Inselhotel Rote Erde

We had half board, breakfast was good with a variety of different buns, muesli, cheese and eggs (scrambled and hard boiled). Unfortunately the fruits were canned, not fresh, which is too sweet for me. Dinner was buffet style and wasn’t the best taste-wise, which is a result of cooking for the masses, but different dishes were offered everyday (no repetitions) and some dishes were good. The hotel in general was ok. There’s a bicycle rental on their premises daily which is very convenient. We had a smaller double room without a balcony. The bathroom is very small though. Cleaning of rooms was done only every 2 days (not daily) due to a shortage of personnel after the pandemic. Which I found reasonable since I don’t clean my house daily either. The service personnel at the reception and in the restaurant are friendly and helpful.

We felt very welcome. The hotel is centrally located to shopping and the beach/promenade is just a few footsteps away. The staff are friendly and fast. The room was clean and housekeeping was thorough everyday. Internet was stable and fast. The only things that were negative was the tiny-very very slow elevator close to the reception area (the elevator around the other side of the hotel is big and very fast!) and the room key card was always messing up. Everyone was changing cards almost daily. They are temperamental-sometimes it worked, sometimes not.
*** Update- one year later—
The cleanliness and service are still very good. The room key card is still very temperamental. We have the feeling that they are somehow saving money on the food however. There was a lot of food that tasted „frozen or fast food quality „. Our room was at the far end of floor 3 and the internet was much slower there.
