Tree Roots Retreat Hotel

Tree Roots Retreat is a gem for people looking for a weekend getaway to unplug. It is tucked into a field but still walkable to the beach, and my what a sight the sea was that weekend!

The whole place has a distinct character with mix-and-match decor & furnitures, but they all come together quite well and the overall ambience is one of coziness. To me it feels like the summer version of curling up by the fireplace with a hot cocoa when it's snowing.

The rooms are spacious with a huge bed, it is so comfy I could literally sink into it and disappear for a week! Each room also has a private "loft" which doubles as a reading nook. Don't fret if you forgot reading materials, they have a library there too!

What makes the place standout the most though, isn't all of the above I've mentioned, but rather the hospitality and sincerity the retreat hosts - Carol & Dennis - show to each of their guests. What a wonderful pair!

Carol and Dennis that manage Tree Roots retreat are some of the kindest most interesting people I have ever met, nothing was a hassle and they are so accomodating for anything you need.

I have never visited Thailand and stopped here first after landing in Bangkok, they made me feel so at home and were so welcoming and taught me so much about Thailand, the culture and so much more.

The retreat has a gym, sauna, ice bath and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym which you can do group classes or one on one.
I did 3 BJJ classes whilst I was there and built so much confidence and self defence skills.

There is also a HUGE library with thousands and thousands of books some of which are hundreds of years old.

There are pet dogs, a tortoise, lizards, a cat, birds who are all people friendly, as well as local wildlife that you can also see living at the retreat.

The rooms were beautiful, clean and modern with a rustic feel.

The retreat is located about 5min bike ride or 10min walk to the beach which has restaurants and street vendors.
They provided me with a mountain bike to ride while I was there are also options to hire a motorbike which they can help you with.
Carol and Dennis also provided recommendations on where to eat/drink/ things to do.

Charming & peaceful little hotel near Mae Ram Phueng beach. I spent my 2 comfortable nights there with my family and it was a perfect place for a small kid and our 2 dogs. The room was spacious, clean, and well decorated. The place has lots of fun activities to do and has many cute animals. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back! :)

I’ve been here a few times now and I always wonder why I don’t come back more frequently. This place is like no other in terms of the serene environment, incredible library, martial arts options and quality of people I have met also visiting. This is one of those places difficult to explain how fantastic it is until someone physically comes to experience the gift of a real retreat. Solo or otherwise, a fabulous getaway.

What a beautiful and serene hideaway that the owner has created here. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect- all I knew was that I needed to reset for a few days; take a little break from the everyday noise and stress, and find a piece of myself again. This meant, among other things, stepping back from the irrational expectations I’ve placed upon myself in everyday life.
From the moment I corresponded with the owner Aaron, I felt a sense of peace and relief- like I had found the exact place I needed.
The magic here is that it can be anything you want it to be; whether you need structure/routine, peace and quiet, new spontaneous experiences, or completely unstructured freedom to do as you please- it’s here. I discovered much needed rest, quiet swims in the pool, an amazing gym to workout, endless books, tranquility, meaningful conversations with non-judgmental people whose stories/ backgrounds truly inspired me, and lastly, but definitely not least- a road-map for new ways of thinking and facing my fears.
I feel this was exactly the right time that I was supposed to come, and I look forward to coming back!

This place is amazing, it has a unique atmosphere which I personally never experienced in any other Resort/retreat. It’s literally packed with wisdom and most importantly a calm and Great energy! The gym is too notch and the people are just as nice as the whole project itself! Great experience visiting tree roots, out of the ordinary in so many good ways

Great place to experience. I recently had a a martial arts seminar there and it was awesome.
Big rooms with a nice pool and area just outside the room.
Great fresh breakfast in the morning.
The retreat has everything you need and close to the strip along the beach.
To be honest I don't have the words to express how much I enjoyed I enjoyed my experience there, I recommend to everyone.
