Nice location with beautiful beach and clean sea. Unfortunately 2 of the resort restaurants were closed, lack of food variety. Staff nice and helpful. Certain hotel and public areas would require renovation/upgrade. Absolute highlights are the monitor lizards and monkeys freely moving on hotel premises.

Unfortunately, this was a bad experience - no water for a day, then when we got back the water was dark brown and super smelly.

I recently stayed at Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was well-maintained, making our stay comfortable and relaxing.
The location, however, is quite isolated, as the resort is located in Karambunai Peninsula, about 30–40 minutes from Kota Kinabalu city. It’s perfect if you want a peaceful escape by the beach, but not so convenient if you’re looking to explore the city or find nearby restaurants—options outside the resort are very limited and quite far.
The service was excellent, with very friendly and helpful staff who always greeted us warmly and tried their best to accommodate our requests. However, I noticed that the resort has become quite crowded lately, likely due to the recovery period after COVID-19 when businesses are starting to pick up again. Some areas are still under renovation, and it was clear they are in the midst of improving their facilities.
The amenities were good, with a beautiful beach, swimming pools, spa services, and recreational activities that kept us entertained throughout our stay.
Overall, Nexus Karambunai is a lovely place for a peaceful beach vacation, but be prepared for the distance from town and the current renovation works. Hopefully, once the recovery process is complete, the resort will be even better.

Great place to stay

Nice, little cosy place, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Was there mid june when it was not too crowded, had a lot of space at the swimming pool and the beach. Service was prompt, breakfast spread was nice, with a good variety. Since it is isolated, had to drive out a bit to visit the nearest mall. Need to be extra careful around the area at night as there are no/minimal lighted lampposts along the roads.

I had booked an ocean view room, as confirmed in my reservation. However, upon check-in, I was initially assigned a room overlooking a pond with a large tree obstructing the view. Fortunately, the receptionist was extremely helpful and promptly arranged a room that matched my original request. Overall, my stay was average, with cleanliness being just acceptable. I was quite exhausted from the check-in process and the hassle of switching rooms, so I don’t have much more to add.

It's a nice place if you're looking for peace and quiet, away from city life. But going during festive season is probably not a good idea.

My stay at the resort was not as smooth as i hoped, i did have some issues as the resort clearly requires a lot of attention in terms of maintenance. The issues i faced were addressed promptly by Mr Jakil who has the knowledge and competence to address many of the issues the resort is facing. As i have more than 15 years of management experience, i know talent when i see it and i believe Mr Jakil has it and should be given more responsibility and authority in the hotel to raise the quality and standards.
