Hotel Strandvilla Janine in Borkum

We were back on the island for the first time in 26 years. The team at Strandvilla Janine made our holiday truly special. Our first impression was a very friendly welcome that made us feel right at home. Then came a very clean and comfortable room. What we particularly loved was the charm that permeated the entire house. Everything was very well thought out. The next day, we were amazed by the lovingly prepared breakfast. It was so plentiful that we couldn't possibly eat as much as we would have liked. The very friendly staff were always checking to make sure nothing was missing and that everything was tidy. It was fortunate that we were there for several days and could enjoy the daily changing breakfast. There were always new and delicious dishes, and something for everyone. We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Janine on Borkum and would like to share a detailed review that includes both our many positive impressions and a few suggestions for improvement.

First and foremost: The rooms are exceptionally clean – truly of a very high standard. The location is also excellent: The beach and promenade are less than 100 meters away. This is practically ideal for a relaxing island vacation and a major plus for the hotel.

We would rate the breakfast as adequate to good overall. There are various hot items such as scrambled eggs, omelets, bacon, and sausages, as well as a selection of cheese, cold cuts, quark, yogurt, tea, and coffee. However, there were only pre-baked rolls, which doesn't quite reflect the hotel's price point. It would also be desirable to offer more fresh fruit. Currently, there is mostly a pre-made fruit salad, which is the same every day. A small, rotating selection of fresh fruit would significantly enhance the breakfast.

The mattresses are relatively soft, which might not suit everyone. The automatic water dispenser on the tap is an environmentally friendly idea, but rather impractical to use and can become a bit annoying over time.

A big thank you to the staff: everyone was very friendly, attentive, and helpful – you truly feel welcome and well cared for as a guest.

One small suggestion for improvement: the rooms could benefit from more modern curtains. These would better complement the otherwise very well-maintained overall impression and enhance the room's appearance.

Overall, we had a lovely stay. The cleanliness, the perfect location, and the warm hospitality make the hotel very appealing. With a few minor improvements – especially at breakfast – it could easily be among the best accommodations on Borkum.

The Strandvilla Janine on Borkum not only serves as our accommodation, but as a hostel that more than lives up to its name. Where do we begin?
Welcome: We received a very friendly welcome, and important details about our accommodation were competently explained, and our questions were patiently answered.
By the way, we're staying here several times. That alone says a lot.
Hotel location: Perfect! Two minutes from the beach, in a prime location.
Room: Large enough, comfortable, very clean. And: the shower!!! A dream! What a great water jet. And lovely hot water. What a joy when we return from a hike, frozen to the bone.
Free, delicious Borkum water is available from the central tap in the dining room.
Breakfast: I don't know what they don't have. This way, you can start your day on the island feeling refreshed. Everything is fresh and plentiful. If you're missing something, just ask.
Service: The chambermaids swirl around like busy bees, creating a feel-good atmosphere.
The service and kitchen staff went above and beyond to make our vacation a success. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We felt very comfortable and this certainly won't be our last stay. Our next vacation is already booked.

Great value on Borkum. Close to beach and old lighthouse in town center. Check-out time was too early for us, but maybe 10am is normal here. Amazing breakfast

A great hotel, good hygiene concept and an excellent breakfast. Guest requests are also met whenever possible. Nevertheless, there was something to smile about on the last morning, we were asked 1 minute after our breakfast time to vacate the space for the next coming guests, that would be ok. if there hadn't been several tables free next to us ......... so we started the day smiling ........

I can only recommend the Hotel Strandvilla Janine. The location is perfect, the beach and shops are only a few minutes' walk away. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. The rooms are very well equipped and clean. We particularly recommend the breakfast buffet, which is lovingly stocked with everything your heart desires.
I will visit the hotel again.

Simply a great, lovingly run hotel. Great modern decor, mega comfortable bed, great bathroom with rain shower and the staff very, very attentive and friendly. The breakfast buffet is the best I've had in years! Fresh food arranged with a lot of love and appetizing! Highly recommended in every way!
