Mercure Ballarat Hotel and Convention Centre
Ballarat, 613 Main Road 🧭 Map
Stayed for a conference. Room was in the 40 block. Room was dated and had maintenance issues. Heating was good, but bed a bit soft for my liking. From the Eureka meeting room we could clearly hear the kitchen working and a trolley rolling through the back corridor, suggest soundproofing. Customer service was good. Overall an average stay, but rooms need a refurbishment.
The rooms a quite different at this place. I’ve stayed 3 times at a good rate. So I gave it 5 stars for the price. Some things did not work in the rooms mainly the tv and internet but I will say the first room I stayed in was working fine.but it did smell water damaged. Don’t expect perfection unless you pay for it, overall it’s one of the best places I’ve stayed in Ballarat.
Good night spent, would book again.
Quiet place but just not the room we paid for. Reception a bit slow. But overall its good place to stay with.
Old, beautiful environment, very close to Sovereign Hill

I was a bit disappointed there was no hot water for the showers.😔
Very good location next to Ballarat Gold Mine.
the hotel was pretty good the beds were nice I got to test them out VERY well HOWEVER the buffet was kinda below average the waiter accidentally ( I hope ) dropped a fork on my brother Sam he is still in pain. The food Wasnt very good either no hash browns or pancakes or waffles . Also no Nutella And there was also MULTIPLE hairs in our food. I do not recommend eating there. Over all the buffet experience...
The Hotel just located beside Sovereign Hill, We purchase as a package with the park so there are some extra perks when visiting the place. Look at their Sovereign Hill website for the package for the accommodation. The hotel room is cosy and comfort. Room are pretty new and I had a good stay there.
This hotel is actually connected to the gold mine. In the past, there was a back door, and you could buy tickets for the gold mine at the hotel, but now it doesn't work. But it's not far around the front. The architectural style is Victorian style, and the internal facilities are also very good, which can be used as an additional content for gold mine visits. recommend
The location of Sovereign Hill Hotel is very good, just across the road is the Golden Town. The view from the room is nice and there is a coffee maker in the room. The heater is big and warm.

Our room had no windows or balcony , it felt like a jail room .
Beds were uncomfortable, pillows and mattress not good either , bed squeaky .
Phone was out of order
Lift not practical
Tv was an old and small hidden in an old style cupboard.
Not enough power points in the room .
Location is exceptional though staff were very nice and helpful .
Bathroom was very good 👍🏾
Good hotel, good location. Street parking is available and not too busy.
The hotel itself if fantastic heritage building, I liked the location and historic atmosphere. Be prepared to check-in at the bar, if there is nobody at the reception and to pay for street parking, as hotel parking may be full. The room is nice, a but outdated, but clean, and that is not that bad for heritage hotel
The hotel is located in the center of Ballarat. It was founded in 1853 and still retains the 19th century decoration style. As a historic hotel, the overall environment of the room is clean and tidy, and the facilities are well maintained.
The hotel staff is very enthusiastic and will introduce the various facilities of the hotel in detail when checking in.
Parking is available at the door of the hotel...
I would say I have some mixed feelings about this hotel. I like the building; it is truly a historical building. However, there is a lack of staff. I sometimes have to wait for the staff. Other than that, I loved the room. The hardware is great, but the software issue caused an overall error.
Very classic hotel, really like go into a history.

Appreciated the 24 reception services. It is helpful when we travel by public transport as we can’t control the time.
Very happy with the location as it was very convenient. Breakfast quite healthy.
Clean rooms.
Having warm globes and an exhaust fan in the bathroom would be useful .
I arrived at 2am called after hours entry instant service would highly recommend
We travelled down on the 22nd of August 2025 for 2 nights. We wanted somewhere close to town and good value. From our view you can't beat the Mid City. Yes the rooms are a little dated but they were clean, had good showers, it was quiet, breakfast was great, hosts lovely and the location was excellent.
Highly recommend this accomodation if wanting to explore Ballarat and enjoy walking distance to dinner/ shopping etc. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Buffet style breakfast with a coffee machine included in our booking and it was exceptional, highly recommend getting the breakfast. Bed and pillows were great and had a fantastic night sleep with quiet surrounds and wonderful light blocking out...
Travelled from Sydney to Melbourne and this was the best stop. Rooms little old but clean and roomy. Beautiful big towels. Great location. Breakfast delicious. Ate both nights at the hotel and meals delicious. Owners and Peta doing everything to make this a friendly and enjoyable place to stay. Keep up the good work guys👍

We stayed in 2 rooms with my family and it was exceptional. Yes its older style but very clean and tidy. Kids loved the pool also very clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Value for money is crazy good. We will definitely be back.
The Bell Tower lnn has been a favourite of my family going back 20 or so years as my parents always stayed there when visiting Ballarat based family . I now carry the tradition , the consideration and care of staff , the cleanliness of rooms all go to a really enjoyable stay. Thank you to the Bell Tower , specially Ray and Tina for top notch customer service . Many thanks .
The experience there was amazing. The service was great. There was a restaurant in the hotel. Everything was organised.
Nice place to stay,
Forgot to let owner know, there was no hair dryer and one bedside lamp didn’t work,
But didn’t affect our stay
We had a great time visiting this Hotel.
The room was so clean and spacious. We were right across the pool/spa area. The pool... wow! Very clean, well-maintained, and with nearby bathrooms that were very convenient. The water was at a perfect temperature and very clean.
We are looking forward to returning soon! The only thing was that the jet tub didn't work, but we enjoyed the other amenities...
For a last second booking through Bookings.com I have to say it was not bad. Good sized shower for 2. Massive room that you could swing a cat. We were very comfortable. Check in and out was easy.

