Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront

This is the third time I've made this review and apparently they keep deleting it. Went to stay there for a week back in August and it was a big joke. The room was just a basic two bedroom it was nothing special for the price you paid. Being a Hilton on the ocean front you would have expected better service, better hospitality, and even a better room. One of the people with me needed handicap accessible and they didn't have that. They offered nothing to compensate. When we arrived the valet was backed up down the street. The valet had no organization, nobody knew what was going on. It was absolutely ridiculous. The people at the front desk were not overly friendly, none of the service was over the top as you would expect from a hilton. We ended up having to leave the next day because the room just wasn't satisfactory and they would do nothing to accommodate us. They say they offer room service but there's no phone number or menu in the room that tells you what to call for room service. When I called the front desk to ask it just rang and rang and rang and nobody ever answered. We ended up going to another Oceanfront Hotel that cost less with a bigger room on the ocean front. I will never stay at that hotel again. It is absolutely pathetic.

Edit to add: called the call back number and was met with the rudest operator, and GM. I had to remind them they work in hospitality before they started name calling and scolding me for not talking to the manager during my holiday stay. I wouldn’t bother calling the number below for issues. The GM is clearly running this place like a slum.***
Absolutely not. Booked with Hilton expecting a relaxing vacation but it was the farthest thing from that.
1. There are no “do not disturb” hang tags provided, and housekeeping comes at various hours and will straight up bang on your door, even if they see that the door is clearly locked. I was woken up from on all three days of my stay with my heart rate in my throat from how hard they were banging on the door.
2. Elevators. There are, on a good day, 3 elevators for a 21 story hotel. This already doesn’t feel like is up to code. But my entire stay, I spent about 2 hours a day waiting for the elevators. 1-2 of the 3 were broken on any given day. Elevator lines pour out to the street, absolutely ludicrous.
3. Rooftop pool was dirty, filled with trash and debris and so overcrowded with screaming children (bar side) it was unusable, and not a single square inch was open to even dip your toes in. Not to mention, people were allowed to swim in their street clothes, so gross.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days. The night that we checked, we placed the Do Not Disturb sign on our door. We did not expect any services in our room by the housekeeping staff.

The next morning as we were heart to the beach, a housekeeping staff was immediately outside our door with his cart servicing the room next to us. My husband asked the gentlemen for a replacement shampoo since he used the one in the bathroom. Added putting it in the room, we proceeded to the beach.

That evening, I went to get money out of my wallet to pay for something and it was gone. I went to hotel security to let them know what happened and they checked their room Kerry entry system to see who has gone in our room that day. The system should that shortly after we went to the beach, the housekeeper entered our room even though we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and was in our room for only 3 minutes.

Security handled the matter professionally and efficiently, my poor rating is for the performance of the General Manager, Mr Slutter. He left a message in our room that he would call me the next morning but he did not call. I called him and I was told he was out of the office. It has been 2 weeks since this incident and I have tried to call him numerous times, left several messages and he has not called me yet!

This is a poor reflection on our very nice high end Hilton property.

If you stay here, make sure you have your valuables on your person because the Virginia Beach detective I have been in contact with said the safes in the hotel rooms really aren't that much more secure.

I was very disappointed with this stay. I wanted a relaxing weekend stay for my wife and I, but it was not particularly relaxing. The bathroom sink was very annoying as it made gurgling noises the whole time we were there. When we sat on our balcony, the guest next door to us chose to sit on their balcony and smoke marijuana. Very disturbing! The staff seemed pretty nice, but we were not happy with our room at all. For the price we paid, we definitely did not enjoy this trip. Not worth the price!!
