We stayed over Labor Day weekend. We loved our Sioux room. It has robes and slippers and a fireplace. Lights in bathroom could be brighter.not sure what happened to the restaurant at Vanessie but besides the buffet breakfast you can't eat or drink there right now. More seating outside the hotel would be nice. Location is great. Wish they would have given us bottled water everyday in our room.

Beautiful place and friendly staff. Our room was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was fresh, with plenty of variety (and we showed up toward the end of breakfast service). Offerings included scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, lots of fresh fruit with yogurt, salad fixings, and breakfast pastries. We felt that the breakfast alone justified the $30 resort fee. We will definitely consider staying here again next time we're in Santa Fe.

Beautiful and charming hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. This was the best hotel during the entire vacation. Comfortable bed, huge shower that gets very hot, everything in the room is beautiful, and tons of great restaurants you can walk to. The only bad point was when another guest went out for breakfast and left their dogs in the room alone. They would not stop barking for about an hour, but we called the hotel, and they took care of it.

We picked Inn at Vanessie based on its ambience and location. Both delivered. The breakfast room is large and airy with soaring walls yet a quaint SW motif. Our suite included an enclosed patio and private courtyard. The patio furniture upholstery was quite dirty so we didn't use the patio. But it was a bonus view for us. Otherwise the living room and bedroom and bathroom were clean and exuded a SW experience. I gave the room 4 stars for two reasons: it was difficult to control the two HVAC with one remote. One tech said they were linked, another tech said they were not linked. Curiously, turning the bedroom unit on and off also turned on the TV. Weird, eh? The other reason was the unexpected "resort fee" of $30/day PLUS tax on that fee (tax on tax?). It just appeared on our credit card with no receipt provided. We had intended to eat at their restaurant and waited at the front door at the posted time of opening, but it never opened and we moved on. The front office later explained it was closed for the summer and have since posted a notice. Don't let these minor issues overshadow that the SW ambience is fantastic and the proximity to local restaurants and services is very walkable.

We spent 3 nights in Vanessie and wouldn't hesitate to return. Our king double was spacious and very well equipped. The breakfast was truly amazing with a huge selection of hot and cold food. Tea / coffee and cake was available all day. Great location as well, 10 minutes walk from the Plaza. The managers and staff were great as well. I've seen some gripes about the resort fee. Coming from the UK I don't really understand a resort fee, why not just add it to the room cost and then advertise "no resort fee"! But it's on the website so it wasn't a surprise. It's not a large hotel but it had everything we wanted and far more.

An amazing stay for our first time in Santa Fe! Unique rooms, ours had a giant shower, bathroom heater, fireplace, and wine glasses prepped to start vacation! Bed was comfortable. There is a restaurant with live music every night. The best part is that it is less than a ten minute walk to several other destinations such as the plaza!

RJ is their receptionist. He is accommodating. Very pleasant young gentleman. The place is cozy and relaxing. Clean and spacious. The only thing that I was looking for is a 2 queen size beds which they don't have.
But no big deal, it is only for a few days. I love it. Fresh air and peaceful.

We stayed here for two nights. It's close to the Plaza and some good restaurants.

Things to know before booking:
-The Restaurant and Piano Bar are closed, and have been for over a year. I couldn't find any mention of this on their web site.
-The $35 Resort fee basically covers on-site parking and a continental breakfast. Very basic, but not bad.
-Maintenance and upkeep of the property appears to be minimal at best

We stayed in the Galisteo room. It was nice. We wanted to stay at a more rustic/pueblo style place, and this room fits the bill. However:
-The room doesn't really match the photos I saw.
-The TV didn't work for our entire stay.
-The room (and other rooms we saw) included a giant swamp cooler in the middle of the floor. It worked, but it's an eyesore.
-In the bathroom shower, the hot and cold are reversed.
-It has a private courtyard and enclosed patio. This would be great, except the courtyard is overgrown and hasn't been weeded in months (judging by the trees growing under the table). It's probably been longer than that since the enclosed patio room was cleaned.

I spoke with several managers numerous times. They seemed nice, but never apologized for anything or even asked how our stay was when we checked out. We won't be going back, and can't recommend it for the premium prices they charge.

I recently filed a claim against Inn at Vanessie with the Santa Fe Better Business Bureau for false and misleading business practices. For starters, they show amenities on their website which aren’t even offered: there’s no restaurant, no bar, no fitness club. This is FALSE ADVERTISING to showcase products and services that aren’t even available – and haven't been for some time. Yet, they have the gall to charge an exorbitant $30 daily resort fee. We’ve stayed at many resorts over the years—Inn at Vanessie is no resort. It’s not even close. Besides the lack of amenities I already mentioned, there’s also no pool, no hot tub, no spa.

As for the continental breakfast, it consisted of nothing more than sweet snacks bought at Costco or some other store. Here's a short list: Brownie bites, cake, cinnamon rolls, Cookies & Cream and Strawberry yogurt, and sweet granola bars. How about PLAIN YOGURT rather than the sugary options they put out? The only fresh fruit were apples that were soft and mealy. In fact, there wasn’t one eatable healthy item on the table, which meant we had to pay for breakfast out every day, which added to the cost of our vacation.

Maybe this accounts for the many negative reviews found online lately. Essentially, Inn at Vanessie is charging guests for amenities that they cannot – or will not – provide, which is misleading and deceptive. On Oct. 19, I emailed the inn and respectfully asked for a refund of $120 for our 4-day stay, and there's been no response. There’s no owner to speak to and the managers on duty are no help at all. It’s shameful (and possibly illegal) that they continue to rip people off by being dishonest about their "resort" amenities, hence this review. They fail to acknowledge emails and don’t seem to care about customer service.

Management’s indifferent attitude should raise a red flag for future travelers who are considering this property. We'd never stay here again or recommend it. You shouldn’t either, or you’ll regret it.

Not sure why this is rated as a 4 star property (as Google has it), but it gets 4-stars from me! We don’t have any deal-breaking issues here.

Starting off with the good:
1. Location: this property is located centrally near any restaurant and bar you might want.
2. Vibes: cute, Santa Fe style and character.
3. Accommodation: The folks at the front desk were friendly and check is in early.

To the not-so-good:
1. Cleanliness: our room was quite dusty and had a few cobwebs.
2. Condition: Our room was in need of basic renovations from new grout in the shower to an updated A/C.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and if we were ever in Santa Fe again, this property would be on our short list.
