Cititel Penang in Georgetown

I stayed seven nights at Cititel Hotel Penang in a Deluxe Double Room. Central location, clean rooms, comfortable bed, pillow menu, good desk chair, and helpful housekeeping. Sustainability efforts like water refill stations on each floor are a big plus.

While the hotel markets itself as “Business Friendly,” the experience feels more functional than fully embodied. Small details – such as writing materials, clearer workspaces, and quieter public areas – would significantly elevate the business experience. Some interiors feel dated, and noise from doors and air conditioning affects overall calm.

A reliable hotel with good basics and clear potential. With a few conscious upgrades, it could truly live up to its business-friendly promise.

Value for money and the staffs were all very friendly and helpful. We stayed here for 2 nights wanting to roam about the city centre and then went up to Batu Feringgi to stay at Rasa Sayang for the remaining 2 nights just to relax and chill. I must say that after experiencing both hotels, Cititel wins hands down in terms of staff friendliness and helpfulness. Everyone is so warm and friendly and truly helpful from arranging a special cake for my birthday and everyone wishing me happy birthday, even the doorman knew it was my birthday :) The room is very comfortable and the hotel is ideally located in the heart of Georgetown with everything within walking distance. This will definitely be our go-to hotel when we come back to Penang next! Thank you to the team and staff at Cititel for making our stay so warm and welcoming!

We had some issues with due to our local travel agent and in search of hotel we came here, though it was full on booking and Tripcom.
They semi sustainable and do great job. They offer orange juice on check in, awesome. Bed mattress and pillows are excellent.

Good location. Easy access to bus and CAT. Walking distance to local market and local eating food streets. Hotel staff attitude is super friendly and courteous. Special thanks to front office staff Susanna, Nazifa, Fakhrul and Evelyn from the F&B. All of you had made our stay at citadel Hotel so comfortable and enjoyable. Hospitality at this hotel was truly superb! From the check-in process, I was already amazed by how friendly and welcoming the staff were. The room was spotless, nothing to complain about at all. I even received complimentary drinks and desserts delivered right to my room, which was such a nice surprise.

The next morning during breakfast, once again the staff were incredibly attentive. They helped me find a table, and the food was delicious. One of the staff even offered to get more food for me and asked if everything was okay, such thoughtful service! Basically, every staff member I met greeted me warmly with a smile.

Parking is convenient and secure, with two indoor levels provided within the hotel building. The location is also perfect, most popular attractions are within walking distance.

Overall, I’m super happy with my stay and will definitely come back the next time I visit Penang. Highly recommended!

It is a pretty nice area that is quite walkable. The staff at the front desk actually called a few times to see if we were happy with the room, which is quite rare to me. If I were to go back to Penang again, I would probably stay here again. If you want to take some fun pics, check out the upside down museum that is walkable from the hotel. It is quite cool!

Hotel is neat and clean A lot of eateries within walking distance. A bus stop for free city shuttle bus nearby with a,market for cheap food and grocery.

Superb hotel should stay here again everytime i am in kelantan

5 star for the service and location and view. Although this is old hotel, but they keep it well and clean. the breakfast is fabulous, they do provide sushi, nutella and the sauce is heinz brand. Just the bed need improvement, maybe is old ady.
