Reviews
- a bit complicated way to the room, need to use 2 elevators and walk up after for some mins
It seems there is no construction project management in place. I’ve renovated building before so my advice to whoever is in charge is: Have 6 building workers in one room - you will actually renovate way more effectively with less disturbances on your guests. Right now you have 1 building worker per room across 6 rooms. They are all totally spread out, paint and cement everywhere, doing small little jobs. So inefficient.
As a guest for 5 weeks, I have very limited access to the hotel and to my room on the 7th floor in the first building and as the hotel is on a hill, this has made access even more difficult.
Speaking of hills…
WARNING: this hotel is on a hill. The top buildings require a buggy ride in order to access quickly otherwise you need to walk through a succession of long hallways and many elevators to get up there. It sounds wonderful but when it’s raining or your tired from a long day out or you’ve been shopping to get more water (which is heavy) the last thing you feel like doing is walking for another 20 minutes. So opt only for building #1.
The room is spacious but dated. Huge bath tub which is awesome but you can’t get wifi in there 😂 shower great pressure and super hot. Towel rack hanging off the wall. Air conditioning makes a lot of noise (in every room - I am part of a large group staying and everyone has the same issue).
WARNING: the toilet spray nozzle thing is strong enough to water blast a dirty car clean 🧼😂
Reception staff are friendly and try their best to be helpful. The language barrier makes things very very difficult tho. Sadly I only speak English and my Thai is terrible so there have many situations where this has been an issue as a guest.
Cafe makes good decent breakfast. Apparently there was also a roof top bar restaurant but it’s been closed down soooo no Sunset cocktail stories to be found here.
There is a small fitness centre with pool access but you won’t be swimming in it because it’s full of building debris and cement dust. CLEAN THE DAM POOL ⚠️😖
Location is perfect for Kata, very central and close to so many shops and restaurants. Lower your expectations and you will be able to enjoy them all ✊😂
Cleanliness was generally great, but we did discover two dead roaches in the room after returning from outside. Note as well that the hotel is up on a hillside, so be prepared to walk up a bit when returning. We would return nonetheless, maybe once some of the Russians leave Thailand.
To me the hotel isn't dated as much as it is a bit tired. It's kept in excellent working order, the public areas are pleasant, the pools are very clean.
The staff are very kind and friendly and really try to help. Breakfast had many options and there's plenty of it, including an omelette/egg station.
The first room I was given was an upgrade on my initial booking, which was very kind on Christmas. Unfortunately, the aircon wasn't working, so they immediately moved me. Great. The next room they offered me was an upgrade on my upgrade. Lovely! They opened the door and it wasn't made up. Ok, also not a big deal, I said I'll go to dinner and when I come back you can give me another room. The next room was an upgrade to what must be their best or second best level room. Extremely gracious. It's a bit of a hike to get to the premium rooms though, requiring two lifts and a set of stairs.
My only issue was that the cleaning wasn't great to my mind. To be fair, I never complained about it to give them a chance to correct, and I'm sure they would have had I pointed it out. I just cleaned it myself.
