Mammoth Mountain Inn

The good: friendly staff, nice inn right by the mountain with amenities like the gondola and kid’s fun park.

The bad: this place is in a state of disrepair, and the rooms are filthy, old, and the walls are paper, thin. (be selective and see if you can upgrade.) Also, my car got broken into by a bear, so don’t make that mistake.

I stayed at the Inn for 5 nights. The first night we arrived we were placed in the Yodeler house where the room was very old, cramped and had no view of the mountain. The room was clean but we found that our pillows were covered in black spots that looked like mold. The worst part of the room is that the roof was paper thin. We could hear every footstep taken, the closets opening and the cleaning staff vacuuming. So if you want a peaceful morning with the caterpillars beeping, explosions outside and your upstairs neighbors walking in their ski boots, this is the place to be. To make matters worse, we wanted to change rooms but instead had to argue with the front desk about the noise from the garage. They eventually moved us to another room after we called about the banging coming from the ceiling. The last issue we ran into is that there was a lot of snowfall but no where to go for dinner at night except the Inn. The food was good but it was extremely pricey. They had a courtesy shuttle but it stops at 9 and won't go if there is too much snow. We also learned that this is the last side to be cleared of snow to have the lifts run so we waited 2 hours before we could use the gondola to explore other parts of the mountain. If I could redo it, I would pay the extra money to stay in the village.
