Arbatax Park Resort - Dune

Do not go! It’s been the most disappointing trip we have been on!! .
We took a ferry and drove 3 hours to Arbatax very excited to arrive at the resort to find right when we arrived that it didn’t look very well maintained. We parked our car and they drove us to reception (not easy to access unless you have a driver) in the reception they barely spoke English but we’re very nice at first.
After our check in and paying over 1000€ plus a 20€ deposit for 2 beach towels they drove us to the room - room was ok NOT 4 start hotel though.
Going for food was so confusing we didn’t have “access” to most restaurants and we basically ate at the buffet every day which was average food, cold and not enough.

The beaches were beautiful but they don’t have enough umbrellas for that many people staying there, if you don’t eat at a restaurant during lunch time you are screwed the bars at the beach ran out of food everyday and they don’t tell you until you’ve been waiting for almost an hour, very expensive too! On our second day we tried going to another beach in the park and it was so far away no where to get a bottle of water and we had to return to the main beaches - we felt like prisoners in the resort getting around was so hard!

The worst for me was the bed!!! I am 7 months pregnant and this was holiday trip to relax before baby comes and there was no relaxing here, the bed was so old I could feel the springs on my ribs was terrible! We asked reception to change our bed for 3 days in a row and when they finally did they just put an extra thin mat over it, it was very bad so we decided to leave 3 days early to a different hotel.

They tried offering us a different room but we were really over it by then, they ignored us for 3 days and were not helpful at all, no good service, not good food and very expensive.

It’s a shame the place has potential to be amazing but it’s managed very poorly.

Beautiful place, rubbish service. Staff unhelpful (except for Dune hotel manager she was good). I asked for a kettle and they requested a 20 euro deposit in cash! Room doesn’t have slippers or dental kit, the room actually had ants. The AC is disastrous. The parking is really far away from the rooms. Wouldn’t go back there even if offered a room for free. The views and beaches are beautiful, such a waste.

We arrive at the gate of the complex. Everything outside was closed but there were people inside and there there was the reception and a lot of people waiting for longer than half an hour to get a room and being brought to the room because you can't drive there and they have to bring you. The receptionist was overwhelmed, there's only one car bringing people to the hotels. For a 4 star supposed to be placed, they seem to be saving money everywhere. Then they bring us to the reception on the hotel, where we need to get the things car from the out again and wait another hour until another car picks us up and again out the luggage in the car. Other people trying to cancel the booking and going to other hotels. Ridiculous organisation. 2 hours lost for the checking. Then the last car picked us up and we were 15 minutes driving around because the driver couldn't find the room. It takes 5 minutes walking from the reception to the room. He was driving careless and we were in the electric car with a baby and a small kid. Then they told us the Restaurants we were allowed to go to because it's separated by price and they gave us the wrong information. Rooms in the Tellis resort are rather 3 stars, very small for a family, bathroom was almost bigger than the room. AC didn't work. Some old furniture. Very close to the spectacles anfitheater that has a show everybody from 21:30 to 23:00, so it was very noisy until then. There is a free bus that drives around the resort every half an hour but they do a break around 14:00 and there is no mention to this in the PDF that they give you. So, we were waiting 30 minutes and nothing came.

Other than that, it's a bit difficult to walk around with a baby trolley because it's not adapted and it's full of stairs everywhere. Besides that swimming pool, food are typical buffet 4 stars category, good as expected. The beaches and sea views are amazing.

To sum up. Very nice area but a disaster management.

The hotel looks old. It's located quite far from the main touristic places. At this point I still don't understand how it is world's leading eco resort: lots of plastic packaging and single use products (shampoo and shower gel to start with) Way too many cars (electric or not) within the hotel.
Many families with kids and babies but no pool with water games.
We had the all-inclusive package: access to 2 restaurants with average buffet with barely any desert (fruits and chocolate cake).

The positive: the pasta at the buffet is still very good. The hotel has access to nice private small beaches and is 15-20 min away from public beaches that are really pretty. The walk for a nice panoramic view and the farm
