Hotel De Bourbon Grand Hotel Mercure Bourges

Stayed here a few times. It’s a good hotel to be fair, decent selection for breakfast, nice patio area. The bar is pretty decent as well. The only complaint I have is, the rooms I have stayed in have always been too warm, and the aircon didn’t blow cold. for me the best thing about the hotel is the restaurant room/building, it’s fabulous.

Lovely hotel with character. Well located for the city. Parking tight. Helpful and friendly staff. Very loud but poor band playing in the grounds on the one night we stayed.

Probably the best Mercure and restaurant combination we have stayed at. Professional, welcoming staff, room, clean and stylish to Mercure brand. Usual extensive breakfast set in the restaurant. Excellent restaurant for evening meals. Lovely garden to the rear of the hotel. Conveniently located a short walk from the SNCF Gare and on site car parking. A lovely municipal part across the road. Tye Marais river walk within a short walk. The half timber town centre is another short walk after arrival at the hotel. All in all we had a great visit.

I recently stayed at Hôtel de bourbon and had an outstanding experience. From the money I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and my room was ready ahead of schedule.

Great hotel with lots of character as was originally an abbey. Nice rooms. City centre location. Enough parking on site. Beware restaurant on site is independent so you need to book it well in advance or go elsewhere to eat dinner. Hotel does have good bar though.

The hotel is charming and the staff very friendly and knowledgeable.
The restaurant is very unique and also highly recommended. Service very smooth and professional.
Both the hotel and the partner restaurant are a perfect match and the right price point.
The only comment would be that on the website, whilst it indicates the restaurant being a 'partner restaurant', it would be advantageous if the website recommends to all guest to make prior reservation as otherwise you run the real risk of not being able to eat in the restaurant.
The other anomaly is that there are coffee/tea making facilities in the room, including cups/saucers, sugar etc but milk - guest will have to drink their tea/coffee without milk?
This seems to be 'a new thing' from Accor as we experienced the same 'without milk' situation in other Novotels, Ibis's and Mercures lately - a rather strange and 'cheap' way for Accor to cut services. It really does not wash to say to your guests 'don't worry you can get milk at the bar' or ' we will bring milk to your room. Accor also is very much skimming on bathroom amenities, we poor guests are now down to an all in 1 (!) bottle of shampoo/body wash etc per room. As expected the actual room rates of these hotels don't come down equivalent to the reduction in services!
I would hope the management of the hotel leads these comments to the appropriate people at Accor HQ.

Breakfast and dinner was fine but not exceptional
Best part are their ROMANEE CONTI prices …. But then food should have higher standards

Decoration of the restaurant particularly the lighting could be improved
Room was small and Mercure style (those prefabricated showers, feels cheap)

This was by far the best Mecure hotel I have stayed at. It is in a beautiful historic building & has been renovated superbly. The decor is modern but works so well. The room was a great size & beautifully furnished with very comfortable bed. The staff were excellent from check in to check out. Definitely recommend a night or 2 at Hotel de Bourbon.

This is my hotel of choice whenever I come to Bourges. The hotel is beautifully managed and I am always made to feel welcome by the staff. A lovely resturant with high quality food. An overall great place to stay.
