BLUESEA Gran Cervantes in Torremolinos

Blue Sea Cervantes has some serious work to do to maintain it’s ‘rating’ as a four star hotel. But let’s start with the positives: The staff there is pleasant and works hard. After the first night, it felt like one was sleeping in a valley, the mattress was so tired. After speaking to the front desk, housekeeping and maintenance were sent to the room and changed out the mattress right way. Additionally there were issues with the tub drain backing up and this was taken care of in a timely manner.
The hotel itself if ‘fine’. The rooms are dated but comfortable; the breakfast is good, with a large variety of dishes laid out cafeteria style; and the public areas are sprawling.
BUT if you are craving a good night’s sleep, this hotel is NOT recommended. We were there over a two week period and probably had 4 or 5 peaceful nights of sleep. Contrary to the advertising, the sound separation between rooms is not good. We had no problem hearing discussions in the adjacent rooms going on into the wee hours of the night. Additionally this hotel caters to large groups of youths and management hasn’t seemed to have learned to put them on separate floors for other guests. The result is drunken shouting and doors slamming in the hallways at all hours.
A side note is also the smoking. While the rooms themselves are non-smoking, the room balconies are not, so it makes it difficult to leave your door to the balcony open without having wafts of cigarette smoke entering your room.
