Good management .. everyday fresh fruits waiting for you in room . Clean . But don't change towel daily , you need to reuse the towel as much you can . it's just to stop overuse of detergents to protect the environments.

Some old stylish typical German Hotel, clean rooms, slightly old fashioned. Needs refurbishing but price is good.

Very nice welcome. And not just in German but in English so non German speakers would find it easy as well. Rooms are cozy. Bathrooms need shower curtains and may be a provision of a fan (but again this summer could be an exception), these two things can be considered for little improvement. Breakfast is good but still think a vegetarian or vegan people have less options as everywhere else.

A family owned hotel a few minutes walk from Wernigerode Railway Station. It is regularly visited by people who want to travel on the Hartz steam trains (HSB) and want to be able to walk into town to eat in the many restaurants in the evening. Wernigerode is easy to get to from the UK either by flying to Hannover or Berlin Tegel airports and then travelling by train with one or two changes along...

A restaurant review: Classic German food. A bit uninspired and just medium quality. The service was very good. The restaurant has a good view on the historic steam train. The train theme is picked it in the restaurant where a model train delivers the drinks.

If you are visiting for trains the station is just opposite. Lovely rooms and superb food

a great hotel only down side is noise of local fire station but has good restaurant and is less than 10 mins walk from hsb and local station and 8-10 min walk from town centre and I good room viewing the hsb railway I will be back soon thank you to all at hotel altora mr earl

Great place to stay. Rooms always clean. Plenty of room. Staff great. Brilliant breakfast.

The dining experience is excellent. The little train that brings drinks and dessert is such a quirky feature you'll not be able to take you're eyes off it.

If you're a railfan this is THE place to stay when you visit the HSB. The engine terminal is right across the street. The place is decorated with train pictures and memorabilia. The food in the restaurant is EXCELLENT! Very yummy and the dishes have railroady names. And the staff are very friendly and helpful!

A small but very cozy hotel. The room was clean and big enough for two people. The location in the city center is also an advantage. However, there is no parking lot near the hotel, the car can be parked in public parking lots (about 300m away) for a parking fee. Well, it's difficult with the luggage. I still give 5 stars.

Simple hotel right in the center with a few lovely touches such as flowers and fruit in the room. You can make tea and coffee in the hallway. There is no breakfast in the house itself. You can have a good breakfast at the bakery next door. The location means that even the hotel smells of baked goods.

Super nice hotel in the center. Very warm and friendly welcome. Beautiful, large, tidy and well equipped rooms. Very comfortable beds with different pillows. Very extensive breakfast buffet with all kinds of specialties (deer salami, wild boar sausage,...) in the sister hotel. I would book again at any time.

Excellent food and service and extremely enjoyable atmosphere and staff! My tip is Carpaccio octopus and homemade Tiramisu. By the way, as a starter, have a Hasseröder beer!

A pleasant stay in a pleasant hotel. A nice time in general. I would likely pick this hotel again if I stayed in Wernigerode. I was worried about being disturbed at night but was not. Out of the local restaurants, a Greek one was best. The Brocken train ride is the headline attraction. It is very pricey, but worth it. Recommend a good walk from Schierke to where the Berlin Wall was.

This was our second time at this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The owner took time for us and made a recommendation for specially offered dishes. We take advantage of this offer and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious again. So always with pleasure.

FRIENDLINESS is very important here. I came with my 80 year old mother. She needs oxygen. Delivering the oxygen was not a problem. The room was great. Breakfast delicious. We ate there on 2 evenings. Delicious. Boss and boss were very caring towards my mother. Thank you for everything! All in all very recommendable. Tiny drop of bitterness ..... the parking fee charged for the use of the hotel's own...

Great small hotel. New and modern, but very old-school German. Very very clean. Breakfast is absolutely wonderful and very affordable. I’d highly recommend. The only drawback is that it’s not directly in the old city. However, it’s great for traveling and seeing the neighboring cities and the area. Only about a 30 minute walk to town

The reception and rooms are on 2nd floor and there is no elevator or escalator so had to bring all luggages up a very small stairs. There is also no air conditioner in the room and we couldn’t open the window as the mosquitoes were coming in the room. It’s also not safe to keep the windows open all night as it’s so easy for someone to climb into the room through the windows. The good things are the...

A host who cares about the guests. On the 24th and 25th of December he cooked very tasty for his guests, unscheduled. Very nice staff, quiet area, parking lot, no luxury but well managed, loving care. We would love to come back.

Idyllic location, with simple rooms ... but quite cozy. The extra entrance to the annex is an advantage for me, which is very practical as a dog owner. You shouldn't expect luxury, but nice people, relaxing time and lots of beautiful nature. The walk to the pedestrian zone is not too far, but not well-lit in the dark. Breakfast is great. In conclusion: Recommended ... we would book here again

The location was perfect and well within walking distance of the town. The room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful view of the castle from my window. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and filled you up for the day

This hotel was clean and quiet and also provided good breakfast. We mostly appreciated them taking extra time to fulfill our dietary requirements.

Good breakfast, and fine bedroom and bath. The streets on three sides of the building are however quite noisy.

Great location. Easy walking distance to Town center. Breakfast not included..9€ but well worth every penny. Hosts very helpful.. Do not speak English though if you do not speak German. Very clean. Have a free Sauna if you are interested... Beds comfy. Pets allowed, if you wish. Worth the stay!

Friendly reception even though we turned up without a reservation and the staff were busy with a wedding at the time. We had a choice of campsite and plenty of space (end August) and were able to wash and dry our laundry (€8 a bit much when compared with other campsites). The washrooms were a bit limited, with cooking, washing up, laundry, and chemical loo emptying all in the area of the women's toilets

Excellent location. Beautiful clean rooms. The 5 day package was value for money. Breakfast was abundant & hearty. Plenty of fruits and a variety of breads & cereals were provided. Front desk staff were immensely friendly and helpful. Would love to go back again!

Great location, but the spa area was not up to par. The steam bath was out of order and the whirlpool was cold.

Clean rooms, nice aircondition, located centrally, great breakfast with something for everyone. The dinner at the restaurant is also good, but more suited for autumn

Excellent food nice Weizen beer. Beds comfortable and spotlessly clean. Parking was included in our rate. Cannot fault the location exactly part of the Market Square.

A wonderful hotel in the middle of Wernigerode. Every staff member we met made us feel welcome in spite of the anonymity of the masks we were all wearing. The wellness area was open, but due to Corona only the saunas were available, and limited to a maximum number of visitors. Nonetheless a wonderful area! A breakfast buffet was of course not possible, but the hotel still provided everything you could...

Excellent hotel. Location was perfect! On the Marktplatz and next to the rathaus. Staff was very friendly. Room was nice; clean, updated, and a good size. Breakfast was fantastic. And the sauna was wonderful. Highly recommend.
