Hilton Buffalo Thunder Hotel, Santa Fe1 / 50

Santa Fe, 20 Buffalo Thunder Trail 🧭 Map
After looking around New Mexico and planning a long weekend away, I chose to stay here as it was sort of in the middle of what we wanted to do. The site represents New Mexico perfectly and has fantastic sculptures and decor. It appears to be very clean which is always a huge plus. I was a bit surprised to find that the buffet was shutdown (I usually don't eat at them anyway) and that the main store...
We stayed one night and we're disappointed. Room was not what we expected. Before COVID we use to stay there. Now the room needs updating. No amenities. We just completely not happy. Pillows feel like your are sleeping on logs didn't get a good night sleep. The room was a birthday gift from my daughter. Too bad I didn't enjoyed it.
Hilton Thunder in Santa Fe boasts an excellent location, offering easy access to local attractions while providing a serene retreat. The rooms are well-appointed, and many feature balconies with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The pools are a highlight, providing a refreshing escape with well-maintained areas perfect for relaxation. The hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped and impeccably...
Overall pretty good experience. Beds in rooms were very comfortable with beautiful linens, fluffy pillows and a very comfortable mattress that was just soft enough. Room itself needs a little updating, wallpapering peeling, wear to furniture, and general colors/design look a little dated. Pools were great- large and fun plenty of room to splash around. There was a person at the gate handing out towels...
Fantastic location. Beautiful mountains and sky. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool is great.
Excellent room, very spacious. A tub shower and a separate glass shower in the bathroom, with lights that start dim and get brighter so they don't hurt first thing in the morning. Air conditioning works suitably well. Went to the buffet for dinner. Food was adequate, none of it was particularly special. Just an okay buffet. It's not the best, but you get as much as you want, and there is a good variety...

Friendly helpful staff. Pool and hot tubs, poolside services.
The service was amazing and the location is perfect as it is near all of the Santa Fe landmarks. The rooftop pool is a nice place to relax and have a snack and a drink. My only complaint is the rooms being a bit dated for the price.
Impressive hotel with spacious rooms and a great pool to chill in (not quite one for swimming). The location is fantastic and parking was complementary in my visit. Do not dine here though! There are plenty of incredible options close to the hotel !
The checkin experience was ridiculous. And the front desk manager told me I needed to calm down after waiting more than 15 mins trapped by 2 cars. Bellman came and took the luggage from the car behind me and told those people to go ahead and drive down to valet. It's mandatory valet parking but no one near the hotel entrance to tell you that. I complained at the front desk...once I could move my car...
Rooftop pool and hot tub were amazing. Views from the hotel are incredible. Great gift shop and lounge area near Cava bar. Had breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant. Incredible. So many great places to check out within walking distance of the hotel. Would absolutely visit again and check into the spa this time!
The location of the hotel was great. You were right in the Old Town and everything was just a short walk. Entering the Hotel was everything was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. the restaurant was delicious and so were the margaritas. The pool was beautiful although a bit cold. The staff handled guests that were being rude not being able to drink alcohol in the spa very well as...

I booked a suite with two double beds, and since I was planning to walk all day, I emailed the hotel directly to make sure I would be able to get a room with a bathtub to relieve my fatigue, but unfortunately, because a group of guests had arrived on the day, I ended up with a room with only a shower during my stay, which was disappointing. There was also no coffee maker in the room, so I had to go...
Nice old Santa Fe feel in the lounge, restaurant, bar and room. Great southwestern paintings in the hallways. Good New Mexican breakfasts and dinners, although a bit overpriced. Staff very friendly and easy to deal with. Also there was a free shuttle service to the Santa Fe plaza which we did not use since we had a car.
The hotel shuttle was excellent. Our hats off to our driver Rick! Would not have wanted to walk to the plaza area due to it seemed a little sketchy. So The shuttle took us everywhere and picked us up. The hotel itself had authentic native decor which was nice but it felt old and stale. Service from all the staff was excellent!
The architecture of the hotel was really unique the room was gorgeous.
Hotel was really nice very clean. Very convenient location and safe. Highly recommended
Super nice staff, very dog friendly and some of the kindest guests I've ever met. If you are relying on any of the spa/dog watching amenities listed online, be sure to book in advance as they may not be available. Nice room, convenient location, pretty good restaurant. The shower and furnishings were amazing and they even accommodated a required later check out for us.

I was disappointed in the room, quite cramped, the outside door had gaps around and below that light could be seen from the inside and room for "critters" such as scorpions and others to come in uninvited. For a five-star rated resort, it was a large disappointment.
This was a lovely property with many amenities such as the spa, fitness center, shuttle, restaurant within walking distance to the galleries, shops and restaurants however some of the rooms felt old and dark. The staff was very accommodating when my first room had an old carpet odor. Our second room was much better. My friend also had to change her first location. Fortunately the staff was so helpful...
The convenience was great, but the layout of the room made it impossible to enjoy the fireplace or watch the TV with any comfort. 2 uncomforatble chairs in the corner faced the fireplace, and the TV faced the side of the bed and away from the 2 chairs. The toilet was litereally infront of the sink- we could wash our hands as we went to the bathroom. I think they might want to rethink the bedroom layout
We stayed at La Posada for our one year Wedding Anniversary. Upon arrival your are greeted immediately with complimentary valet parking, which is so helpful since parking in the historic Santa Fe area can be tricky. At check in we were greeted by Hector who knew we were celebrating and upgraded our room. We loved the in room gas firce place and used it every night after exploring the town. The hotel...
We had a wonderful less than 24 hours at La Posada with our 13year old & 2year old Golden Doodle - love that they allow dogs, have multiple restaurants & a heated saltwater pool & hottub. & it's so pretty!!
The star is incredibly friendly and very professional. My room was upgraded without asking and I very much appreciated it.

