Life Hotel Seaview & Spa

The worst room i have ever had, a sort of garage with no windows, at 140 euros per night in september. They have no idea how to manage an hotel. Nice position, basic breakfast. Not a four star hotel!

Our family room/disabled room was located on the bottom floor. I thought we would have some sort of sea view, but in any case, the room was terrible. Faded out windows, dark and claustrophobic. We couldn’t open windows as it opened onto the cafe seating area, where other guests had direct view into the room. We had problem with air conditioning twice and there was no manual to help rectify it, other than consult reception and we were told to not open windows as it will turn off the AC. The furniture was to a low standard and the room generally needs some care. We were not impressed by one particular member at reception. I stood there for some time waiting until she finished typing. She looked at me and continued typing. I then had to ask her if she could assist me. She had a very unpleasant manner and while she was dealing with me she then dealt with another guest! The nicest people were the breakfast staff and bar staff who were very helpful. I don’t believe the rate that we paid overall was worth the room and experience. It was unfortunate as we were so looking forward to staying.

Can you see why this hotel has bad reviews. They have horrible customer service.
My husband and I were going to be in the area. We live in northern Italy. My husband is going for a work trip and invited me to come along. We also have two cats that travel with us. We usually book an airbnb,  but I didn't like what was offered in the area. So we looked at hotels.
From the start, the delay in reply with this hotel about my inquiry was a problem. I understand there's a language barrier. I understand Italian, but I have trouble speaking in Italian. My husband is Italian and born here. I did offer for them to speak with him. But it was ignored.
My husband saw the messages and screenshots I took of the various price quotes from this hotel. I told him I felt like it's a scam, and he advised me it is a scam and that it's very common here. Which I'm fully aware of.
I'll try to keep this short.
So the hotel says they offer better deals if you book directly with them. That's not true. Use booking.com. if you are desperate to stay here. Though there are much better hotels in the area.
They quoted me 2881.50. For just the room itself. This rip-off price did not include anything I inquired about. I asked if it included the cost of the pet stay? No reply to that. It didn't include the spa packages I inquired about that they offer on the site. Nothing. She person who replied to me ignored my questions a few times until I kept asking her to please answer. Why such a high quote? Do a breakdown of the cost? This also didn't include parking, which there's two options. Not stated on their site. There's free parking and paid parking.
Pretty much they charge you whatever they feel like it. They don't honor the website and do a lot of bait and switch tactics. Apon seeing this behavior, I bet if we were stupid enough to book here, they would find ways to add more fees. This is why we avoid hotels in italy and usually stay at airbnb.
The booking.com quote was $2,056. For 23 nights. Includeding taxes and pet fees.
The cost for 23 nights booking on their page not calling them or emailing is 2.088,18. So why did they try to scam me to pay 2881.50?
