The review is for the restaurant.
My partner and I made a considerable financial effort to dine here and it is was an unforgettable experience. The location and the view are amazing, we booked dinner for 8 pm and it was already dark, I would have preferred to go a little earlier because we couldn’t really see the sea in the dark. Being able to go when it’s still light and stay until it gets dark would be perfect. Anyway, the atmosphere was great: live jazz music, delicious food, intimate and unique vibe. However, the service is not worth the price. When we arrived nobody was at the reception, we didn’t know whether we should wait or sit somewhere and the table cloth had a stain which is uncomfortable for the price they charge.
I don’t regret going though and I feel lucky I got to see this place.

We didn't stay in the hotel so this review is just for the restaurant. We had some reservations about this place because of some of the reviews. However, my wife and I decided we would give it a try anyway. Where else in the world can you have dinner in a sea cave! It probably goes without saying that the atmosphere was absolutely magical. Some of the reviews we read made it sound as though the food wasn't great but I have to say we both felt their Abraccio menu was top notch. Live music was a nice added touch. Service was okay, but not the best we've had. At a different price point them forgetting to bring a beverage for my wife would have been forgivable but not for what they're charging. They did get to it with a couple of asks though. Even so, it was a minor hiccup in what was otherwise a magical evening. We have no regrets.

This is one of the most epic restaurants in the world for its setting. Incredible view. In a cave in a cliff on the ocean. Spectacular. One of the most instagramable places I’ve ever seen.
The food was good too. I had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Service was patchy. The staff were friendly but they are a bit understaffed.
The three star review comes from the price. At nearly €500 Euro a person this is one of the most expensive meals I’ve ever had. And it’s not Michelin level food. You are paying for decent food and an incredible view and setting.
If the price was half of what it was I’d give it 5 stars. But it’s not.

Grotta Palazzese is truly iconic — dining inside a natural cave perched above the Adriatic is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The view is absolutely breathtaking and without a doubt the star of the show. It’s not every day you get to enjoy a meal in such a spectacular setting.
The food is good, and the overall experience is memorable. However, the service falls short of the high-end fine dining standards they aim to project, especially considering the very steep prices. The restaurant aspires to deliver a sophisticated tasting menu with wine pairings, but unfortunately, the staff lacks the training and finesse required to match that ambition. There are many places in Italy that offer better food at a fraction of the cost.
That said, no regrets — it’s one of those experiences you simply have to try once in your life. Just go for the view and the moment, and you won’t be disappointed.

Wow, what an amazing experience! We knew the view would be special from the photos online but they really don’t do it justice. Sitting in an open cave setting with the sea in front was truly picturesque. The ambience gets a perfect 10. They had live music playing which also added to the experience. We were worried after reading some reviews if we would be paying for the beautiful scenic setting and settling for subpar food, but we enjoyed every bite. The food was presented very artistically and it tasted as delicious as it looked. We both enjoyed the Abbraccio tasting (with wine pairing) and we loved every course. And lastly, the team serving us were also very friendly and engaging. Amazing place to celebrate a special occasion. And they have their own free parking lot which they shuttle you to and from the restaurant. This was so convenient . We went early and enjoyed walking through the town before enjoying an amazing dinner. It was ama 10 out of 10 experience for us

Only go if you really want to go, and only go for the cave setting, not for the food.
We really contemplated whether to go or not, as on one hand I wanted to see the fuss since this restaurant is often mentioned as one of the most beautiful/romantic restaurants in the world, but also when we checked the reviews we saw so so many horrible reviews, we felt angry just by reading them!
But in the end, we decided to give it a try, but also being prepared to be disappointed.
The verdict, is as my first line - Only go if you really want to go, and only go for the cave setting, not for the food.
Yes, it is really beautiful, and very romantic. The fact that they ask all guests to come dressed adds to the ambiance. So this is not deniable, it is indeed beautiful and romantic.
Service - We didn't experience any bad service. But it's not to say it was any outstanding performance either, which you might expect from paying this much, and them priding themselves as a 5 star restaurant.. No, it was just a normal service you'd get anywhere, nothing bad but nothing special.
Food - Not good. Some really bad. Like my pasta and appetizer was fine, as in good but nothing spectacular either, you can get better stuff at 10% of the price at other local restaurants. But then there were dishes that were really bad! Beef steak was so badly done, my partner didn't want to eat it. It's just not matching the price we are paying. The price EUR 190/person for 3 course is, indeed expensive, but not super super crazy if I think about 5 star restaurants in general, and we would have been ok with that price if the food was great. However, in this restaurant's case, the quality is just no there!! You get such mediocre to really very bad food for this price.
This restaurants really need to sort out the food quality... It's south Italy, where food is so good in general, how difficult is it to be this bad?! I don't understand!!

Worst customer service ever.
We booked a table for my girlfriend’s birthday and paid a 150€ fee online. Just one hour before the reservation, the restaurant sent us an email to tell us they canceled our reservation and that we would be refunded. We were in the car and we drove one hour to go to the restaurant so we did not see the email.
When we arrived, the manager explained us it wasn’t her fault, that it was only an « IT problem », and that she wouldn’t put an extra table for us. She did not even apologize.

We had our reservations for 6, way before the Italian dinner crowd, plus, not on the weekend, so we were the only 2 for the first half hour. Food was good, nothing great, but pretty creative. Small portions, but surprisingly filling. You're definitely paying for the atmosphere/experience. Service was professional, not personal. The Servers were there to do a job, serve and that's it. For the price, food and service should be elevated slightly.

Grotta Palazzese is simply a wonderful place.
Food was delicious. The place itself so special and the people working there so nice! Live saxophone played by my dear friend Giovanni was exceptionally good and created the perfect atmosphere. We spent an unforgettable night 🌙

Awesome! So happy with my stay! Booked this resort for a excellent price at ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ I like this hotel and I'm really happy I stayed at my favorite hotel for much less than what I usually pay.
The restaurant has an amazing view and very good food. Be sure to take lots of pictures to share with your friends! The staff was happy to take pictures for us.
