ibis Oviedo in Oviedo

I would give this 0 stars if I could. I have stayed in many hostels nicer than this place and if that is a cheaper option for you in Oviedo, go ahead and save your money. I understand this is a budget hotel but I would have preferred to pay €20-30 more and stay somewhere nicer and closer to Oviedo center than stay here again. First of all this place is in a sketchy industrial park about 25-30 minute walk from the center of Oviedo. I did not feel safe walking in this neighborhood alone. And they clearly do not take care of the facilities— I came into my room and there were stains on the sheets, pillows, couch, and mold in the shower. The bed was very uncomfortable. They had on a sign advertised in the front that they had “early breakfast” starting at 4 am and when I asked about it to the front desk staff, they shrugged me off. I had a 6 am train to Madrid and so I tried to get breakfast before I left, but there was one lady who just gave me very bad coffee and there was no food available at that time. I wish I saved the €89 I spent here and stayed ANYWHERE else. I highly do not recommend.

We stayed here and had two rooms for 4 nights. Check-in was ok. The people who work here are all very nice and helpful. My issues with the stay were more with the quality of the rooms and cleaning. My bathroom smelled like urine, and it never went away. My daughter's bathroom also smelled like very strong urine. Not sure if it is a piping problem, but it made me feel a bit nauseated every time I stepped in the bathroom. It's just really gross. I don't think a pregnant woman could take it. I also felt like maybe it was in the tiles, which made me paranoid about walking in the bathroom with bare feet. Also one day I put the "please clean the room " tag on and the cleaner started to come in and saw that i was in the room, and took off. She also switched the tag to say privacy. I left right away and I know she saw me leave. However, I was gone for 7 hours and when I returned I discovered that the tag had been switched around for privacy by the cleaner and the room had not been cleaned. I was annoyed about this because I was hoping cleaning up the bathroom might help the smell, but that didn't happen. The room itself, if it didnt smell, is just ok..the size is big, the bed is ok, but things are peeling. My air-conditioning control was broken so I had no idea what temp was being set in the room. I just had to spin and guess.

Breakfast was good, except the coffee is weak and weird tasting. But the food was good and as I said the staff is friendly and helpful in the restaurant. Maybe the Ibis budget portion of this hotel would be better, counter intuitively. I would have given it a much better review if not for the gross, pervasive, and overpowering urine smell in the bathroom.

Poor quality rooms, worse than all other ibis I've been to. Only good thing about this hotel is the location.
