Where to stay in Schonwald im Schwarzwald

We were staying at hotel for a weekend. The staff and the room were way over expectations. Complete staff was very friendly, there was enough of parking spaces, spa and swiming pool was more or less free- it felt very private :). Thank you again for such a great experience.

Riom was clean, spacious and well équipes (wide screen with Android TV including Netfilx) Restaurant is grenat too, especially an impressive liste of wines from all over the World Breakfast is outstanding, with a large choice of marmelades, smoothies, cheeses, delicatessen, breads... And for those who have an electrical véhicule like us, there is a charging station at the hotel. Si why not 5 stars...

We loved our stay. It was cozy, welcoming, comfortable and refined. They tidy your room while at breakfast, have homemade cookies to offer with afternoon tea, and the restaurant was superb. The gym equipment was disappointing, however, we would love to come back.

We had a wonderful dinner in a beautiful ambience. The service was great, the food was excellent, well prepaired, refined German cuisine. Local products, good meat and fish. And we had 2 desserts because they were too tasty.

Located in a quit valley in the black forest. Has indoor swimming pool and sauna. Very good good. Rooms are ok. Slightly high prices.

Friendly staff was the best feature of this hotel. Beds were also very comfy. Food was good, but a bit expensive, especially on new year eve where we had to pay 25 eur extra per person for nothing special. Hopefully the extra charge went to give a bonus to the employee for working on new years eve because it didn't go towards better food.

For a very reasonably priced hotel, the facilities were excellent. It was nicely located within walking distance from the village center and there were a few food options nearby, as well as a restaurant within the hotel itself. The rooms were a little old, but they were kept very clean and everything was very comfortable. I was lucky to have a balcony with a view over the valley below, so to be honest...

It is a very peaceful and pleasant place. We enjoyed our stay with our children. Good value for money.

This is the most amazing place to stay in the Black Forest!!! The couple that runs it are pure joy. They are so kind, attentive, and generous. There is a kids play set out back. The gentleman removed a bee nest from the playground for my kids and saved the day! There is a mini bar in the room and free coffee available all day. They even took the time to make sure us Americans had still water.....

The location is ideal - you wake up the middle of the tranquil black forest. The staff (Beatrice especially) were friendly and had extremely high standards of customer service. The food was amazing (we had dinner when we arrived, which was divine!) and a wide choice for the continental breakfast.

Really nice place to stay. Lovely rooms with a nice table and chairs so you can play games or read comfortably. Comfy bed and quiet at night. Restaurant is nicely layer out with an excellent Italian and German menu.

We spent a wonderful week here. Relaxed and friendly, mien hosts looked after us extremely well. The restaurant had by far the best food we tried in the region. The stream overlooked from our balcony provided a most relaxing background sound. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Very highly recommended!

A very good hotel and restaurant. Rooms are clean and very nice decorated. There is a small welcome basket with fruit. They have very good wines and the food is fantastic. The fish is super fresh caught in the little river behind the hotel.

Great location for couples or families in the rolling hills away from noisy road traffic. Just a short drive to Triberg and and hour away from Freiberg. We loved the traditional German Breakfasts and Dinner menus. We did not leave hungry. Plenty of free parking available. The outdoor wading \ spa pool and indoor pool were wonderful. The place is quite cozy and the woman that attended me was patient and kind. The availability of the different dishes was not too extended, but I had for lunch the Frikadelle and the Wursdtsalad and they were delicious, as well as not so expensive. I recommend to stop by!

Wonderful location next to the lake overlooking a nice playground. So we could stay warmly indoor while our kids are play happily outside. Everything we ordered were super tasty and comes in very generous portion, also great wine and very lovely and friendly service. All 4 of us enjoyed it very much. Beautifully located right next to a lovely little pond/lake with nice seating and good staff. The food here was great, one of us having the flank steak and the other the rump, the flank steak was the definite favourite. The food was well seasoned, with good quality ingredients and reasonably priced ($$). Staff were friendly and it was an evening to be enjoyed sitting here with the view over the water

We stopped because this place has the highest rating for a restaurant open before 5PM and after normal lunch time. The staff was very friendly and immediately made us comfortable upon arriving. Nice restaurant with a good outside patio seating. Great place to stop by for a drink or some food after a hike in the Triberg waterfall hiking area. Lovely place to have some lunch, i sat at the garden/terrace area. Very good vibes. Food was decent, ordered fish for lunch that came with spinach, creamy sauce and boiled potatoes. Really enjoyed the meal and the service. Would definitely come here again.

The room has an amazing view! We sat there for so long just chilling and enjoying the view. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is great too!! Few mins walk to the waterfall. Includes free tix to the waterfall which is only a few mins walk away!

