nice and clean room location is near to the Georgetown city
Nice hotel to stay in city area. Service is excellent. Has swimming pool, separate ladies and gentlemen jacuzzi, sauna, kids club, fitness. Room is big and clean. Air conditioning is good. Breakfast menu is good. Worth the price staying here.
The hotel and the rooms overall looks dated but clean. Staff service was at par with the usual 4/5* rating. Most of them are able to speak in English. Location is great with many local food available with ½ km and malls as well. This is the ideal location. For a holiday. The only strange thing was that housekeeping claimed they do not allow guests to borrow knives.
Ample of parking lots at multi storey parking at the back of hotel . Swimming pools for family. Sauna, jacuzzi (hot and cool) and steam room. (Separate for male and female) and children are not allowed to use these facilities. Two nicely painted tennis courts available. Cool kids room. Drink at the freezer is free to consume. Clean room with cool air con. TV a bit old and not many channels available...
Pretty old but bang for your bucks. The best hotel I've stayed in Penang so far. Great to bring elders and older adults to stay in. + Cleanliness is great + Room is huge + Heaps of Complementary drinks + Breakfast is good, worth the price. + Great location. Near gurney plaza. + Room has good sound proof - hotel is old, my shower had some issue. - room is a bit dark. - senior staffs were great but the...
Great hotel. Clean and excellent services from check in to checkout. Room requested for higher floor at 1219 is spacious, clean and excellent facilities. Love the breakfast and where else can you get free apples daily with complimentary mini bar. Location is perfect and gym facilities is great too

Great stay here - staff are pleasant and polite, room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was tasty, and location is conveniently beside Gurney Plaza with multiple shopping and dining options. Made a request during booking for a complimentary cake to celebrate my mum’s birthday, and they very kindly noted it down and provided one. Minor areas for improvement - made multiple calls from my room to...
I booked this hotel for my family to stay … the room is not very new but overall is ok .. just that my parents said the room can hear the noise from the corridor … but the hotel staff service are good … breakfast spread was ok …
Hotel is generally good but far out to too many places and also my suites room has lots of ants. Need more thorough cleaning
Location is excellent with 2 shopping malls nearby, room is spacious and clean. The breakfast is great with lot of varieties to choose. Staff are friendly and attentive. Happy with the stay, will be back soon.
Hotel got ice cream and water when you waiting for check in . View no so good . Hotel is nice shopping mall just beside gurney plaza & paragon . Can walk and high tea . There cafe nice and cheese cake at gurney plaza quite good
First time staying here, very comfortable room! It’s next to Gurney Plaza which made it super convenient to eat and shop here. Will come again next time

