Best and fanciest hotel in Celle. Has an atmosphere of luxury, and very spoiling. Each star of the 5 was earned by justice.

Classy hotel in a small and culturally interesting city that I unfortunately did not have the time to visit this time making a short stop in Celle traveling from Copenhagen back to Switzerland. This is the kind of five star hotel that you only find in the German speaking world. They still have single rooms with a roomy bath room, shoe polishing service and a brush to remove the dust from your seldom used tuxedo. The only thing missing was a shoe horn, so useful for elderly men. The bed and pillows as well as the shower were excellent and breakfast worthy of the star rating. Highly recommended.

Nothing special.
Positives it clean and cosy.
Negatives. You can sit in the lobby an wait for hours before anyone offers to serve you a drink.
Not 5 star by any imagination. 3 star is realistic.

Staff exceptional , arranged Hire Bikes to be delivered to the Hotel for our full day out exploring the area ...which saved valauble time organising this ourselves
We have have booked an overnight stop again ..looking forward to the Re Visit ... Great Setting and one of the best breakfast I've had in Germany

I have stayed at the Althoff many times, but this time I was not impressed. The room was very small, despite the very fine name of the room, and it was located right next to the elevator, which resulted in an awful noice, throughout the night, everytime the elevator operated. The bed was only a queen size and not a king size as one would expect in a double room. So it's a combination of many things which resulted in only three stars this time.

Unfortunately we were unable to stay at this hotel because they were closed due to COVID, however we did have the pleasure of taking some of our wedding photos there while we were in town. My review is based purely on the hospitality of management staff for going out of their way and doing us a favor to allow us and take photo's in their hotel... coming to unlock the building for us personally. And based on the aesthetic of the hotel, it was absolutely gorgeous. Their meeting rooms and lobby are stunning. We were so impressed, we cannot wait to stay here as full guests once the hotel reopens.