We found Hotel Ketterer to be a great place to stay. We arrived too early to check in, but the staff held our luggage and ensured we obtained our Guest card to facilitate our visit to the waterfalls and museum. It is a family owned restaurant since a long time. The pan fried fish with buttered potatoes was amazing. They do serve a lot of vegetarian food, we tried the vegetarian patty which was really good. Their black forest cake is the second best I have had in the last 9 years! One star reduced since the customer service could be better.

The hotel is not very well appointed and the cafe seemed very light and not very welcoming. The staff are very helpful though.

It was their weekend so we didn't get breakfast. I'd call ahead to reserve a room. They didn't really seem to like walk-ins. Besides those two thing, the price was good and the room was great. We aren't big European travelers but the shower was amazing.

It only gets 4 stars for the wonderful young people who served us. The Hotel is located in the central part of the town and has some beautiful features. It’s important to mention that the staff was so so lovely, very friendly and hardworking. As for management, we are not so sure. Beautiful place but needs a little bit more ‚love‘. Excellent old hotel located in a beautiful Black Forest town of Triberg. We got a wonderful large room with a larger bathroom including a jacuzzi bath in the main building. Awesome. The hotel has a great Wellness and Spa area, well designed and all in perfect operational order. Sauna land area is only allowed to be unclothed. Great pool, jacuzzi, many dry and wet saunas, resting area on water beds...

An excellent place to stay at in this small town. Cozy rooms, food at breakfasts is great, good location. Special thanks to the staff, extremely helpful! We needed some hot water late at night twice, they were very nice to get it for us. The only downside is that they don't have an elevator. Otherwise, this is a perfect place. Highly recommend!

Very nice place with large rooms and private guest parking. Enjoy the bar and restaurant at hotel or several other locations within walking distance to widen your selection. Spa and pool help relax the body after a walk to Germany's largest water fall(free to hotel guests) or a few hours of climbing in the trees on a recreational rope obstacle course 15 meters in the air.

Irene Schlender is what made this place wonderful. Her cooking was delicious. Her family was charming. We were going to come back but alas she is no longer working there so I will take one star away for that.

Nice hotel at the top of hill. It's great if you have a car as it is more than 20 minutes from MarketPlatz. The host lady is very nice and helpful. There is a nature trail which starts on the hill right in front of the hotel and takes you rut o the waterfall. It takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. You may face issue with mobile network (at least I can say for Lebara) in some rooms. Wifi isn't the best...

Outdated but clean rooms. We had a family room with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Everything was clean and for a very good price (therefore I don't mind the outdated furniture). I've seen just one person from the staff. We wanted to check out and she kept on the phone for more than 10 minutes while we were waiting. Not friendly! Otherwise I would have given 4 stars.

We had a large 2 bedroom for 4 people. It was comfy, but the furniture didn't match. We had an early train and the receptionist was trying to help us with a taxi but there aren't any available before 7am. The hotel is also on a high, steep hill unlike the other hotels so we had to carry all of our lugagge to the train station, which wasn't fun. Next time we will stay by the train station. This is a great hotel. It is wonderful if you have kids because of the large family rooms, indoor pool, and game room. The owners are very welcoming, and will ensure you have the best stay possible. The other great aspect is the hotel is close to Triberg center without paying the Triberg prices.

The views from this hotel are fantastic. We were here after it had snowed, and it was like we were in a Christmas postcard! The breakfast, which is included in your stay, is phenomenal. My only little complaint is that the blackout curtains are really more for decoration. They don't span all the way across the windows. They had all of the balconies decorated with lights, which was cute...from the outside...

Breakfast and dinner was generally great. We stayed 3 nights and had both dinners at the restaurant. The hotel has been renovated lately and accessories and furniture is in outstanding status. The room was very comfortable.

Lovely cozy guesthouse in a beautiful location. Very central for most other Black Forest attractions if you’re driving. The food at dinner was amazing, definitely make sure you reserve a table. Also they have a very friendly cat named Apfelstrudel that followed us as we hiked around the local area.

300 hundred years old family house turned in to small hotel with a lovely staff. It's location is far from main road so quite. If ur looking for good relaxing day close to the black Forrest this is a great option amd also the buffet for the breakfast great organic food and fresh

The hosts are so warm and welcoming. We had a fantastic dinner - the best of our trip. Great wine and food. The cakes are incredible! The room was lovely. Just renovated and very comfy and warm. I'd love to come back here!

5 star experience all the way. Location was exotic, surrounded by the forest and snow meadows in winter. Clean rooms with beautiful views. The service is special, they take care of you. Excellent breakfast and lovely pastries. Overall an unforgettable experience staying here for the budget pricing.
