room was comfortable, relatively quiet, and spotless. I'd definitely return.
The best place to stay that only I can say. Value for money. Very clean n neat rooms. spacious corridor. 24x7 helping person on reception desk. Microwave for Self catering at the cafeteria with plates n cups. What else do u need for a stay ? A grocery shop is just adjacent to the hotel where you will easily get daily needed items n the best part is it's open from 9am to 9pm. Fully Satisfied.
I haven’t spent my full night yet, but I am very pleased with this hotel so far. Remember, 2-stars for a hotel is a classification system for how extensive it’s services are, not a measure of its quality. This hotel feels very high quality for its price point. Everything is very clean (and even new-looking), the location is great, the lobby is small but efficiently designed and inviting, and Wendy...
The front desk girls were so kind and helpful. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms as well. They are shared. Felt very safe. Good location for public transportation. Bart and Muni. Caltrain is a 30 minute walk or quick by transit.
As much as I can share. This place is fairly good. The rooms are fairly nice, it's somewhere between a hotel and a hostel, but more as a hotel. Clean in my opinion and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's really nothing for me to complain about other than the windows often getting stuck when I was trying to close or open it. Overall, good place to stay. Close to everything. A few walk near...
We were really pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the location in San Francisco is excellent! Just a three minutes walk to Chinatown, the powell/market cable car, the union square and many more. The room was small but sufficient for two adults and the (shared) toilets, showers and bathtubs were super clean and tidy at all times! The hotel also has a laundry room and a common room + kitchen with...

The place itself is quite dirty and smelly, but not too disgusting. There are plenty of amazing restaurants around, as the place is in close vicinity of Chinatown and italian joints. There are also several go go clubs, two of them on both sides, right next to the entrance, so it might not be the best place for families. Still, I feel it was worth its money.
The people who leave bad reviews here must think they're staying at a 5 star resort. You get what you pay for. There was nothing wrong with the rooms. They even came with a microwave, fridge and sink which I wasn't expecting. There's a giant window to open because they don't have A.C. but you don't really need it. It is above strip clubs, but no one tried to touch us. It's not super loud at night...

Small, clean, quaint rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I arrived a couple hours before my check in and they allowed me to upgrade for $15 into a room that was ready and that had its own bathroom. Very convenient location for shopping and other San Francisco activities.
It's ok for a few hours. Customer service was pretty good and satisfactory. They didn't have a kitchen or a kettle or mugs but reception was nice enough to give me hot water from the staff room. The rooms are tiny and you can hear everything going On in the hall. They do have more than basic things, which I liked, for example, toiletry, iron, etc. staff guides you to where you can go if you have...
It's okay. Extremely small rooms, no fans or anything for air circulation so we had to have the windows open. This made it even louder (which made it hard to sleep) then it already was with the street noise. Also very bright as the hallway lights shine through the rooms. Bed was comfy and liked that it had a bath.
If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around... It's a cute old hotel with a really convenient location off 4th and mission. I stayed in a shared bathroom queen, and the shared bathroom and shower facilities were kept very clean. I greatly enjoyed our stay here. Prices were slightly cheaper than other hotels in the area and it satisfied our needs for a three night stay for two people. Rooms are on the smaller side, as well as our private bathroom, but if you just need a place to go back to at night after exploring the city, I recommend this hotel. Room was very clean, staff was somewhat friendly. Very light breakfast offered...
Comfortable and close to everything. Rooms are a little bit smaller but cozy. Good customer service by friendly staffs.
