Ballarat, 223 Main Road 🧭 Map
The room was very modern and clean, the location and amenities are above average, order the sticky date pudding from room service and you wont be disappointed, i ordered a corner spa and it didn’t blow properly thats the only negative
Rooms are clean, comfortable and serviced to hotel standard. Friendly team, always happy to help. Good meals and a good wine selection. Great place to stay if passing through or visiting Sovereign Hill. Uber under $11 to train station. Highly recommend.
A weekend break away with the girls. Great service. We were given full access to all services. Given extra late checkout. The girls were offered access to games room later in the evening. Helpful and Generous. The beds were really good. Always hope when you stay away the beds will be worth the night away and we can say they were a delight to sleep in. Everything was set up in the room ready to enjoy
Stayed here before, but every time I do, I love it. The convenience of the restaurant next door and very short drive to town square. The best breakfast delivered to my room that I've had in a long time. Good old avocado, tomato, feta and fried egg on toast. It was delicious! Highly recommend. We were also lucky enough to have a spa suite, which was utilised in the morning and before bed. So...
Stayed here over the weekend and was a absolute pleasure. The staff were wonderful, the location was great and close to everything. The pool area and spa were spot on and the restaurant was great to. We stayed in the "York house" and was definitely spacious enough for me, my partner and two kids. Will definitely stay again if im ever in the area.
My family and I loved Sovereign Park Motel. Rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable. Staff are so lovely and friendly. The pool with water fountains is fantastic for kids, a big drawcard. The Red Lion pub/restaurant a few metres from our door was so convenient serving top quality tasty meals. Could not fault. We can’t wait to come back and will stay here every time now. Thanks Sovereign Park!

The room was excellent. Very spacious and Very Clean. Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast exceeded our expectations, with a very private table and a variety of food on offer. Can't fault our stay.
Fantastic show of the aura and fantastic time at the gold mining town , panning for gold ect was fantastic fun , stayed one night rooms looked brilliant , the only let down was the place could do with a proper clean , dust was thick around the skirting that thick you notice it . Same with the bottom of the blinds , you close the curtains and the dust flies everywhere, the white bed sheets and pillowcases...
A nice peaceful place to stay. Friendly staff too. We only stayed 1 night while travelling through. Pro's: Beautiful spot in a picturesque part of the country. Quiet and serene location away from the hubbub of Ballarat. Spacious room (#48) with comfortable bed. Restful sleep. Con's: Sparse furnishings with nowhere to place a suitcase without taking up all the table space. Plenty of power points....
It had been a long time since I'd been to see the night show at Sovereign Hill and so my sister and I planned an overnight trip. We booked our tickets to Sovereign Hill, the night show, and also our accommodation all on the website which made things easy. You can check-in to the hotel from 2pm so we arrived around 11.30am and spent the better part of the day wandering around exploring the historical...
I really liked the fact that there was a coffee machine in the room which used those liquid capsules & from what it seemed,if u ran out of capsules in your room, there was a good supply of capsules & a few other resources supplied at the reception. Not sure if it was an added extra because my sweet partner paid for the accommodation, but we also enjoyed a dinner which was provided just before a spectacular...
Absolutely loved my stay at the Sovereign Hill Hotel. A beautiful, modern hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. The breakfast buffet was delicious; I definitely recommend it for the $18.

Better than expected with the whole experience. Didn't get to use the restaurant but will next time. Loved the late (11am) checkout. So pretty at night with the big pond & fountain lit up. We were able to check on a bit early, which was much appreciated. Definitely recommend.
This is the second time we have stayed here. We got the upgraded room this time. It's worth it. The staff were so friendly. We had the buffet breakfast which was awesome. Except for the pancake maker. I thought they were horrible. Putting the aside this stay deserves 5 stars. One last thing , the gardens are amazing and who ever is doing your gardening maintenance deserves some real praise. The gardens...
My sister, her partner and myself had Christmas lunch here,we also had 2 rooms, the evening meal and breakfast. The whole experience was just wonderful. The staff couldn't be anymore helpful, the meals were 5 star and setting was just beautiful. Thank you for help making some wonderful memories. We will back next year. Jocelyn
What a little treasure, set in woodlands with bird song. The coffee and cakes (made in house) are just delicious. Try the sweet potato chips they are up a level on the French fries. Good parking too, real wood fires are such an welcome on a cold day. Good menu and kids portions. The little lake is a good place to sit out on a good sunny day.
Nice place to stay for passing through, highly suggest getting the add on breakfast. Lots of range and warm fireplace. Great coffee and buffet breakfast Room was tidy and clean, staff were understanding and pleasant. Beds soft and plush. Grounds are lovely around the lake and decking area, plenty of space between rooms. We didn't hear our neighbors at all room could do with better position of power...

