Hotel Garni Pegra

I stayed at this hotel on 5/10/24, at the end of the season, on my bikepacking trip of 710 miles through Italian Alps having stayed in 16 previous locations. This was by far my worst experience not only on this trip but worst hotel experience I have ever had and would strongly recommend everyone to avoid this hotel. The customer service from the ? manager, a man with blond hair, was so bad he deserves this poor review. I rang and reserved a double room 4 days before with the request I would like a double bed. I was checked in by a young mother who was juggling her 6 month old baby with checking-in guests and was asked for payment up front. Unusual I thought because normally one pays on check-out. To my horror when I went to my room I was given a twin-bedded room with two single beds in. I am 193cm tall and 110kg and did not want a single bed. The manager with blond hair, let’s call him Basil from Faulty Towers, refused to grant my request to change to a room with a double bed and in a rude and dismissive manner he proceeded to tell me that when in Italy you ask for a double room, it means a twin-bedded with single beds. What rubbish!. Subsequent hoteliers I have asked also disagreed. 'Read the email reservation' Basil said. But I could not because I never received one in the first place because he wrote it incorrectly despite me repeating it several times. There was no heating in the rooms and the shower was a small box cubicle shower with plastic doors. This is supposed to be a 4* hotel. I had just descended the Passo Tonale and was very cold, almost shivering at check-in. The radiators in the rooms were switched off and the max temp the thermostat would allow is 18.5 C. I stayed in the room for one hour and still was very cold. The only way to get warm I concluded was to stand under a hot shower for 20 minutes! I went to check-out and wanted to discuss the issue with him but he accepted a personal call on his mobile whilst I waited patiently at the front desk wanting his attention, he continued and ignored me. I left after 5 minutes without discussion. This is categorised as a 4* hotel. What a joke. The service was worse than a 1*. Take my advice avoid this hotel and save yourself the very bad experience I had.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff are rude, the breakfasts are poor. Besides the lack of a good selection of food, I went into the dining room in the evening to get a glass and saw that the food prepared for breakfast was left out on shelves without refrigeration. This is a high risk of poisoning! The staff charge you for damages you didn't cause. It's a pity I read the reviews too late; previous guests have written similar reviews many times. It's the worst place for relaxation. I do not recommend it!

DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE.

Guests were actively smoking *redacted due google policy* (forbidden drug in Italy). The reception staff ignored it. The elevator, corridor and our room had a very strong *redacted* smell.

Despite having other rooms available, we were denied another room. We decided not to stay in a hotel like this, especially since we were traveling with a young child.

Police intervention was necessary to receive back our identity cards.

The hotel charged us TWICE the price of the room on the credit card, which is under active fraud investigation now.

The only good thing about the hotel is its location.
Staff very unfriendly, the included breakfast is lacks food options and are badly made.
When we made reservation on booking it was pricy, but it showed us it is a 4 star hotel, so we booked it, then hen we arrived we saw that is a 3 star hotel, it is a total scam!

Average hotel close to the slopes, but a bit overpriced since you just have breakfast included. Be aware not to book the spa, it's 20€ extra each and it's basically a super tiny sauna and a small "jacuzzi", both outside so not enjoyable at all, especially in the late afternoon. The jacuzzi was not working properly either: the water was really cold and the reception kept telling us everything was fine without even bothering to get outside and touch the water. We asked for a discount on the spa price since we couldn't use it but they didn't even try to accommodate us. Not really a nice service. There are certainly other hotels in the area.

i was looking for a place to snowboard in may. before booking i asked the hotel if the glacier presena would be opened, and they answered it should be opened till june. in this meanwhile the company of the ski resort anounced they would close in may before the dates i have booked. i asked the hotel understanding to allow an exceptional refund in my situation and they lied they couldnt do that because of the website i used that wouldnt permit it. then i found the option of asking for the refund on this website, and the answer of the hotel was no. so, they misleaded me with a wrong information, they lied avoiding the responsibility by saying it was others limitation and refused to refund me. a bad behavior for a hones business company.
