When we arrived our room was ready. We got water at the reception desk. The whole hotel is a beauty. The walkways full of flowers, the gardens, the pools, the beach. The food at the restaurants is delicious so you don’t even have to leave the resort, but it’s a 15 min drive from Santa Barbara so if you feel so inclined you can get dinner there. The pool is kept warm so you can swim for a long time...
Loved this place! It was one of the few places I've stayed that I never felt the need to leave the property (I did but didn't actually need to). The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. The vibe of the resort itself was very relaxing. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Great view and access to the Ocean. I would highly recommend if the opportunity presents itself, to take advantage...
I can't praise this hotel enough for the exceptional experience they provided. The room's tasteful design and modern comforts ensured a relaxing stay, and the staff's attentiveness and friendliness added a personal touch to my visit. The hotel's commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious practices resonated with me, and their efforts to create a positive impact were truly commendable. The dining...
Great resort, enjoyed the steakhouse and the sushi restaurant. Room was great including linens, etc. BEWARE:if you walk on the beach the bottom of your feet will be covered in Tar/ sand mixture. ( in their defense a small sign before you walk down says so) . They have an area for cleaning up that includes a detergent/scrub solution that helps with cleaning up( your feet and possibly your shoes. I...
We love the hotel and the service was superb! It’s evident that staff was well trained in customer service. It was quite expensive but I felt we got what we paid for. We would stay there again next time we go to Santa Barbara. It’s away from everything including downtown Santa Barbara but love the location. We’re able to get to everything easily by car including day trips to Malibu and LA.
Such a beautiful area. Free bikes and very nice staff. You don't need to leave property. Pool and views are amazing. Very very relaxing. Wonderful spa.

Clean room, comfortable beds, nice linens, great service, lovely pool and jacuzzi area, sprawling mission style hotel only 2 levels right on the beach with ocean views. There were no elevators to get to the second floor. Has WiFi but breakfast is not included. There is ample parking. There is an all you can eat breakfast buffet that is fantastic but it is a bit pricey. The grounds are well maintained...
Cannot be beaten for location! The restaurant was great! We ended up eating there way more than we expected! If you are lucky enough to be served by Omar you are in for a treat! He is absolutely the best! The rooms are big and spotlessly clean! The pool was awesome with plenty of shaded spots to lounge! Then across the road is a beautiful beach.. HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you are staying in Santa...
From the time we entered the property we were happy! Valet services helped direct me to park and register, the front desk although busy was so friendly and attentive. Our room was inviting and comfortable, the pool was lovely and towels were stocked. Text to staff feature is a huge plus for simple questions about dining options and services. My only recommendation is to take a look at prices of onsite...
Excellent hotel in a great location within walking distance to State Street shopping and restaurants as well as a Trader Joe's and Rite Aid pharmacy. The room as spacious and well appointed. Located directly across from the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful.
A very beautiful beachside hotel with many offerings. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and our luggage was taken to the room for us. The room itself was huge with plenty of space for all our luggage. The balcony had a beachfront view which was a bonus. The heated pool is amazing along with the hot tub when it got chilly at night. They even have a complimentary laundromat to wash all our cloths...
The hotel is very nice and the view is beautiful. The best part was the employees. Every person we came in contact with was very nice and accommodating. They were terrific!

Edited my review as they did end up fixing the issue after 4 months. When you say you will call someone back, it would just be appreciated that you follow through especially knowing I was billed twice for an expensive room. Nice hotel and in the best location. _________ Told review: They billed me twice for one room and then wouldn't answer my phone calls and call me back to correct it. Ended up...
Beautiful and delicious pastries! Get there early to get the best pick. Lots of sell outs at Goat tree. Rooms are beautiful and comfy. Right in the heart of the funk zone. Something for everybody.
Truly a wonderful stay! Everything was expertly executed to perfection from arrival to departure. The design was thoughtfully exact, providing a fresh balance of class and artistic nuances throughout the hotel, my room being the epicenter of that intentionality. It was a cozy bit of paradise during my stay in Santa Barbara, offering true feelings of luxurious comfort. While everything was on point...
I like to think of myself as an experienced traveler and this place did not disappoint at all. Actually, it was probably one of my top hotel experiences period: from the hotel property, staff, and overall experience. I have to call out 5 amazing employees at the Hotel Californian: Alex, Kristos, Mercedes, and most importantly Adam. These individuals went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful...
The rooms are really great, spacious and with a great aesthetic. The only thing that didn't sit well is that the onsite bar & restaurant shuts on Sunday & Monday, not great if you are staying Saturday to wednesday!! The rooftop pool, although small is nice and refreshing with plenty of beds.

