Hotel Sumengen

We recently enjoyed an 8-night stay at this fantastic hotel, perfectly situated in the heart of Sultanahmet. The location couldn't be better—just a 10-minute walk to major attractions like Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, and Hagia Sophia.

The hotel's breakfast was fabulous, featuring a lovely terrace view overlooking the Bosphorus, which made our mornings extra special. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the staff. They were warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful, making us feel very welcome and ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They truly deserve a 10/10 rating.

Overall, our family had a wonderful holiday, and we are grateful for the hospitality. This hotel provided everything we wanted and more, making our trip to Istanbul an unforgettable experience. Thank you!

Meliksah was an amazing host. Very helpful, friendly and informative. Stayed 2 nights. Easy access to restaurants and shops. Hotel was not as advertised. But the staff made up. Fantastic Turkish breakfast.

The service team provides excellent service. The rooms are good and comfortable. They offer a very good breakfast service. The hotel is in a perfect location. The only drawback is that when there is cold season they disconnect the air conditioning throughout the hotel and do not give the client the option to use it.

Amazing hotel with some good views if you have the sea facing rooms. The market and attractions are walkable and the breakfast served is good as well. The receptionists are really friendly and they were always helpful whenever we needed any assistance. Will recommend this to my family and friends for sure.

Very nice, spacious and clean room. The bath tub was definitely cleaned properly too as I have the habit of cleaning it before use. The staff are all very friendly and always welcoming to interact with my 4yo. Sultan, the cat, is probably the highlight of this hotel. We enjoy coming back to play with it.

Couldn't have asked for better people in a new city however the hygiene at sumengen can be better
The rooms where never cleaned properly it was dusty the bathroom was never cleaned properly the bathroom bin was never emptied I mentioned it to them that I have dust allergy and if they can plz clean the room properly but it wasn't done there where balls of dust all over the room
The mattress was I think safe to say over 20 years old and the sleeper couch was the quality of a 2 star hotel
To the owner of sumengen I would just like to say you have a beautiful hotel with beautiful staff please keep the hotel clean and upgrade the furniture

My family and I stayed at the Sumengen Hotel during our recent visit to Istanbul in October 2022. It was our first visit to Istanbul, and we were attracted to the hotel due to its location in the Sultanahment area of the city, near some of the city's most historic sites, such as the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. The hotel is right in the middle of all the action in Istanbul, and it was extremely convenient for us to get where we wanted to go from the hotel. We loved that the hotel served breakfast, which we ate every morning while staying at the hotel and found delicious. The breakfast was wonderful and their were many choices to choose from, including some Turkish specialties like simit, leaving us nourished for our days of sightseeing in the city. While our rooms were small, and the bathrooms were not 5-Star (I did not particularly love the shower in my room, couldn't get the water to spray directly at me without holding the nozzle and pointing at me), the hotel served its purpose for us as accommodations at a reasonable price. We REALLY appreciated the hotels wonderful staff, including Mr. Yanik, who assisted us in making our reservations, and in arranging many of the activities we did during our visit (including a wonderful boat tour of the Bosphorus). We would HIGHLY recommend the Sumengen Hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel right in the middle of Sultanahmet, close to sites, shopping and great dining! Thank you to everyone at the Sumengen for a WONDERFUL experience! We will definitely be back in the future!

And oh Sultan the cat, a local stray cat the hotel looks after, and who often sat in the hotel lobby when we came back each day, was an extra bonus for us on our trip also!