The kids were able to use the pool witch was great for the kids to let out some energy and we were all in the same room witch was great being a mum with 2 kids was good to all be in the same room good heating lady fixed the toilet to with was realy great
The rooms are fantastic. There is a bathtub and there is basically all the things you need. The pool was nice and I had fun in the pool where it is so bubbly. However, I do have a few problems in here. The WiFi keeps on turning off and on and it was so annoying when I tried to get it working.
First time staying here as my usual motel was booked up. We had a family room with interconnected rooms. Reception lady was lovely and polite. They provided a fan on my request. They gave complimentary milk. The room was lovely and so big. They had a big bath and powerful shower. The receptionist was more than happy to help us with unlocking the sliding door as we couldn’t get it open. Now a few little...
Better than what we expected, we booked a pet friendly room as we were travelling with dogs. The room was large with an equally large ensuit. Our room was back from the road, which made it was very quiet, easy parking out the front of the room without 4x4 height restrictions. Will definitely be back if travelling through.
We stayed with friends on 4th and 5th Nov. Rooms 15 and 16. Spacious rooms and bathrooms, all very clean and being away from the road it was quiet. Breakfast both days was great value and all fresh ingredients. Staff are friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again. The position was perfect for us as we wanted to be on the western side of town.
A classic motel! Yes the building is dated, but it is meticulously clean, the beds are firm, rooms are large and our room opened onto a delightful central rose garden. If you’re passing through Ballarat and looking for a comfortable place to stay - definitely recommend.

Quiet spot, very clean room, easy to book, check in and park. Service was kind, other guests were pretty quiet. The spa was lovely, although quite loud - would also be super nice to have a lower light in the bathroom for the spa - we ended up taking the lamp from the bedroom in as the bathroom light was too bright for sitting in the spa. Would LOVE a non-dairy milk option in the fridge and another...
Great rooms, very comfortable beds, bathrooms are excellent and our stay was made better by the amazing reception experience. Having to stay near St. John of God hospital to have an op this was the perfect place, approx 500 metres away. Bonus was calling direct and receiving a hospital discount on our rate. Would highly recommend
Really spacious, comfortable room with two couches made us feel at home! Desk and table were very welcome. Great view to City Oval across the road, close to the lake and a cafe on-site was very handy. The shower door was a bit problematic, but I'm sure that could be fixed easily. We'll be back!
Great quiet location within a minute’s walk from the lake. The room was huge with a large seating area. Great value for money. Easy booking in and key deposit box for our early start in the morning.
Totally above my expectations. Terrific high quality room. Great location for food and a visit to the pub and walk about. I will be booking again.100%.
Huge room , very comfy bed, .short walk to Lake Wendouree. Has a pub next door and IGA and chemist nearby.

from the staff to the atmosphere of the motel, everything is excellent! the place is peaceful, we take the time to answer all our questions and the employees are very caring even when they are busy elsewhere. The beds are comfortable, perfect for staying with family to visit Ballarat or with friends / couple for a little relaxation! I will come back !
My friends spent a couple nights in the hotel when they came to visit me. Even though there was a minor incident where my friends forgot a small bag in the room when they checked out, the staff collected the bad and returned to us straightway. Recommended for their professional customer service!
A fantastic place in a special spot in Ballarat. The room was well kitted out, with a beautiful modernist decor. The resturant for breakfast was wonderful. All in all a fantastic time. And great value for money I hadn't been to Ballarat for a ling time and it is now very cool. Lots of cafes, museums, galleries and bars.
Kylie and the team are great for a night, a week or a few hrs. Great facilities and reasonable rates
Older style motel, bathroom a bit tired but huge new tv and nice crisp bedding and towels. Would stay again