The 4 of us were here for 5 nights visiting family. The gardens, pool and surrounding area are beautifully maintained. Great room, great area, friendly staff. Definitely the top of the line of all Best Western hotels I have stayed at. Right off the 101, few miles from the beach in Goleta. And a quick trip to downtown Santa Barbara. Awesome breakfast to top it off too! Highly recommend
Had one of the best night's of sleep. Bed was so comfy. It was just a really nice n cozy stay. Definitely recommend to friends n family.
Comfortable bed and pillows, quiet, beautiful lobby and outdoor area, great full breakfast, nice staff, and one of the more affordable hotels in the expensive area of Santa Barbara. Fanatastic view from the courtyard.
I stayed here for 2 nights for work. The location is decent; easy to get to from the freeway, and there are plenty of stores, restaurants, grocery etc in the surrounding area. The pros are definitely that parking was free and that they include breakfast, which starts at 7am. I also noticed a lot of construction workers stay here. It would be nice if they started breakfast earlier, like maybe 6am or...
This hotel remains one of the best in the area. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet is good. Staff is cordial. The grounds are beautiful. Ample nearby food, groceries and other other stores. Convenient to airport and highway. Only minus was the low water pressure but that is not their fault.

Older hotel, but the room appeared to be totally renovated. Beautiful bathroom , all new furniture, working outlets by bed, new sliding door and screen that could actually slide easily, large balcony overlooking pool. Entire room, including balcony furniture, was spotless. Onsite restaurant was great for breakfast. We ordered an omelet online the night before, walked over and picked it up, and ate...
It was a pleasant short term stay. The rooms are relatively small and the queen beds are just okay for an adult, so keep that in mind if you are opting for the place. That said, the staff is warm. Pretty nice housekeeping, and the place is located in a safer and quiet neighborhood. The rooms are equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave, we didn't try the home service but it's fine and the options...
It might be the nicest Best Western we've stayed in. Customer service was great, room was huge and nice (slightly dated decor) and location was great with plenty of food options within walking distance. A wonderful place to stay on your way through Santa Barbara.
Beautiful motel centrally located in a lovely neighborhood. We chose this place for our 25th Anniversary getaway. Loved everything about it -- except the bed, which was unfortunately way too hard & very uncomfortable so we couldn't get enough sleep, leaving us both tired, sore, & unrefreshed the next day. This was frustrating and puzzling, as everything else we experienced here was fantastic. Why not...
Very nice hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. The rooms are spaced out and very comfortable. There was no noise from the roads and I could not hear neighbours. Breakfast is not included but the café/restaurant on site is good.

Fabulous stay at this hotel! The staff were all very friendly and helpful The place is so pretty with an old feel but very nice and clean. This place is so amazing and super cute. I stayed for one night as I had a wedding in the area. I must give a shout out to one of the staff members at the front desk. I worked for this hotel in the mid to late 90s. Hearing the complaints regarding the dinginess of the rooms is no surprise. People need to know this hotel is a historic landmark. It’s is a 100 yrs old, so naturally it’s going to feel a big dated. It’s got a Santa Barbara Spanish vibe and not a modern style hotel. So, if you like hotels with character, this place might be for you. The there are four...
We visit Santa Barbara once if not twice a year, for a family vacation. This hotel by far has been our favorite. A beach-themed hotel, it was nice to be able to check out a local favorite for ourselves, and we were pleasantly surprised. The lobby/food area was very inviting, rooms were simple, and the pool is gorgeous!! Will definitely recommend it to our visiting friends and family.
The Leta Hotel evokes everything California should be and is. From the Woody car and airstream out front to the laid back lobby with an ever running fireplace and side vinyl record room and finally to the rooms overlooking the classic old school style motel pool. I booked the Leta Hotel as the primary lodging for myself and my wedding guests about 1 year out - we simply fell in love with it and knew...
We recently hosted our wedding reception at The Leta and we had such a great experience! The event staff, Jessica and Terell, were so personable, warm, and helpful, and made our day so special! They helped us plan every detail and went the extra mile to make us and our guests feel welcome. We also had a room block at the hotel for our guests and everyone enjoyed the amenities and location.
Corporate boutique done relatively well, with faux vintage interior design, a pleasant pool and a good restaurant. AWFUL location right by the US-101 highway, however.
Went for an office Holiday party. Had to order at the bar but food was delivered to me and was delicious. Some of us shared it was ALL good. The decor is mid century modern boho. Very fun and funky. The servers were nice and the ? choices not bad. Lots of local brews and wines. In all a nice casual place.
Very friendly, cure, comfortable place for the night. Free wine in the lobby at happy hour. Fish lettuce cups were excellent.

