Hotel Ponta Nova

Beautiful hotel on a nice location. I shall give the good stuff first and at the bottom is the bad.

The rooms are gorgeous and the view is even better. Rooms are clean and overall the hotel is very clean. The only complaint about the rooms is the fact that the walls are very thin and you can hear everything around you.

Up on the roof is a bar, a pool, beds for sunbathing and a hot tub. The pool and the tub were fairly clean, could be better. This hotel also has a little playground for kids. WiFi works in every room, which is not the case in every hotel.

The hotel offers a transportation service to the airports and areas in Budva. 5 person group to the center of Budva was only 10€, when a taxi costed 30€. The driver was friendly and knows the roads well.

Now to the bad stuff.

Breakfast is not very good quality and the restaurant is very questionable, if you visit it outside of breakfast hours. Behind the bar counter, on the sink and the beer tap, is growing a thick layer of black mould. The drinking glasses are right next to it, so I wouldn’t recommend any drinks or beer from the restaurant. We tried to complain about this to the receptionist, but she said there is nothing they can do about it. We even tried to complain to the restaurant itself about the health and safety issues, but they weren’t interested in the feedback. Reading the reviews of the restaurant (Kapetanova Konoba) someone had pointed out the mould problem 3 years ago! Avoid this restaurant at all costs and get your breakfast elsewhere. This is for your own safety.

Outside of my room, on the hallways, assuming one of the housekeepers had spilled soap on the floor and I slipped to it. I grabbed onto a door handle, so I didn’t hurt myself. I told the receptionist and asked if she could inform about it, before someone gets serious hurt. She smiled and muttered something, did not ask if I was okay or anything. About an hour later I walked back and the soap was still on the floor. I decided to clean it myself, since the staff did not handle it. After another day, my door was also unlocked after the housekeepers had been in it. I was away for the whole day and could have lost all my belongings. I was very lucky to still have my clothes when I came back, but my earphones (the only valuable item I had left in the room) were missing. I went to ask about this, but the receptionist did not understand me.

Everything is fine and the service is helpful as long as nothing goes wrong. But the moment something happens, they will not help you.
