Where to stay in Altenau

Very nice and friendly owners with a truly extensive breakfast buffet that caters to every need. Great value for money! Nice rooms and comfortable beds that provide a great night's sleep.

Room was good, mattresses were also OK, it was pleasantly quiet, service was very good, hosts were very nice and helpful. Breakfast is very good and plentiful, also good for bikers, we have our own garage for the bikes, we recommend going out to eat at Restaurant Hirsch, as breakfast is only available in Hotel Engel. But that wasn't a problem, the food is very good, the Altenauer Dunkel beer tastes...

Nice hotel in the center of Altenau. Run by two super nice and nice people. I just showed up spontaneously and got a room without any problems. The rooms are fine and adequately equipped for just staying overnight. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Everything seems a bit rustic and outdated, but it fits with the charm of the Harz and Altenau. Just have to like it. The breakfast...

The Weiß family fulfilled all of our wishes in advance. Then we had to cancel our stay at short notice due to illness. It was such a pleasure that we still didn't have to pay a cancellation fee - when in fact the entire amount would have been due. The room was well equipped and had access to the balcony. It was also great to get drinks from the fridge in the lounge for a fee. The division of the shower and the toilet is not successful. Shower is directly in the room and toilet in a small room. Anyone traveling with a dog must note that it costs extra, although this was not stated in the price to be paid. Perfect as a hiker for the Hexenstieg. Rooms are neat and clean. The breakfast is varied and plentiful. A little further down there is a pub with a good selection of beers.

My wife and I have visited twice in a very short space of time. The first time a long weekend and the second a week. We really enjoyed it. Right on the Hexenstieg and other hiking trails. Went like that. If you are really hungry, you will not be full. I was looking forward to home-style cooking, but unfortunately the brawn was a ready-made product and the fried potatoes saw the pan far too short and the portion was very clear. But the service was nice.

There were four of us including our dog for one night in February. Room was preheated, everything seemed very clean. The hygiene regulations are meticulously observed in the hotel. The breakfast is excellent, very varied and with a lot of love, really great! We'd love to come back.

We were traveling with a small motorbike group... This guesthouse impresses with its absolutely friendly hosts. Rooms are very clean... Even if a bit old... Nice hosts. You are treated like family here. There's still a lot to fix in the house, but they're working on it. And when the boss cooks, it's really worth it.

Nice little guesthouse. Great little clean rooms. Quietly located so that you can spend the night very well. The people are super friendly and try to help where they can. Breakfast is good too, you get what you need. Gladly again a contact point if it goes to the Harz again.

Die Sauberkeit und Ordnung ließ einen denken, dass das Appartement gerade erst für Besucher hergerichtet worden war. Und trotzdem strahlte es eine Gemütlichkeit aus, so dass man sich sofort angekommen und zu Hause fühlen konnte. Auch gilt es den freundlichen Service des Feriendienstleisters zu erwähnen. Die Ankunft nach 18 Uhr wurde einem unkompliziert ermöglicht.

Nice BnB in Altenau: nice room, nice bed and a delicious breakfast in a nice big living room. Great place as a base to discover the area, with ample parking and within walking distance of the pleasant village center. The owner is very welcoming and helpful and knows how to recommend the best restaurants in the area!!

Great and yet quiet location. We were there with motorbikes. The manager of the house immediately offered us a garage! Drinks were self-service with a "checkout of trust". Room was spacious, clean and functional. Breakfast was delicious. The price-performance ratio is right! Gladly again.

Absolutely nice place, not 5* hotel, but definitely place with a soul. Friendly and kind stuff, rooms with big shower inside (family rooms), always fresh and tasteful breakfast with snack-to-do option available. Absolutely to be recommended. We were there with a dog. Everything is very nicely furnished and the breakfast is delicious. It is a really family atmosphere, also thanks to the nice hosts. Perfect for dogs, as it borders directly on the forest and there is enough space to run out. Very nice 😍 we felt good and will be back !!

I can only recommend the hotel! Very friendly owners - who make everything possible and look for solutions for everything. Price-performance ratio is totally right. We had a great room, nice furnishings, with a balcony. We had a great time there, the operators of the guesthouse were super nice. We went there with my parents. Breakfast was good. We would stay there again.

We spent a very relaxing week in Pension Petra. The room was brand new and very comfortably furnished. From the balcony we had a very nice view of the valley. The hosts were very friendly and gave us good tips for hikes. The breakfast was always plentiful and there were fresh rolls.
