Salento Palace Bed & Breakfast in Gallipoli

I found the young staff here to be unhelpful, and of unusually low intellect. Arriving on a bicycle and in full bike kit, the young girl on reception was in the process of checking me in, on the premise in her mind that I was going to leave my full carbon bike on the street. It was only that I probed some question this transpired. She was neither going to allow the bicycle in the room, nor provide anywhere secure within the hotel for it to go. It was fortunate payment hadn’t yet been made before the silliness was worked out, as the conversation would have became particularly terse.

Given the number of touring cyclist in this area it is an unusual policy for the hotel to have, so be warned. All the other hotels in the area I used were fine, and tended to have multiple other touring cyclists.
