Ringhotel Goldener Knopf

Not a great experience.

I had 3 major issues with my stay:

1. I had to pay for a "suite" because all the other rooms were booked, which is fine (my fault for booking late), but when I arrived my room was COVERED in hundreds, maybe thousands, of small (dead) moth like bugs. It looked as if the room had been vacant for some time with the window open and a light on. They "re-cleaned" the room but I am still finding these bugs everywhere.

2. Then I went to take a shower and there was NO HOT WATER it was freezing cold. The sink had hot water but the shower doesn't. At this point I had been traveling for 30 hours and all I wanted to do was take a shower. The front desk sent a woman up who turned on the shower, verified it wasn't working then pointed to the bath tub (luckily there was a separate bath tub in the room) and walked out. They haven't even attempted to fix it or offer a different room. (I wonder how many people have complained about it before me with the same result?).

3. The WIFI just plain doesn't work. At all.

All I want as a business traveler are a clean room, a hot shower and usable WIFI. I dont feel like that is asking too much, but this hotel failed to check a single one of those boxes. I wasnt offered an explanation, an apology or even a free drink at the bar for these issues.

4. Not a major issue but the TV in the room didn't work.

Some other notes for potential travelers:

There is no air conditioning and even though it was beautiful outside it is extremely hot in the room and the common spaces even with the windows open.

My room (a suite) was actually quite large but the people in my group staying with me said the normal rooms are extremely small and they did not get the king/queen size beds they were promised when booking.

Breakfast was ok, it was convenient and included in the price of the room, but not worth the rest of the aggravation.

I will stay elsewhere next time.

I was on business in Bad Säckingen, the location of the hotel is Central so far so good, wifi is bad, unfriendly staff, Small and expensive room

wanted to yesterday (enjoy 14.7.2013) come to a dinner with a view on the Rhine. It was not, however, as we were snubbed by a young upstart literally!!! What you want, he growled at us, a kitchen is only 18.00! Then we wanted to make reservations on 18.00, he prevailed us to NAME? We then presented the menu again, and retreated from there! This newcomer has really taken the wrong line of work! No wonder that the terrace at 17.00 was empty despite the beautiful summer weather. All the other Restaurants around were by this time proppen full!!!
We will avoid this Restaurant, and of course the Hotel in the future and strongly "advertising" not because you have to treat it obviously needed the guests decent!

Looks nice. Rooms fairly basic but done to a good standard. Mini bar but not tea or coffee facilities in the room. Bar shuts at 10pm. Internet poor to unusable.