I stayed there two nights and had three meals in the hotel. The staff friendly and welcoming; the stay was perfect. Clean, comfortable, quiet -- all that one asks for in a hotel. The breakfast was fantastic. I had the scrambled eggs on sourdough toast with bacon. Huge and delicious. I was there on Wednesday for 'Parm' night (it is Australia after all). Lovely meal. I WANT TO THANK YOU ALL FOR THE AMAZING HOSPITALITY TONIGHT, YOU ALL WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR MY SPECIAL NIGHT THE BIG 50.IT WAS LOVELY TO HAVE SUCH A PLEASURABLE EXPERIENCE I RATE YOUR FOOD A 20 OUT OF 10 WILL BE BACK FOR SURE 😊 AND THE STAFF WERE SO ACCOMODATING AND VERY PLEASANT TO BE AROUND
Such a lovely traditional hotel in the middle of town. Super clean, well maintained and the facilities are fabulous. We booked a king room which was great, well designed and the room was quite large with everything we needed including a mini bar.
Lovely old hotel that has been renovated. Guest rooms were very comfortable. Only thing missing was a hair dryer. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the dining area was excellent but there are also many other dining options within a short walk away. We would happily stay here again.
We've stayed here a few times for various functions and the rooms are great. Nice and warm, which is great for this time of the year in Ballarat. We had breakfast at the cafe. Unfortunately it was fairly underwhelming. Our poached eggs were harder than a cats head, and the hash brown shattered when pierced with a fork. Coffee was very good though.

Everything! The room was absolutely gorgeous! The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional.
This boutique hotel met all my needs and more during a recent stay in Ballarat. It was a 5-minute walk down the road to the train station to go to Melbourne, and located in the heart of the town so it was walking distance to restaurants, supermarkets, and many local attractions. I was pleased with the on-site car parking as it was very secure, and the hotel room decor was charming - and looks just...
Overpriced for amenities included, but clean, plenty of hot water, secure and undercover parking. Easy walk to many restaurants. Room was ok, if needing a bit of a refresh (not enough to get really serious about though). We stayed because it was one of the only rooms available over a long weekend without pre booking. Close to the Irish pub, which was where we were heading.
We stayed at this hotel as part of a 50th birthday party. It’s definitely a boutique hotel situated in an old historic building which has been extensively renovated. The rooms have an old worldly feel. The whole place is a bit of a rabbit warren starting with the entry to the undercover garage. It wasn’t a problem at all, just unusual. The hotel is clean, tastefully furnished and in a great location...
Lovely hotel in great location. The room was very cosy with the gas log fire great off street parking and plenty off restaurants to choose from in the area.Walking distance to Main Street of Ballarat,we would definitely stay again.
We chose this place for a weekend in Ballarat and were particularly interested in the central location. The reception staff were most helpful as we extended a further night and they were able to cater for us easily. The car park on site was secure and convenient but appeared to under-cater for the number of booked rooms. The room itself was comfortable and tidy, but not necessarily clean throughout...

Everything about our trip to Kryal castle was amazing…. my family loved it
Amazing place. I honestly can not say enough about how fantastic the staff are.
The room we stayed in was awesome. Clean neat & very comfortable with stunning views.
The dinning was superb.
DO NOT miss out on the breakfast feast.
The events throughout the day were incredible.
All the shops, activities & other attractions are simply perfect.
Making the time to get to Kryal Castle will do disappoint...
Visited Kryal Castle for the Fairies and Goblins event and had the best time! Staff were friendly and seem like they enjoy being there. Lots of unique and locally made/crafted gifts and enjoyment for both kids and adults. The horses probably my highlight, beautiful and incredibly well trained.
Attended a medieval fair and jousting competition and was able to wander the castle too.
Lots to look at, to eat or drink, and the people were all friendly and so an enjoyable venue.
Was worth the entry price and just sorry I'd not visited before. But was with family this time and that made it a very enjoyable family day, with fun exploring the fair stalls as well as the castle facilities.

