Akrotiri

When arriving at the airport of Aktion we received an email that our reservation was cancelled. Cancelled on the day we arrived!! I called the hotel to see what happened and they told me that it was cancelled due to an invalid card. (This is absurd as they had already confirmed me in May that everything was fine with my card and reservation). After several calls they found us an alternative to stay 1 night in another hotel (Grand Nefeli) as our reserved room was not available. We got a room in a horrible situation. It was dirty and full of hair on the bed. The shower was right next to the toilet with no separation. Taking a shower was impossible as it would lead to a flooding! The hairdryer did not work. The next day we went to Akrotiri hotel and asked to talk to the manager. At first he did not want to talk to us as he was ‘too busy’. After some hesitation he came to talk to us. He was very rude and didn’t listen to us. He didn’t want to discuss about it and just told us that there was a problem in the system of the reservation. No apology and a weak response. He told us to either take the room we had booked at Akrotiri or just leave and go somewhere else. Anyone travelling to Greece in August would know that finding something else so last minute is impossible. We asked for a compensation for what we went through but he didn’t want to give us anything. We were treated without any respect and unprofessionally. He said he gave us the standard room instead of the small room which we had booked. This is because there was no other room available! We went to the room and it was as the photos on the website. Clean, modern and with daily cleaning. In conclusion the room was good but the last minute cancellation and the attitude we received from the manager were awful and disappointing.
