The town above the hotel , Volterra is beautiful and commands 360 deg views across the neighbouring country side. The hotel itself was somewhat of a disappointment . It looks if the pandemic has had an effect. The decor both inside and out is in need of re-decoration and extensive maintenance needs...

Lovely small hotel in a beautiful location. Large room with sir con. Breakfast and dinner are excellent and my gluten free needs were well catered for. The staff are all lovely and friendly. My only complaint is the height of the bath is very high and as the shower screen us is fixed it is very hard to get in and out.

My wife and I returned to this hotel for the 2nd time. This Hotel is one of the very best , beautiful views but the owners and staff make you feel part of the family and they could not do more for you. Highly recommend this Amazing hotel.

Hotel is a bit dated but it has a great pool. Only warning is that there is a nasty hill climb required to get into town and there is no cab. It looked like there was a bus that goes up the hill top the center Volterre

Nice hotel on a very good location in Volterra / Tuscany. Great view on the hills from the pool. Breakfast and diner are fine. Hotel is a bit outdated and needs some new paint but nevertheless we had a pleasant stay.

Photos tend to overstate present state of repair however staff are friendly and helpful. A very happy and casual feel to the place so need to be flexible about some of the finer details you might expect in a more urban location. Classic Umbria views with central location allow it to be your hub to enjoy the history and wineries around the area.

This resort has a rich breakfast and a large swimming pool, which is very suitable for summer vacation. From the observation deck, you can see the small town of San Gimignano, which is known as the "City of a Hundred Towers". It is about 2 kilometers away on foot.

Good walking distance from the historical San Gimignano sites. The room was always clean and the staffs were very friendly. The iconic towers are visible from the hotel pool side.

Like all of the reviews available this property overall was great. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side and could do with a paint: however the rooms are still comfortable. Staff was friendly although didn’t offer much in the way of helpful advice or suggestions .Room was quite modern and clean. Breakfast was mediocre and some details were lacking: Many of the “clean” plates at the breakfast buffet were dirty with stuck-on food. Town had very limited things to see and do. There were a couple good dining options, but not many during early season.

I traveled to Italy on a group tour and this hotel was our base. Great food in the restaurant, beautiful views out of my window of the Tuscany countryside. The property is beautiful and in a central location for reaching Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra. The breakfast room ladies were delightful as were the ladies in the Cardinale restaurant. Mina was an extremely affable and polite head waitress whose standard of courtesy is hard to come across in service industries anymore.

Great hotel! The staff is very kind. We had a baby that made a mess during breakfast and we asked for a broom to clean but the waiter rejected my request, saying that he will clean it.. Nice and quiet, amidst Sangiovese vines. Rooms are a quite large with separate sitting room/kitchen, bathroom quite spacious. Nice pool to plunge into. Excellent from the first look. Perfect restaurant, wine and breakfast. A bit more attention to detail needed. (Clean the swimming pool, exchange not working shower heads etc) also the highway so close is a benefit for the travelers but a bit disturbing for those staying for longer i would assume.

This is the most 5 star, 4 start hotel I’ve ever been to. From the minute we walked in, until the minute we left, the staff was incredible and kind. The hotel room was immaculate. So clean. Smelled so good. The rooftop pool, bar, restaurant was so nice and fairly priced for such a nice hotel. The staff was always eager to ensure we were satisfied and happy. Relais Le Macine is a beautiful hideaway perfectly situated in the countryside near Siena for day trips through Tuscany. Quiet, birds chirping and a lovely pool to cool off after a day in the sun.