This is a great and uniq place. The kids had the time of their lives. So much fun stuff to do, all is well maintained and looks incredible. The staff here are the best part they are AWESOME, they do their roles to the top, and make the whole day worthwhile. The sword fighting guy was especially great and made our kid so happy. The shows are funny and entertaining. We highly highly recommend it.
My daughters had a blast yesterday! There was no time wasted since there were a lot of activities going around. My eldest daughter was specifically delighted with her glow in the dark tattoo. Shout out to the tattoo guy who did a great job! The dragon shows were fantastic. Even adults had a great time watching the show. Well done!👏🏼

This is a good value for money motel, located next to Ballarat train station, very close. The family travel booked a family suite, which is equivalent to one bedroom, one living room and one bathroom, with three beds in the living room and a double bed in the bedroom. The room is well equipped with a refrigerator, microwave and oven, etc. If you don't have too high requirements for hygiene conditions...
Property was nice. There were a few minor property condition issues but nothing to upset our stay. Room was as pictured. Room was advertised with room service available but there was not. Other than toilet paper and a tiny bar of soap there were no toiletries such as shampoo conditioner or sanitary desposal bags
Had a great one night stay at seymours luxury king villa was exactly that. Great price aswell
Older property but clean & comfortable. Undercover off street parking for each room. Walking distance to public transport, shopping, restaurants & nightlife.
Overall very pleasant stay, thank you.
I have stayed at Seymours on many occasions. The on-site manager is always very welcoming, efficient and helpful. The room I stayed in on this occasion (as with past rooms on past occasions) was spacious, clean and very well resourced.

Lovely heritage building, and fantastic improvements have been made since my last start 15 odd years ago.
Staff really friendly too. A small lake on the 55 acres. Also spa & sauna, as well as a swimming pool too.
Beautiful areas around the ground to walk or cycle around. ( can be hired through the back barn area)
A lovely country experience!Staying in a heritage building with all the comforts of home was delightful. The facilities at the resort were excellent. A spa, sauna, gym, heated swimming pool, bikes, frisbee golf and much more. I especially appreciated the lake where you could relax or take part in water sports.
Georgeous accommodation, loved the heritage of the place, great facilities and heaps of activies. Clean spacious rooms and loved the floor heating in the bathrooms.
This was such an amazing property full of history! Absolutely loved staying there!
No complaints at all. Good staff, good property, good amenities.
This place is fantastic! The pool was heated, we went bike riding around the lake, canoed, paddle-boated, played tennis, and so much more. This would be a great place to stay for families and couples. The room was cosy and quaint and had everything you need for a great stay, even heated bathroom floor. We can't wait to go back!!

Centre of town and right across the theatre. Beautiful building but needs some love. We were downstairs in a room near reception and you can hear everything in the hall. The blinds don't cover all the light as well so you get light coming in from the hallway, if you need absolute darkness, this is not for you.
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Considering my room was less than half of the cost of other accommodation in the area I was pleasantly surprised. The room was neat, very clean and light.
Lovely hotel great staff. Stayed here just a little while back. Old world charm. Family had spooky encounter when I was carrying food up to room the door opened before I got there and my wife and two kids (14 and 16) heard it and thought it was me. Very Friendly lol

Only went here for drinks in the bar, in the past I have eaten in the bistro as well. The place is large, the service is good and the food is classic pub food. Not particularly intimate or quiet though.
We celebrated my Dad's 70th here and it was just perfect. The beer garden was a great spot for a party on a warm summer evening. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you everyone for a great night.
Been there twice now.
Both times my steak has been cooked at the right level of doneness, which is something I've found other pubs having difficulty with in the past.
Food is good, reasonably priced and kids meals also good. Good beers on tap. Friendly and helpful staff willing to make changes to menu items.

Basic breakfast. Comfy bed and pilliows. The hotel has lots of character.
Rural, rustic old pub, pub meals, so much charm and great to catch up with the Howlett side of the family
We had lunch here one Friday. The BLT was good, the potato wedges the best I have ever had.
It is a charming and rather quaint Australian pub.
It’s an old pub with history and attitude. You don’t pay a lot to stay here. …Well worth it if you are happy to share bathroom, kitchen and toilet. Walls are paper thin to noise: not helpful as one of the compressors sits in the kitchen next to a bedroom. Bits of the building might also spontaneously fall off in your hands. Food is simple and people are bluntly friendly.

This is a camping area. We stayed in a miner's cabin, which can accommodate six people. It is small but has everything. It is very warm, but the musty smell is very strong. I was allergic as soon as I entered. The floor in the room is very dirty. It is recommended to bring your own slippers. The temperature difference between morning and night is very large. There is a heater in the room.
Nice weekend stay in one of the small cottages. Had a wedding in the area and this was plenty big enough for what we needed. Cheers for the late checkout team, we really appreciated it.
It is ideal for those on holiday and kids - not those travelling for work. It is advertised as having WiFi- I work remotely and specifically booked as it stated it had WiFi - so it came as a shock when I asked for the Wifi password when I arrived to be told that the WiFi was virtually non existent. (and it wasn't available as I tried with the password I was given) This meant I had booked for a service...
Great property for the reason we were there.
Transport was organised for the event (side issues).