The restaurant at this resort is amazing. They have the most wonderful views, good service, food and cocktails. We had drinks in the lounge area prior to dinner and then sat on the heated patio to enjoy dinner with a view.
This property really has to be experienced. It is above the city and the main beachfront shopping areas of Santa Barbara, but worth at the very least one night of your time in SB. The property is so classic and over the top on staff attention. The views, the cocktails and food were exceptional. I cannot wait to return. I call this relaxed luxury - don't miss it.
My husband and I just came back from a week at El Encanto and are torn on how to rate the hotel. It was our second stay on the property and some aspects of the resort are truly 5 stars. The grounds and the service are both incredible! It is hard to find a more stunning and thoughtful property in California. Additionally, the staff is best in class. Everyone (and especially their manager Brendan) goes...

Beautiful, cozy and comfortable. One of the best hotel stays I have had in all my travels. Fantastic amenities, wonderful staff, be sure to check out this hotel during your stay in Santa Barbara.
Amazing views of Santa Barbara and the coast from this nicely perched location. Great food and dedicated service staff make this an activity to experience if you come to Santa Barbara. Secluded, swanky and inviting describe this place. Brunch is amazing and includes bottomless champagne [of course], a sharing plate, an entree, and a desert bar to top it all off.

We enjoyed the accommodations very much. The room was clean and newly remodeled. The bed was really comfortable. I would recommend this for anyone who is looking for a peaceful nights rest.
Needed a break from everyday ruckus. Decided on a whim to go to SB. The stay was exactly what was needed. The receptionist was easy to talk to, and thry made sure to give us information on the town. And what we could do for fun. The rooms were clean and spacious, it was very modern. Loved how close this was to the funk zone. Would love to come back.
The service by Joel at the front desk was incredible. While in the lobby he attended to a guest needing waters and bandaids. He served this customer with care and inquired if he needed any additional assistance. The dog show was in town however the rooms were clean and well maintained and the multitude of dogs was a welcome treat. Always great to stay at this beautiful location.
The rooms were reasonably clean and comfortable. Parking is tight, and most of the rooms require going up and down stairs (though there is an elevator at the end of the building, parking can be an issue there). The recently renovated rooms are comfortable, and the balconies are nice and quieter than expected - though the rooms around the pool might be noisy at times. My main issue was the lack of water...
Amazing Value! Renovated! Great Location! Santa Barbara is pretty expensive so finding a hotel for a reasonable price, that’s decent is hard. This place is in the heart of everything and across from a shopping mall. The balcony faces the courtyard, which has a fire pit and pool that gives a cozy look. You really can’t go wrong with booking here.
Hotel was great, the pool was probably the highlight for me as I rarely see 8ft pools that are also very warm to swim at night. Very clean and well maintained the rooms as well. I do wish they have 2 more EV charging spots in the future but great rooms and great services for the price in the area.

Super convenient location if you have kids at UCSB. It's close to the major shopping center and the freeways, but much quieter and cleaner than the hotels on the other side of the airport. Also has a nice fitness center and a mini-market to pick up any snacks. Our room was very quiet; there was a big wedding party staying on our floor and we were not disturbed at all!
Beautiful lobby and accommodation. Sparkling clean bathroom and the best pillows of any hotel. My television didn't work when I arrived and housekeeping sent a tech to my room within minutes. The technician even refused my tip!

This place had a great location and a fast and friendly downstairs lobby. Everything was clean and we were in a suite which was a lot of fun! I liked this place. The staff was super nice that worked there. It’s a little older place but it’s super clean, rooms were large, didn’t smell, the grounds and pool area is very nice, the rooms have balconies or patios and that’s a plus. I definitely would recommend this place.
Manager , nice guy good customer services but the lady who wears glasses, bad service employee. 1st, toilet problem , 2nd courting broken,3rd remove control, to me this hotel should be 1 and a half star. OVERPRICED. Over $ 200, per night.

