Friendly Cityhotel Oktopus

large double room with comfortable sofa bed good for a family. walking distance to very authentic Chinese restaurant

In general the hotel is totally fine, but for the price I expected a bit more.
The pools are worth 5 stars, but I felt a bit uncomfortable in my room, because of the cold atmosphere and the uncomfortable bed.
Although the breakfast was high quality, lunch and dinner was not that tasty.
In case you don't care about the room's interior design and eat out, the pools are really worth a visit!

Proper and clean rooms. Dinner at the restaurant was not very good however. The fries were soggy and the medium steak I ordered was in fact well done. Another subject regarding german cuisine, is the major focus around meat, which is good because obviously, protein is good. However, it is often paired with carb loaded foods and the included restaurant did not innovate in this area. You're better off dining at the closeby Vietnamese restaurant if you're looking for a healthy dining experience.

The beds were seperable which is great and the bathrooms were clean. The gym was the worst I've seen in a hotel. For some reason they thought it was a good idea to only have cable machines and as any proper gym fanatic knows; freeweights offer the best training. There were no free weights so compound excersizes were not possible so I had to make due with a pull up bar. As the machines were way too easy and light.

The sauna was nice and decent, no complains here. For the outside pool which is clean and very decent, refrain from sliding down the long high slide as an adult, I had to walk to gain momentum mid-slide. Not safe when going off it with a minor on your lap. Me and my niece almost got a colission with some other kids because we couldn't gain momentum because the slide had too much traction.

Overall it was a nice experience. The owners of the vietnamese restaurant closeby were amazing and very friendly, such admirable people. The lobby had some horribly photoshopped visuals on the walls which was funny to me.

I enjoyed my stay however and I would recommend a friend.