Central location with free parking close by, and near to dining venues. Well-presented and comfortable room.
This is a kool venue with multiple different rooms that lead into an outdoor open well-lit alley area. The only negatives in my experience is that the bar is one of those places with sticky floors/benches so could perhaps use some additional cleaning. Also the outdoor area can get rather breezy so a heater or two would be nice.
By far the highlight of our Ballarat trip. Before setting foot inside the gaming area, we were awed by the well-preserved 1850’s building. The gaming area itself was well designed and spacious, and offered a decent selection of machines. Once you hit collect, be sure to spend some time by the ambient fireplace - if you’re lucky there might even be a movie on (for us, it was The Hobbit; upsettingly...
Very comfortable bed. Lovely room. My only complaint is we are early risers and wanted to get an early start for home but there was no way to exit the George. Or bill was all paid.
As good as it gets!! We dined at The George and it was an excellent experience. The dining area is well laid out with plenty of space, and privacy in the booths. The food was fantastic. Our slight variation in the order was accommodated and the food was top notch. Particularly impressed by the serving sizes - very generous, especially the salad. The food itself was excellent. Service was great. Our...
Very beautiful historic building. Gorgeous lights, ceilings, handrails, cornice... Room had everything. Helpful staff. Very tasty menu at the attached restaurant. The room had lots of mirrors, including full length. The bed is big & comfortable. The spa bath is good if you have any aches and pains. Just remember to fill the bath past the jets level! Nearby access to the high rise car park is handy when the majority of carparks in Ballarat central are meter or max 2 hour parking. First it was warm which is a bonus on a cold Ballarat day. We were in the garden room for a birthday celebration and there was a good selection of drinks on offer. The venue was big enough for quite a crowd and the food offerings were great. We had a lovely stay at Oscars. The room is quite small with not much room to move. It was all good for 1 night though. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and lovely to deal with. The restaurant area is lovely and the beer garden really nice to sit in and relax. The bed was really comfortable and the room clean.
The restaurant staff are all excellent. In particular Finn who is super courteous friendly and provided great recommendations. The menu is good bistro food and caters to all special dietary groups. Dessert options were great with gluten free, small serves with some items. We were so happy with the lunch we booked our next friends catch up for 2 weeks time.
This review is ONLY for the Cafe/Bar of this establishment as we did not stay at this hotel so can not say its good or bad. my experience at the cafe was absolutely divine: our waiter, Finn was very polite and pleasant, he was attentive and always smiling (the interesting thing to me is that waiters do NOT work for TIPS in Australia) and food was very good! Visited Kryal Castle for the Fairies and Goblins event and had the best time! Staff were friendly and seem like they enjoy being there. Lots of unique and locally made/crafted gifts and enjoyment for both kids and adults. The horses probably my highlight, beautiful and incredibly well trained.
Attended a medieval fair and jousting competition and was able to wander the castle too. Lots to look at, to eat or drink, and the people were all friendly and so an enjoyable venue. This is a great and uniq place. The kids had the time of their lives. So much fun stuff to do, all is well maintained and looks incredible. The staff here are the best part they are AWESOME, they do their roles to the top, and make the whole day worthwhile. The sword fighting guy was especially great and made our kid so happy. The shows are funny and entertaining. We highly highly recommend it.
My daughters had a blast yesterday! There was no time wasted since there were a lot of activities going around. My eldest daughter was specifically delighted with her glow in the dark tattoo. Shout out to the tattoo guy who did a great job! The dragon shows were fantastic. Even adults had a great time watching the show. Well done!👏🏼

What a fascinating place to stay - full of history. Plenty for the grandkids to do with the playground, lake, jumping castle and swimming pool. There is also a big playground just up the road. The outdoor bbq's could probably do with a bit more cover considering Ballarat hasn't got the best weather but we hit a good patch. Nice place to relax on the 55 acre grounds, rooms are a great size and well appointed, the staff are tremendous easy to talk to and well knowledged in the history of the property. Away from Ballarat city centre but by only 7 minutes, so close enough.
heritage-listed mansion built in 1878 on an idyllic 55-acre retreat of manicured lawns, gorgeous gardens, and a sparkling lake ideal for fishing and boating. Converted into full self-contained rooms. The staff were all very knowledgeable on the history of the building, which is a plus in my books.
Very pretty looking rooms 😍 And extremely well kept. The pool was the perfect temperature and was not cold even though it was 7 pm. I definitely recommend it.

Shared high tea with my daughter very disappointed with it. I have been to several in other places never been let down but I opted for orange juice but it appeared to be a powder mixed with water certainly wasn't juice, sandwiches bread far too thick fillings boring, crusts should be cut off. We were staying here overnight while working in the local area. Rooms were basic with all the necessities, tidy and excellent value for money and the check-in process was smooth. One thing to note is that breakfast doesn't kick off until 7am, so if you need to leave early you might miss out.
The rooms were fresh painted. New towels and curtains. The amenities were clean and looked updated. Clean and comfortable for a night stay. Continental breakfast was served in a hostel-style room with making your own. The unfriendly guy at the reception put a damper on our stay and left a ? if I would stay next time.
1 night stay room was equipped with all the necessary facilities, microwave, toaster, kettle. Bathroom was a little unusual with having to walk through the shower to get to the vanity, but shower rose in ceiling was an excellent use of the space.

Only went here for drinks in the bar, in the past I have eaten in the bistro as well. The place is large, the service is good and the food is classic pub food. Not particularly intimate or quiet though.
We celebrated my Dad's 70th here and it was just perfect. The beer garden was a great spot for a party on a warm summer evening. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was delicious and plentiful. Thank you everyone for a great night.
Been there twice now. Both times my steak has been cooked at the right level of doneness, which is something I've found other pubs having difficulty with in the past. Food is good, reasonably priced and kids meals also good. Good beers on tap. Friendly and helpful staff willing to make changes to menu items.
Such a big space and a great place for date night. Impressed with their supper and different areas for congregating. Staff are so helpful and friendly. The outdoor alfresco area is separate and great for functions.
Great spot for a quiet beer or 7, lounges spread throughout, a sports bar & even a table top video game! Great food to boot.