Thanks for the birthday cake arrangements. Our bath tub is leaking and also when we checked in, bath tub has some hairs still there. Otherwise the rest is still alright
Clean room, friendly house keeping staff, good location
Spacious room with king bed. Hotel is very conveniently located next to Gurney Plaza shopping mall. There’s a sky bar on the 24th floor offering weekend live band and a view of Georgetown.
A relaxing stay and the location is tops. My go-to hotel each time I come to Penang which is often. Service at reception & the bell boys were very polite and professional. I appreciate the free buggy rides from the hotel to Gurney Plaza. There was beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby and the buffet breakfast restaurant which lent a festive feel to the Season. This time around, the only adverse...
I’ve stayed at this hotel a few years ago. As it was an impromptu solo trip, it is the hotel I remembered for its location, being flanked by Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. I also discovered it is within 10 minutes walk to my favourite Hokkien Mee stall at Pulau Tikus. Arrived at the hotel around 10am. So was quite pleased I was given a room way before check in time. What a beautiful, historic hotel. Occupying a great position in Georgetown near the water the building has a classic facade and timeless charm. Service throughout our 3-night stay was friendly and generous. The breakfasts were great - our favourite was on the terrace in the heritage wing though Sarkies in the Victory annex had lots more choice and a great chef who made roti canai to order which was...
Beautiful hotel. I really enjoyed the grounds and sounds of the ocean at night. I stayed in the original wing and highly recommend it. There are two dining areas, the new wing feels like breakfast in a busy Cafe. The old wing feels is much quieter and relaxed with a smaller breakfast spread and a la carte options. Spacious rooms and antique furnitures with modern amenities like coffee machine. The...
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The old wing has an incredible atmosphere — polished wood floors, striped hallways and that classic old-world elegance that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era. We stayed in the old building and loved it. The room was spacious, beautifully styled, and even had its own doorbell inside the bedroom — such a unique detail. We also got a newspaper...
I was genuinely impressed by this hotel — it exceeded all my expectations. The room was extremely spacious, beautifully designed, and filled with historic charm. The colonial ambience gives it a character that modern hotels simply cannot replicate. The pool area is stunning, especially with the sea view. It was one of the most relaxing parts of my stay. Service was also excellent. The staff were...
Other reviews would have given u descriptions of the room and they are all true. Spacious room, excellent services & quiet environment. Complimentary Cans of soft drinks given & replenished everyday with bottles of water as well. Free parking. The only complaint is their buffet breakfast. Amazing location and magic heritage building 💕the staff also very friendly
Been fortunate enough to have travelled quite a while throughout the world, and this has been one of the friendliest staff I came across on my trips. They went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable. 10/10 would come back
Fantastic service at this small old style heritage hotel. We had a small problem with our room which disturbed our sleep and on the second day the staff immediately tried to rectify the issue, and eventually upgraded us to another property on the same day. Wonderful!
Very cosy and authentic place !
Nice place to stay! Beautiful nature, peaceful and quiet. Definitely will come back again
Very friendly service, unique colonial architecture, clean and spacious rooms, the hotel restaurant Steak Frites also served some of the best steak I've had.

The hotel is beautiful. It’s a bit far from the city center though. The staff were helpful but not so friendly. The restaurants were good but did not offer traditional Malaysian cuisine. The pool area is gorgeous and relaxing.
Overall experience is great. Loved the bed and firm yet comfy pillows. Breakfast spread was great, with a pleasant surprise of fresh passion fruit. First room service experience here, western food and pizza come in huge portion and tasted great. Local delicacies were over priced though :P Would have given 5 star if the hotel could be more baby and kid friendly
Built in 1990 but has lost nothing of its charm. Rooms are well maintained, spacious and clean. A large pool with a relaxing outdoor area to sit down for a snack or drink is a nice place to be in the late afternoon or evening. Its proximity to the nearby golf course with all its greenery gives the hotel a laid back feeling.
Had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday here. I was not disappointed. The food is excellent especially the deserts. The romantic ambiance of the place with the songs played really sets the mood. The staff is very courteous. The view from The View is also nice. Loved the place!
Room is comfort and the view is peaceful. The environment is well maintained. Pool is nice and have hot tub. Breakfast is great and the price is reasonable. Add on breakfast is 50% off when staying in the hotel (very happy with this offer). Staff is very friendly and welcoming (specially pool and dining area). Will definitely repeat staying here.

