Stop bitching, will ya!?
This hotel is excellent. you do your homework and you won't have problems.
Yes, the hotel doesn't have an elevator. its not a new thing. you should have checked in advanced. They won't build one just for you.
And yes, the breakfast is different. its more of a coffee shop breakfast in which you choose from a menu with a variety of choices. you want a Bouffe? go someplace else.

I stayed there and it was excellent. Room is modern and nice and perfect for a single use. The location is awesome, just an alley in the heart of the city. went out directly to the christmas fare.

Breakfast was good to start the morning with a good note.
And mostly - Service level as high as you can expeect. Very friendly, very nice.
I promise to come back again next time i'm in Cologne

It wasn't pleasant. I was expecting something else when I booked it. First of all, no one told us that we could get a room in the upper floor (5th) and would have to climb all the stairs with suitcases. There is no elevator (the information is on booking). No one asks you if you can or not climb so many stairs. In this case, no one was disable but one person was pregnant and it was extremely hard to manage it. In the end she got a bit sick, what could have been avoided. The rooms are very small for the costs. There is any space inside to walk freely or to do something else apart from going to the toilet, have a shower or lay down on your bed. The rooms don't have air conditioning and the upper ones, only two small windows. On summer you can't manage the heat, but they dispose a fan. If you are sensible to noises consider not to take it. The rooms are very noisy/loud because of the bars outside on the same street. The mattresses are not comfortable. The positive aspects were the state of cleanliness and the fact that someone answer the contact through the chat on booking app and helped us cancelling the check-in so we could remake it and get another room. The answer was very fast. Anyway, the prices are not suitable.

On the night of 8–9 August, I found myself stranded at Cologne Central Station in the middle of the night, with nowhere to go. I spent considerable time walking from hotel to hotel around the station, asking in person for a room, but every place was either fully booked or closed. It was between 3 and 4am at night. Exhausted and desperate, I went online and booked what I believed to be a same-day check-in and check-out at Hotel Lint for the night of 9 August.

I did not realize that the booking platform had automatically set the dates to 9–10 August. As soon as I noticed, I canceled the booking within minutes — long before any service was used or any cost incurred by the hotel.

Despite this, Hotel Lint’s General Manager, Julian, chose to refund only €69.25 of the nearly €100 I paid, keeping more than €30 as a “processing fee.” In his written reply to me, Julian emphasized that they were under no obligation to refund anything, framed the partial refund as “saving me €80,” and mentioned their self-check-in system, which was irrelevant to my situation.

Technically, terms and conditions may allow such an outcome. But in the end, hospitality is about people, not just policies. I was in a vulnerable and urgent situation, and a small gesture of understanding would have cost the hotel nothing yet earned lifelong respect and loyalty. Instead, the decision prioritized short-term marginal gain over empathy, fairness, and the basic human decency that we should all extend to each other — especially in the hospitality business.

I share this so future travelers know what to expect, and so that perhaps Hotel Lint will reflect on whether rigid adherence to policy should outweigh compassion for a guest in genuine need.

Update on August 16, 2025: After posting my original review about being stranded at Cologne Central Station in the middle of the night and mistakenly booking the wrong dates, I received an email from Hotel Lint’s General Manager, Julian.

Instead of addressing the issue professionally, his message came across as a threat, stating he had seen my review and “assumed it would be removed promptly.”

He also claimed to have charged me a €20 “processing fee” for a booking canceled within a minute — but in reality withheld exactly €30. No service was ever provided, making this feel like financial abuse and cheating.

Worse, Expedia has effectively endorsed this conduct by refusing to take responsibility, leaving guests caught between rigid policies and unprofessional management.

This case shows how both Hotel Lint and its booking partner operate: prioritizing profit and silencing criticism instead of showing the empathy and care that true hospitality requires.

Overall a good stay. Very central, good breakfast, easy access to Koln HBF. It was exceptionally hot in Cologne during my stay and so the first couple of nights it was uncomfortably hot at night. Staff were able to fashion up a bit of a solution for a more comfortable sleep for my last two nights. Not really their fault though. Be prepared for climbing stairs to your room, not a place for less abled individuals.

Very uncomfortable stay
No lift and no air conditioning. Weather perhaps unseasonably hot. Room stifling and fan did nothing at all to help even with the window open, Hotel well positioned and central. Rooms nice apart from heat.

Liked the free beer, and amenities especially hair dyer and electric kettle. Automatic check-in system is little might be a hard part. We could always get help by phone though.

Fantastic hotel. Beautiful room, all recently refurbished. Excellent location. Spotlessly clean. Hotel reception staff were all wonderful - so helpful. Cleaning staff wonderful. Absolutely loved it. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cologne.

I loved the local area where the hotel is located. Great to get to all the sights within good walking distance. Would absolutely consider coming back again if in cologne

The bed sheets and pillowcases weren't clean, and I was charged more than the original price, but this was immediately corrected. The location was very close to the Cologne Philharmonic, making it convenient to return to the hotel even after a late-night performance.

Great location and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was NOT worth the price - I don’t know if there isn’t enough staff or enough food, but the offerings were quite meager by the standards of a hotel breakfast buffet and when items ran out they were not refilled. Part of the problem is that the staff was also serving customers for the cafe, and that was obviously their main focus - you’re better off skipping the hotel “breakfast” and just ordering from the cafe menu instead (and it will be cheaper).
