Everyone is so warm and friendly and truly helpful from arranging a special cake for my birthday and everyone wishing me happy birthday, even the doorman knew it was my birthday :) The room is very comfortable and the hotel is ideally located in the heart of Georgetown with everything within walking distance

This will definitely be our go-to hotel when we come back to Penang next! Thank you to the team and staff at Cititel for making our stay so warm and welcoming!

We had some issues with due to our local travel agent and in search of hotel we came here, though it was full on booking and Tripcom. They semi sustainable and do great job. They offer orange juice on check in, awesome

I must say that after experiencing both hotels, Cititel wins hands down in terms of staff friendliness and helpfulness

Totally I truly appreciate your kindness. Next, breakfast had a wide spread and i loved the DIY coffee machine. Often crowded but seats were readily available. Thank you Breakfast also was delicious

The fridge is nicely located at eye level & intentionally left empty. Swimming pool was good & had a nice view of the surrounding area

Love the cleanliness of the rooms and towels. Although our room had a discernible cigarette smoke odour upon checking in, the housekeepers were quick to help freshen up the air

Easy walk to 1st Avenue Mall that is connected to Prangin Mall (2nd storey). The hotel is well maintained & quiet facing as requested for our 4 night stay. It would be nice if hair conditioner & body lotion is provided

I was truly appreciative to have a quiet and peaceful environment to have all my meals in the hotel. Giles has the most comfortable linens that you can find. I slept well and hope to return again in very near future

We were upgraded to premium lounge, which includes breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. It's a great gesture for me as I am going through chemo therapy, the hygiene issue is top priority for me

Attended a wedding dinner at the ballroom. Chinese course dinner is very nice. Service is good and staff are courteous and helpful. Wheelchair friendly. Parking lots available both outside and inside the gotel building.

Ample of parking lots at multi storey parking at the back of hotel. Sauna, jacuzzi (hot and cool) and steam room. (Separate for male and female) and children are not allowed to use these facilities

+ Cleanliness is great + Room is huge + Heaps of Complementary drinks + Breakfast is good, worth the price. + Room has good sound proof - hotel is old, my shower had some issue

Two nicely painted tennis courts available. Drink at the freezer is free to consume. TV a bit old and not many channels available. Friendly porter is friendly and helpful

Love the breakfast and where else can you get free apples daily with complimentary mini bar. Location is perfect and gym facilities is great too

Staying at a Club rate? Have your breakfast at the Club Lounge at the 16th floor. Much better experience than the breakfast service in 'The Islander' restaurant in the lobby.

Looking for the beach? Guests use the pool facilities at the sister property Golden Sands Resort in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel provides a free shuttle to this resort. Sign-up one day in advance!

Very nice hotel. Next to Prangin Mall and bus station. Go to the information counter and get the Rapid KL pocket map. So you can travel all over Penang Island by bus ! Cheap and easy :)

Minor areas for improvement - made multiple calls from my room to the guest service which were unanswered over a span of 10-15 mins; bathroom door for room 1020 couldn’t close easily; and the flush for the toilet bowl also appears to be lacking power for a proper flush

Great stay here - staff are pleasant and polite, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was tasty, and location is conveniently beside Gurney Plaza with multiple shopping and dining options

Made a request during booking for a complimentary cake to celebrate my mum’s birthday, and they very kindly noted it down and provided one

Free parking, decent size swimming pool for children, great gym with lots of equipment but might be a bit cramp, great variety for breakfast buffet

They share facilities with nearby G Hotel Kelawei like swimming pool, gym and lounge. Besides Kelawei has a pool party which is free to play. They have a buggy to bring you there too

G Hotel Gurney is attached to Gurney Plaza Shopping and is at an excellent location. The suite is spacious and breakfast is included, lounge access from 6-8pm everyday too. The minibar inside suite is also included.

Large room, comfortable bed and clean. My kids enjoy swimming at the pool, fast check in and check out

Since the swimming pool is shielded from sunlight by the building, we can start swimming early, even from 12 noon.

The hotel has a lot of character and charm, which makes it all that much better. And then to top it off being able to head to the rooftop bar and restaurant for a drink, with the best views is just the cherry on the cake

Carpets in hallway TOO HOT for tropical climate! Room needed to be vacuumed DAILY. Don't forget toilet rolls!!!!!!! I didn't eat any meals at hotel, preferring to be outdoors, sightseeing, and eating street food.

