Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel by APA

This is a great location if you’re looking to check out the downtown Edmonton area, it’s very accessible and accommodating to the ICE District and Roger’s place and only a few stops away by train from Commonwealth Stadium. Unfortunately there was construction everywhere when I visited but this is not something Coast has any control over. Check-in service was quick and easy. All the counter staff were kind and very easy to work with. My room was okay, it seemed somewhat maintained but I ran into a few issues.

1. Cleanliness could have been better observed, there was a coffee stain on one of the surfaces as well as a coffee stain on the comforter on the bed. Unfortunately I didn’t notice the stain on the comforter until my last day there or I would have requested a new room right away.

2. I noticed some grime, dirt and debris in the corners of the washroom, the towels were old, crusty and tattered and left me feeling sticky after using. Lastly I was worried the toilet was not fully cleaned or sanitized as there was tissue left in the bowl upon my first use of the facility, therefore I never had the chance to try the bidet. Water pressure could have been better but this is more of a nitpick than anything.

3. The mattress was not comfortable at all. It felt like I was lying on a lumpy wooden board, I had to change positions continually throughout the night and never once was able to be comfortable.

The view was great, the restaurant was also not too bad. I would have liked a bit of a larger portion for my breakfast but aside from this it was satisfactory.

Overall I would rate this 2.5/5 stars, Google says 3.

Was put on a pet friendly floor. No problem with that except the fact that our room reeked of someone’s pet. Not only did it smell like several dogs stayed here it appeared that way as well. Pet hair fills the carpets, as well as our nose. We found it difficult to cope with the smell even with the window let open for the entire duration of our stay. I am not one to complain but this is truly disappointing.

Location was excellent, but everything else was mediocre. Housekeeping came the second day and emptied the garbages, but didn’t make our bed. We never saw them for the rest of the trip. We had to ask for towels on our last day. The bathroom needs better lighting and a nicer shower. The pool is lacklustre and the ceiling was leaking liquid into the pool. Bed was comfortable and Toto bidet was a nice touch.

The room was great but they did not have certain things already in place, though you could request most things and they will have it delivered for you.

Sign in bathroom says you can buy the rosemary bath gel (which is really nice), but front desk staff don't know the price off hand and they have none in stock.
