Novotel Koln City

The parking was not included in the booking price which wasn't mentioned during the booking. 19eur for a night is expensive. Also, the city tax was in fine prints, didn't realize until I arrive at the hotel. The breakfast supposed to be included but it wasn't. Hotel room didn't have iron and ironing table. There was no extra pillows also.

Nice room, spacious, clean and the hotel was quiet and well located.
Air conditioning was terrible, so sleeping was very uncomfortable.
Having the hairdryers in the bathroom is very odd, as you had to wait on one person drying their hair before the next person could shower.

clean rooms, good service, modern interior, but air con does not work at all and just blows warm air. The window opens partially and the sound proofing is terrible. All though we had 2 identical rooms reserved one had a modern nice bathroom and the other felt like a hospital with bars to hang on to and emergency strings to pull. The bathroom that was like a hospital also had no proper shower cover except a curtain which made it so the water would leak all over the bathroom causing problems. Unluckily I stayed during summer and the temperature is very hot especially with the disappointing air conditioner functionality. the wifi is also very hard to connect to on the 3rd floor and when I tried calling reception the phone kept ringing and no one picked up.

Friendly reception and clean room with modern decor, but I don't see how the rest of the hotel is 4 stars.

- Lacks basic amenities such as hair conditioner, body lotion, pen, coffee
- Atrocious cheap pillows
- Poor soundproofing between rooms--noises could be heard from the hall and the floor above
- Air conditioning is very weak / does not work
- There is only 1 small window which does not open fully (wouldn't be a big deal if the A/C was working properly)
- The bathroom has no ventilation
- The faucet sits inexplicably close the sink, making it difficult to wash your hands or fill up a water bottle
- The shower only has a removable head (no overhead shower head) and the water pressure and temperature are finicky / broken

Overall, these deficiencies are not what I expected from a "4-star" hotel.