We were only supposed to be in Penang for 3 days, but due to a multitude of glorious reasons we extended our stay and extending our stay at the lovely Bayview made it all that much better

food for the event was awesome. A well organised event basically. They even arranged a Family room for me which was spacious n clean. Swimming pool was clean as well. Recomended especially for vegetarians

Attended a farewell dinner for our head of department, Penang GH at Berjaya Ball Room 3 days ago. Staff incharge of events Pn Rafidah n her team (Staff on duty was loy,acun,Drafi,Hilmi) done a wonderful job

This hotel has well-trained staff who are very friendly and helpful. Although it’s an old building, you get what you expect here. I especially remember one staff member named Kamaruzzaman a great guy

We stay in this hotel twice a year due treatment to my mom to a hospital accross the street

The room we booked mostly is family room which is have no problem at all, everything was perfect, ac running well, water heater is perfect, we just love the room

Travel with big huge family members. Nice floor for swimming pool n gym. Hotel lobby is nice with bar attachable. Opposite is garden n alot of facilities for children to play around

I appreciate the free buggy rides from the hotel to Gurney Plaza. There was beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby and the buffet breakfast restaurant which lent a festive feel to the Season

Spacious room with king bed. Hotel is very conveniently located next to Gurney Plaza shopping mall. There’s a sky bar on the 24th floor offering weekend live band and a view of Georgetown.

A relaxing stay and the location is tops. My go-to hotel each time I come to Penang which is often. Service at reception & the bell boys were very polite and professional

I'm blown away, staffs are polite and rooms are perfect. The executive room comes with a sofa chair and a working table. Love the pool & executive lounge. I'll be back again if I come to Penang.

Thanks for the birthday cake arrangements. Our bath tub is leaking and also when we checked in, bath tub has some hairs still there. Otherwise the rest is still alright

Very big and spacious shower stall in the bathroom which was great for me. Had a look at the roof top pool. There’s a small indoor function room next to it. Suitable for small events… view was great!

It can get quite noisy on weekends and night time due to the crowd and music from the streets, especially if you're on a lower floor

Plenty of the shops available within walking distance. Amble Parking space for the solo traveller. Keep it up

While the decor and finishing did feel somewhat dated, it was evident that the hotel has been very well maintained, ensuring a clean and comfortable stay

A four-star hotel should not provide towels with torn edges or bedsheets stained with blood and other unknown marks. Equally disappointing was the breakfast, which offered limited choices and lacked flavor.

Our room - on the third floor of the heritage wing - was expansive, stylish, comfortable and had a beautiful view of the water. The old fashioned bathroom was charming and the shower powerful with loads of hot water

What a beautiful, historic hotel. Occupying a great position in Georgetown near the water the building has a classic facade and timeless charm. Service throughout our 3-night stay was friendly and generous

The breakfasts were great - our favourite was on the terrace in the heritage wing though Sarkies in the Victory annex had lots more choice and a great chef who made roti canai to order which was a real treat! The gym was adequate (although it was steamy hot at times!) and the two pools are gorgeous (my preference was for the one in the heritage wing)

Sleep quality wasn’t great - on two occasions there were weddings downstairs so one time I could hear the disco (although it stopped at 10:30) and the second time rowdy guests in the corridors until 2am

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The old wing has an incredible atmosphere — polished wood floors, striped hallways and that classic old-world elegance that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era

Awesome hospitality and great service but the only drawback I found is that the breakfast buffet is only meant for local people and not international food itinerary so you would be forced to eat which are not cup of tea for you and very limited option for vegans which is really disappointing

Apart from this I loved the shampoo gel provided by the hostel it works amazing on hair to make it look silky and shine moreover the hair drier provided will act as a saviour for ultimate hair styling within a few minutes if you are capable of doing it

I would say that location is perfect, not that much crowded. Service of the hotel is really good. The rooms are big enough in size but, lights of the room dont function properly,and hair dryer is v slow

Service was good as we accidentally wet the floor from showering and called the housekeeping. They came quite promptly and mopped up the wet floor and replaced the floor mats. breakfast was a saticfactory variety