This has come to be my favourite hotel in Penang now. Very close to the beach (though not recommended to swim at the beach). Well kept room. Friendly and warm staffs. Will surely be back whenever i return to Penang.
Very good services provided by every staff in the hotel. Break fast is good with many choice and seafood buffet at Friday/Saturday night is good too but bit slow in restock the seafood. Room is spacious but view not very good as booked the sea view but the view is blocked by trees. Asked to change a room and reception also happy to assist and bring us to check the room before change
Environment, Sea view, food, The facilities are very complete and all are very good.
I had a delightful two-night stay at Shangri-La Penang! The lush greenery and big old trees provided lovely shade, creating a relaxing atmosphere while I sit near the pool or beach. Very Nice hotel and staff, the front desk upgrade our room from garden wing to rasa wing which is more spacious and have prestige lounge and swimming pool for rasa wing guest. Really an excellent experience
Overall, we had a good experience at the resort. My child loved exploring the beach and pool, and the resort environment was wonderful. We even received a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room! We stayed here for 2 nights wanting to roam about the city centre and then went up to Batu Feringgi to stay at Rasa Sayang for the remaining 2 nights just to relax and chill. We had some issues with due to our local travel agent and in search of hotel we came here, though it was full on booking and Tripcom. They semi sustainable and do great job. They offer orange juice on check in, awesome. Bed mattress and pillows are excellent. We had no breakfast
I stayed seven nights at Cititel Hotel Penang in a Deluxe Double Room. Central location, clean rooms, comfortable bed, pillow menu, good desk chair, and helpful housekeeping. Hotel location is excellent. Use the side road of carpark for an easy walk to Cecil Street Food Court. Stayed two nights with parents. Both rooms were fairly maintained, “fairly” in the sense that furnitures couldn’t close properly, stains, wear and tear visible, and old televisions with blurry displays. Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang is a well-located, value-packed option with a standout rooftop dining experience—best suited for those who can overlook its dated look and occasional service hiccups. If you prioritize convenience, ambience, and space without needing modern finishes, it’s a solid choice..
All good ! For the parking it has poor visibility directional board so just keep yr eyes big 😄 for hotel itself everything it's all in well condition
Check in was a breeze. Got a nice room with a wonderful view! The staff were attentive and helpful. Would come again if ever in penang.

Awesome hospitality and great service but the only drawback I found is that the breakfast buffet is only meant for local people and not international food itinerary so you would be forced to eat which are not cup of tea for you and very limited option for vegans which is really disappointing. The hotel takes on a colonial spin with large, spacious but slightly run down rooms. The pool has amazing views but I would not recommend small children as it has a considerable 9 floor drop on one edge. The lobby has in theme furniture and a pond creating a relaxed ambiance. I was quite happy with our stay there considering we had a very good deal of almost 50% for a huge hotel room for 2 complete with a Jacuzzi bath tub. Very grateful for our free upgrade to a deluxe suite because our room was just not up to scratch. However, it didn't take us long realise that a majority of the hotel is just tatty. Lovely staff but the hotel and the service it provides are just not good enough for the standard we should expect from a 4* hotel in Malaysia. The entire experience is awesome. Staff are friendly and makes us feel like home! We got upgraded as well. Thank you for the services provided.
V friendly hotel. While hotel is small, it also means guests would rcv dedicated services and full attention.  Hotel is rich in history.  So never miss the guided tours which are in high demand  (free for hotel guests). Close to many of the popular local foods. And just 20min from the airport.
A very historic place that allow you experience how’s like to live in the past as a rich person. Where you can feel the feeling of living in the town area everywhere is access by feet / bicycle that’s provided by the hotel. High recommend you to rent a nyonya traditional clothes to get some photos here. To feel more in it. Historic building has been very well preserved.
A great experience to stay in a heritage hotel as Blue Mansion. The room is spacious and bathroom well renovated. For those who seek to try out a hotel that is unusual and unique, book yourself in one of 18 rooms available. The only downside is many visitors poking around to enjoy the house tour. We had a great time, staff were friendly and helpful.

