Ramada by Wyndham Fredericton

My husband and I stayed at the Ramada in Fredericton for two nights. We chose Fredericton which is a beautiful town because it was under the path of the solar eclipse and seem like a lovely place for my birthday celebration.

I remember when I was younger that staying at a Ramada felt like such a luxurious feeling but that is long gone. Staying in the room felt kind of depressing, whereas I had hoped to have that luxurious feeling for my birthday.

The check in experience at the hotel was wonderful and the staff were really friendly.

However, the photos of the room are not even close to being accurate of the rooms themselves. I had 'upgraded' to a business class room which are only available on the second floor. Already people with accessibility needs are going to have a difficult time accessing the rooms.

The rooms are a lot smaller than the pictures show and do not have a double couch. The king size bed is pushed up against the wall to be able to fit all the furniture in. The TV is quite small for an upgraded room.

The main issues I had with the room was that it was extremely dated. Although the cleaning stuff seemed to do a good job, because it's so old and hasn't been updated in such a long time, everything felt dirty, but not in an unclean way. It just felt like there was too much history on every surface. The linen on the bed was Finn and should have been updated years ago. The towels were all extremely small and thread bare. The carpet was extremely worn.

The bottom of the bathtub had those markings as if there had been non-slip matte on it at one time but it was well gone. It made the bathtub a little slippery when you had expected some traction. For my second shower I didn't even bother getting in but rather sit outside and just washed what I could.

The pool is a lot smaller than is shown in the pictures, but it does seem this spent more on the courtyard than the rooms themselves. I only ate one meal at the restaurant which was breakfast. I would have expected something like this to be included at the price in most hotels of this caliber. It was only okay, nothing great.

Again, the staff were amazing and very friendly but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would I stay there again.

Checked in around 3:00am after a long flight, and went to have shower. Within 2 minutes the tub was filled halfway with water. Notified the front desk and they stated that someone would be in the following day to fix it.

Due to schedule changes with work, I asked to reduce my stay which wasn’t an issue. Once the shift changed again, I asked if was able to stay one more night, or potentially even just have an extended late checkout. I was told to come back in half an hour and they would know if there was anything available. Once I did come back, he said they “should be able to accommodate me” but the rate would be different.. come to find out it’s nearly, a $60 price hike… will notify friends, family, and coworkers of this and advise to book at their own discretion.

The rooms are a good size, the room amenities are good, and the facilities (meeting rooms, pool area, restaurant) are what I would expect from a Ramada hotel. Unfortunately, our room didn't appear to have been vacuumed or swept in quite some time. The mattress was concave and the shower curtain was so dirty that we opted not to shower. We ate breakfast in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised with the food quality and value for money so we would eat their again, but we would look for somewhere else to stay.

Very dissatisfied. Never had such horrible service in the restaurant. They let us wait over 20 minutes waiting to be seated when there were many tables available. We arrive over an hour before closing. The wait staff avoided eye contact and didn't say a single word. Eventually after the absurdity of not being spoken to or seated for over 20 minutes, I approached an employee and she said they only had two waitresses and they aren't able to serve us. so the entire time I was waiting and they were walking by us and avoiding eye contact, they knew they weren't going to seat us. I was very displeased and have never seen such horrible customer service. The smallest decency was to at least warn us because we were out and decided we would eat in and that left us without supper. There were other problems with unsupervised kids in areas they should have been supervised and how these young boys were loudly harassing me (a female) over twice their age and the parents weren't stopping them. Overall the hotel is fine. Restaurant was very displeasing and parents should not let their 10 year old boys scream and coo at females. I felt very uneasy and disturbed trying to enjoy my time in the hottub but the boys wouldn't stop running by and yelling dumb things at me and the parents were nearby and definitely could hear.

I would give zero stars if I could. Cleanliness was non existent. Place is outdated and disgusting. Toothpaste on the walls. Dust everywhere including on the bed frame and all on the fixtures in the room. Great if you’re going for a haunted house vibes. A few staff think they are mall cops on a power trip out to get Justice. Just overall a terrible experience. Stay away. The pool area seems enticing but it’s not worth the rest. I promise..