Regular guest at this hotel due to its excellent location close to many tourist attractions, as well as to the Ferry Terminal to the mainland. Room was spacious, clean, with tasteful decor, quiet & comfortable

Service reception was successful, house keeping was helping, hotel just in the middle of town can access to all place, facilities and amenities was good, i like the pool is beautiful and clean, sure will repeat again soon

The staff were friendly and helpful during my stay. My room was nicely prepared and clean. I happened to meet the room maintenance lady that came the next morning. She was very friendly and nice to greet with me

The best royal chulan chains in Malaysia so far compared to the one in KL and Damansara. Staff quality on the top notch, always greeting and smiling. Room is spacious and very clean

Just 2 minutes away is GAMA Supermarket, which includes a small pharmacy and bakery—very convenient for anything you need. Opposite hotel is the Hin Bus Depot. The rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked well

The water heater took about 3 minutes to produce hot water, which could be improved to reduce water waste. Soundproofing wasn’t the best, as I could hear the neighboring shower, but it wasn’t a major issue for me

However, the bathroom exhaust fan was quite loud (though manageable if turned off after use), and the room lighting was a bit dim—adding a floor or table lamp would be helpful

There’s also a hidden bar, Good Friend Club, less than 100 meters from the hotel entrance, and another one, Magazine 63, about 10 minutes away, across from 1st Avenue Mall

The hotel has a gym and swimming pool @ roof top level-25, though we didn’t have time to use them. The facilities well-maintained. Overall, we had a great stay. The staff and security were friendly and welcoming

Worth to stay as easy to access to happening area. Soundproofing room need to improve especially near the swimming pool room

At first the ac is not cold enough, but after a quick assist from front desk the ac problem is fix. The location is very convenience for us. But we got a smaller size bedroom than before. Overall is ok

Received a free upgrade this time. I wonder if it was because of the last review I left here. Anyway, room is big and comes with a tub. Aircond is a bit slow to cool the room. Otherwise, the stay is overall pleasant.

Check in and out is smooth, room is clean but air conditioner is not cool, even setting at 16 degree. Breakfast is simple, fruits is not provided, amble of parking space

I followed the arrow on the wall "to the lobby" on the 1st level. I climbed down the stairs with my bad leg, due to sports injury. When I got to the bottom floor, there's the door to the lobby

Everything either had stains, dust or hair on it and this includes bedding, towels and the floor etc. I have enjoyed my stay and it's been very relaxing but unfortunately the housekeeping let this hotel down massively

I heard that the hotel is no more here. They had to closed down due to pandemic. I don't know anymore further than that. The building still look good though from the outside

But the stairs at the carpark was super dusty, like I'm entering the Adam's family mansion for a sec. For a minute, I thought I'm lost in Alice in Wonderland

The hotel takes on a colonial spin with large, spacious but slightly run down rooms. The pool has amazing views but I would not recommend small children as it has a considerable 9 floor drop on one edge

Tried to open it, but it was locked. I had to climb back up again to the 3rd floor where I was at earlier. Then I got into the security room, they guide me to the elevator

We stayed for 3 nights here! Check-in was swift since we arrived at the hotel ~5pm. We loved the spacious room with vintage Peranakan decor. The king-bed was so comfortable

I love the heritage cultural, wooden style, historical vibe and especially the first time I'm seeing a bathtub with jacuzzi. Fully furnished and also outside have a water dispenser without worrying to look for water

We ended up only with coffee and croissants and headed out for local foods, since Penang is a food paradise 😝😜! It is great to stay at George Town, as the area has a lot of Michelin-rated eateries

Best experience was the bathtub with jacuzzi! After a hot day touring around Penang, a long soak in the tub was very refreshing! The air-conditioner tripped on our last night 😭

Thankfully the ceiling fan was strong enough to keep us cool. The room came with daily breakfasts, and the spread was the same

The breakfast choices are not much but still able to have full breakfast with nice sea or city view. No swimming pool but my kids were able to enjoy in the bath tub

The hotel location is superb.. it is along the Penang Road that was very easily can find hawkers foods. The hotel provide slipper for those who do not bring to walk around the city. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Too noisy at night if your room faces the back or Penang bridge view. Cant sleep past past midnight with live band musiccfrom the restaurants