Love the interior of the hotel so much. The bed was super comfy.
I cannot speak about the rooms and my stay there because I only dined there. Nevertheless, my experience was an enjoyable one. From the quiet, sophisticated yet cozy ambience, to the beautiful architecture and design of the place, to the wonderful food and service, Macalister Mansion is definitely a place everyone must visit. I visited the Guest Lounge. The ambience of the restaurant definitely deserves...
Excellent stay for a little indulgence. Spacious room with a huge bathroom. Attentive services from the hotel staff. A little nit-pickings: lack of USB charging ports in the room and a relatively slow wifi connections (modern day necessities even if it's a beautiful grand colonial style mansion). Overall, a great place to stay for vacation.
What a gorgeous place! I fell in love with the mansion as we drove in, I fell in love with the place even more when I was greeted by such kind staff. They set my room so beautifully - as I went with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary - with rose petals, bubble baths, and many more surprises! The facility was very clean. However, the location was a bit eh for us. Without cars, would be very hard...
Ample parking space available at the restaurant. It was a relief to have such convenient parking facilities, which added to the overall comfort and convenience of our visit. The ease of finding parking and the peace of mind it provided were truly commendable. The highlight of our dining experience was undoubtedly the quality of the food and the generous portions served. Every dish we ordered was a...
Beautiful hotel - however, there was no hot water in the room and you can see they miss some of the small details in maintaining a boutique hotel that is supposed to be 5 stars. They wanted to try fix the hot water past 10p at night when we were going to bed - they never bothered to attempt to fix the next morning. Also, they advertise free drinks and light snacks for happy hour - they gave us one...

Service friendly, room spacious, great location, comfortable bed etc. Wifi should be stronger but aside of that its really a perfect room for 2 at an affordable price.
Awesome Guest House! Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very cosy, design place to stay. Very well located with reach to all places you prob need ;)
This place is awesome. Stayed for 4 nights and it just felt like home. So cozy and comfy. Place is clean. Convenient yet quiet location close to cafes, hawker food and a drinking hole or 2. Awesome. Will stay again if in Georgetown. Wei & team are awesome : )
Great hideaway! Had a wonderful host Wei who helped us plan our itinerary. Great bed to sleep on after a day of walking around Georgetown.
A cosy and private hotel with shophouse setting. The rooms are modern with mostly Ikea furnishings! We got upgraded to the Yellow room for our honeymoon and it was a huuuge suite! Very cosy, comfortable and clean. Service is topnotch as the host recommended us places to go and was very warm and friendly :) snacks and wide selection of DVDs were available. We don't mind returning back to Mango Tree...

Great location, close to the sea, but it's a rocky beach, good for photos but not for swimming or playing in the water. I really like the design style, although it's a bit old-fashioned, like a hotel from an old American movie. The room is very spacious, and the mattress is super soft. However, there's no bottled water or toothbrushes provided. It's still good value for money overall.
The room is large and there are many attractions around. It is a gathering place for Chinese and Indians.
The hotel is located downtown where you can enjoy the surrounding attractions with walking distance.
The hotel is located in Georgetown, that's where the positives end. Deposit upon arrival 50 ringit, deposit for iron 30, hair dryer 20 ringit. There are 2 sinks in the room, but only one has soap and it is glued to the sink. Extra soap RM5. There is no shampoo, no conditioner, no shower gel, no disposable toothbrushes. There are only two towels for two people. There is no talk of any 4 stars. There...
nice rooms. i like the decoration, but no lift to go upstairs.its difficult if u carry many things.
I stayed for one night at The Chambers Hotel. Though it’s well maintained, it still looks dated but still comfortable enough. The receptionist was friendly enough to upgrade me to family room as my own room type was already full. Wifi is quite strong though it may lag sometimes when streaming videos. The toiletries are relatively sufficient with both shampoo/body soap combo and toilet paper (though...

Clean - 5 star Friendliness - 5 star Location - 4 star (near to bar cafe) Amenities - 4 (no iron)
It was a great place overall, experience the traditional wooden house as you still have the chance before it's gone! The outside of street Chulia is full of vendors with hundreds of food for you to fill your stomach all way through but make sure to prepare yourself around 7pm-9pm cuz the food there sold out quite fast
Apartment is clean and fully equipped with fridge and even clean filtered drinking water. Location is good, just a around the famous Love Lane in Georgetown
Vintage and the location is good
I knew I would love the house from the photos. I guess I was a little worried about the neighborhood when we pulled up- not safety but mainly food and services. I could not have been more wrong. There are almost endless choices in this very vibey neighborhood- everything from street food to gourmet. I loved the salads as Cafe 55 and the fresh fruit vendor. It was quite hot while I was there. In the...