If you like to sleep in past 8am this is not the place to stay. Every time I stay here I get woken up at 8am consistently with the maids talking/laughing outside the room doors quit loudly. Rooms a tad small but have nice bathrooms. $15 for parking which is asinine. Pool and hot tub clean but crowded. The putting green is a nice touch. Expensive for what you get overall.
May I just say… After being treated like a 3rd class citizen by Caesar’s Palace Last week - it is such a breath of fresh air to be somewhere they treat you very well, have very nice rooms, and have plenty reasonable food and drink options on-site and within walking distance!!! Thanks Marriott, always a pleasure!!!
Nice hotel, clean rooms, spacious fitness center, but very high prices. They wouldn't honor the government room rate because they said they were too busy.
The place is nice and clean, but overpriced for the rooms and amenities. They charge for parking $15/day. Makes no sense when there is plenty of spaces. The workers are 50/50 nice and not nice. The electric charging station, there is only one spot. The rate is about 0.35/kwh at the time I saw it. There is a Tesla supercharger and Electrify in the plaze north of the hotel.

Generally had a good experience here on the trip to Santa Barbara. The room is clean, quiet though a bit dated. It also has complimentary breakfast. It's about 10 mins drive to downtown area with many good restaurants.
Pros: Clean rooms very nice and helpful staff members. Cons: Breakfast: They provide a variety of options like omelette, cereal, oatmeal, muffins, cream cheese and butter. However, the quality of what they make in their kitchen is below average. The restroom area in the rooms are not fully separable from the rest of the room, without proper ventilation.
Very nice faculty in a slightly rougher area than many expect. If you decide to go for a walk. Like typical California, homeless is an issue with a shelter and outreach locations within a block of the location. Other shops are definitely aimed at lower income demographics, so it's likely you will want to drive rather than walk for services. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel itself was generally...

Hot oatmeal, fresh pastries from...
Super quiet and peaceful place. It has small little buildings that have rooms. It feels like a personal getaway and if like we were the only ones here. The room we had was small and personal but it has a private balcony where we sat and ate and talked. The receptionist Natalie was super friendly and even made me come out of my shell. You have to stay here at least once. We slept like babies since...
Charming inn, tastefully and recently decorated. Friendly, attentive staff. Nice touches such as complimentary wine by the fireplace each evening. Excellent restaurant. A lovely find. great location.
My wife I enjoyed a weekend stay at the Upham . It is a fantastic historic hotel that is walking distance to many great restaurants along State street. Our jr suite had a private outdoor sitting area with a fountain, two bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. They have complementary wine tasting in the evening and a beautiful outdoor space to relax. We will definitely return.
What a great little find this was. Well kept premises with a beautiful garden and a 'feel' that it was family run! The complimentary drinks @ happy hour went down well as did the great breakfast. It is a bit of a walk to go right down to the pier at the ocean but there are lots of shops and cafes along the way.
I prefer to stay in historical, charming places, and this is undoubtedly a beautiful spot in easy proximity to downtown Santa Barbara. However, my bed and pillows were rock solid and lumpy (original from 1871, maybe?) and the walls of this place were paper thin, so loud guests staying for a nearby wedding unfortunately made sleeping difficult. In addition, my bathroom sink drain wasn’t working.

Had minor customer service issue that was resolved quickly- a sign of a great place. The location is perfect, walkable to all major shops and restaurants and the beach.
Great room, superb service and staff. Located just down the street from Oliver's if you're vegan and looking for stellar food that surpasses Crossroads Kitchen. Had a great stay!
Great hotel, rooms very comfortable only don’t count much on breakfast, few items on table, no much seating
The CA fires have made this quite a unique experience. Not a lot of other guests. Pool and Jacuzzi are closed because of the ash and poor air quality. This is the hotel that Charlie Chaplin built in 1928. Einstein stayed here, as did Marion Davies, Lillian Gish, Bette Davis and many other very early film stars. There's still that residual vibe from long ago... felt most strongly in the hallways and...
Beautiful, relaxing, comfortable, friendly and conveniently located hotel with a Mediterranean charm. Its a great "oasis" within most popular Montecitto area. The hotel was built by Charlie Chaplin and friends in 1928 as an escape from show business, so it’s filled with history and incredibly collection of black and white photos. Rooms are quite and completely redesigned. Breakfast, fresh paper and...
Beautiful hotel right in downtown Montecito. Immaculate rooms that somehow feel both modern and historical. Had a wonderful time with my kids in the pool for a pre-dinner swim. Location could not have been better-so many wonderful restaurants and shops within a stone's throw.
