Beautiful old hotel, probably getting close to needing a refresh. Orangerie for breakfast is magnificent! Makes your stay extra special. Beware the “included breakfasts” - we checked twice and confirmed twice that our breakfast was included and still got charged for them at checkout. Not sure how communication broke down, but it did and it did end our stay on a mildly sour note.

Maritim Schloss Hotel Fulda feels like a cozy castle retreat: set amid lush gardens, it combines rustic timber beams and stone turrets with spacious, light‑filled rooms. This hotel deserves two stars only because of their staff (that is really amazing, all of them), and their excellent food. Both, dinner and breakfast we had there were excellent.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the hotel establishment and its facilities.
While I understand that this hotel was built sometime at the end of the 70's, and nobody is willing to invest into its modernization, there are simple hacks how to make the life of its guests better. Firstly, the garages. Whilst conveniently located underneath the hotel, there is no barrier free access available, meaning that if you want to unload your suitcase in the car, and take it directly to the hotel (why wouldn't you, the hotel has a direct elevator from the reception to the garage), you are about to come to the nasty surprise - the elevators are malfunctional. What is worse, nobody thought about putting that notice to the garage, which would spare you carrying your bags up the stairs to the elevator.
Secondly, the rooms. Where to begin? Firstly, the design is from some time in 1970, as I said, and that brings a few weird things with it. Like - you have your sink directly in the room - not in the bathroom, IN THE ROOM. There is no AC - at least, we haven't found any. Also - absolutely no sockets next to your bed where you could charge your phone. We had to take out the drawers, unplug the bedside lamp, and plug in the phones. This is honestly ridiculous concept in 2025 when we all are depending on our cellphones, and I frankly don't see a reason why the hotel can't provide some extension cables for every bedside table.
That's why 2 stars only. This hotel is in the beautiful location, and as said, has an amazing staff, and delish food, but the hotel itself is not much to look at.

A top-class hotel. Very, very friendly staff. The atmosphere is simply fantastic. You felt like a king in the breakfast room. The restaurant in the cellar vault was great. We'll be back.

It’s a nice hotel for a one-day stay, suitable for couples or families. From time to time, there are theater shows on the hotel’s stage. However, the venue is small, so it’s not ideal for grand events.
The restaurant in the cellar is very nice, offering good value for money with vegetarian options available. Breakfast is served in the orangery, which is the location shown in the pictures. The breakfast spread includes a wide variety of eggs, cheese, meat, fish, and vegetarian options.
The swimming pool and towels are provided free of charge.
The only issue I found unpleasant was that the hotel’s main picture featured the orangery rather than the actual hotel building. This felt misleading to me.
Also recommend to visit the castle

Property is not the nice beautiful castle it shows on pictures. Its a prison with pretty buildings around it. Parking is super tight. Watched a lady make a 30 point turn trying to park. Tv in room didnt work. The other room i had, didnt have a working refrigerator. No ice is avaliable anywhere.There is absolutely no a/c. Maintance also doesnt work the weekends. So if something is broken, well its broken. Otherwise staff was friendly. Fairly clean rooms. Very nice views.

Although a bit disappointed at first (the hotel is not as the photos suggest in a castle, but next to it, with an internal corridor to it) we had a pleasant stay.
Staff is very friendly and helpful, room a little small and outdated (who uses ISDN in 2024?). Breakfast was served in a big "ballroom" of the castle and was very good.
Also tried the pool, not that big but good for a short swim.
Close to the city although one night we had to walk a big detour as the main road was closed for a musical event.

Very Very friendly and profesional staff. All very good. Room very clean and not something i can complain about. A big thank you to front offfice for they were extremely helpful and proffesional in the needs of myself. I would also like to make a point of mentioning one collegue in particulaur Mr Bergen from Front Office who did everything he could do make us feel welcomed to the hotel. He was polite, helpful and caring to the needs of others. It wasn`t just me but in fact to the other guests. This type of profesional and effort is unfortunetly not always found in the hotels today. So it was great to see a hotel keeping all if it`s standards. You should definetly book here! I will be in future all the time along with my collegues. Many thanks!!!
