Aree Tara Resort - SHA Extra Plus

Its location is nice on a not so busy street. The hotel doesn’t look like the booking pictures at all!! Its very outdated and very gross. They did clean the room before we entered but they obviously haven’t done any deep cleaning ever.

There were a lot of stains from water/chalk and a lot of places with mold. The AC makes a tremendous amount of noise so moist of the time we were just boiling hot… everything is outdated and there’s a lot of dust everywhere (on top of lamps or just on cupboards or a regular shelve in the bathroom). We only paid 40€ a night and it did have a lot of space. We were also tired from traveling so we didn’t complain and just took it as it was.

The first floor smelled like laundry for one part and the other part smells like sewage.. we were happy to be on the 4th floor. There were a lot of musquitos. We did use the laundry service and that was nice. However when we tried to hand it in they almost gave us the laundry from another room, which was a little weird.

Would not stay here again. I did like the elephant towels, but these pictures are the only ‘good ones’. We did see other reviews about dirt etc and ours was exactly the same.

Good Location, But Lacking Basic Amenities for the Price

I stayed here during Songkran with my family — three adults in one room. The hotel is in a good location, which is a plus. However, one major downside was the lack of parking, which made things quite inconvenient for us.

What disappointed me the most was that when I asked the staff if an iron was available, they informed me that the hotel doesn’t provide one at all — despite being a 4-star hotel. For the price we paid, this was very surprising and quite unacceptable.

If you’re considering staying here and the rate is more than 800 THB per night, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

We booked this hotel based on the numerous fantastic reviews. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were greeted by a run down building in need of a good clean and lick of paint. When we arrived in the room itself, it had not been thoroughly cleaned beforehand, with the bathroom in particular having mould on tiles and grime around the sink, toilet and shower. We were very disappointed and immediately booked elsewhere for our time in Krabi. For $14 more in total, we managed to book a last-minute, beautiful resort-like hotel right on the beach and had breakfast included. The receptionist of Blue Tara was very lovely and welcoming but unfortunately, we could not see any advantages to this hotel which would make it more favourable than other hotels in the area.

The worst hotel that I have been in Thailand.

The room was very dirty, with old dampness, full of dust. The tiles in the toilet were dirty, and there was mould in the silicone, on the floor, and lime scale present. The walls and steps of the pool were green (mould) and also missing tiles, so you can cut yourself easily.

The hotel needs proper maintenance and a thorough deep cleaning.

The only positive aspect is the breakfast and location.