This is a beautiful property. Our room (casita???) was beautiful and elegant. The staff at the resort were all friendly and helpful. The food at the on-site Terra restaurant was excellent. I highly recommend the Dulce de Leche Warm Cake for dessert, but know that it's big enough for two people, so bring a friend! It was one of the best dessert experiences I have had anywhere.
The Four Seasons property in Santa Fe is an immersive experience. The casitas exude quiet luxury and pamper you with fireplaces and lovely amenities. We enjoyed the friendly staff, from Elijah and Carlos who arranged for our transportation to and from town, to Antonio, Leigh and Danielle at the concierge who helped us organize any detail we needed. Gary from maintenance was my "fireplace butler", and...
Just incredible service from start to finish, beginning with the booking all the way through checkout. Resort is quiet, with excellent views to the Jemez Mountains, 30 miles away. Rooms were excellent--no notes. The resort is wonderfully secluded with great hiking trails behind it up into the foothills of the mountains behind it.
Beautiful property … amazing staff I think that is the most valuable asset of this four seasons. B they made our stay wonderful and went out of their way to make us comfortable.. highly recommend it .
Some of the Four Seasons just never lose their charm, like Rancho Encantado. I have stayed here 6 times and every time I've come away refreshed, relaxed and glad I came. I tend to stay with Four Seasons quite frequently because they're reliably high quality and tend to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is remarkable. I have found some over the years lose that sparkle but Rancho Encantado is one...
First experience at Four seasons rancho encantado was exceptionally wonderful. Local and had never been to this establishment but was invited by some neighbors and thier family. The hotel is very nice but it's not worth the nightly rate. The room is small and the bathroom is tiny. Nicely decorated but not $900+ per night nice. Housekeeping service was excellent. Front desk was nice enough but again not what you'd expect for the nightly rate. I tried reserving a tequila tasting ahead of time and after an initial response was ignored via email. I called and was told to expect...
Same issues as other reviewers…at check out they didn’t give us the $280 credit we were supposed to have. After some back and forth they finally did. This would be understand at other hotel chains, but having stayed at other Rosewoods, this shouldn’t be happening here. The location of this hotel is great. Food was great. Rooms are nice but the finesse needs to be turned up a notch. Our shower head...
This review pertains only to the bar. What a disappointment considering this is a Rosewood property. The overall service, for such a hotel was poor. From the welcome, to the service to the end, we felt as if we were bothering the staff. Hostess barely acknowledged us. Drinks served by being held and not on a tray. No napkins provided. When drinks were finished glasses were not removed. Every interaction...
wonderfully comfortable bed … very high quality specifications in fixtures and fittings … great decor .. wonderful lounges and really nice to see original art around the building . Great that my room had a fire . lovely drinks trolley… lovely individual touches . excellent staff A top class hotel in an excellent location
Stayed here during the 4th of July and had a wonderful experience. The staff was welcoming. Each night there’s turn down service where housekeeping provides water, cookies, and prepares the room for a nights sleep. It’s also right in downtown close to shopping and plenty of restaurants.
Had a lovely lunch which was good but not amazing. Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service. Calm respite on a hot day

The support staff was so kind when trying to help us move a dinner reservation. We really felt their sincerity.
We stayed here for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. If you are looking for a place with interesting history and a cool aesthetic, this is the place for you! We are not looking for a traditional “southwestern” looking hotel, so we were happy to find this gem that is an integral part of Santa Fe history but truly different from others in the area. The rooms are not huge, but beautiful. The bed was very...
Just dropped by to check out for a friend. I was impressed with the cleanliness and charm. The front counter person was very helpful and I had no trouble parking
This is an odd one. The hotel is an old one, but seems to be reasonably well maintained. We stayed in a Deluxe King room, which was spacious. There are no closets in the rooms, with limited storage provided by an armoire, which also houses a small television. There is no artwork anywhere. With the all-white walls and ceilings, it made for a somewhat bleak atmosphere. Despite the large size of the room...
Elegant, austere to the point of monastic. This historic hotel is beautifully maintained. As in most historic hotels the rooms are small but well appointed. Excellent location in the center of Santa Fe. My favorite hotel here. Try the sage smoked margarita, sit outside and watch the world walk by.
5 Stars! My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond. We were welcomed with a chocolate cake, champagne and a sweet card! Since we’re both vegan, they went above and beyond to get us a vegan cake. Plus, the hotel is so romantic and walking distance to everything. Couldn’t be happier! Thank you!

A perfectly charming hotel in the heart of Santa Fe! The staff was very attentive and accommodating. We enjoyed being able to walk to most of the sites, shops, and restaurants in the downtown/plaza area. The rooms were very large and comfortably appointed, however, it’s probably a little overdue for an update to the bathroom and vanity area. A special shout out to Jessica, the guest experience manager...
We had such a nice stay here! The staff were incredible, and the room and location were perfect. We only stayed one night while passing through Santa Fe but we are already planning a return trip to stay longer. Highly recommend!
The staff was awesome! I had left my wallet at home and was very worried that there would be complications getting into our room. It was a complete nothing-burger. The Suite we had was very clean and roomy. the balcony was great. Thanks for a very memorable time in Santa Fe. The Impala on their home page was in the parking garage. Very cool.
Excellent service. Rhiannon and Orlando went that extra mile to ensure our stay was wonderful. Perfect location and very helpful staff

We stayed here so we could go to Meow Wolf the next day. The hotel was conveniently located and it was clean for the most part. The Staff was friendly and fixed our issue with the AC by moving us to another room. The only complaint about the room would be they didn't clean too well under the bed. (We found a dog toy under there). However there were no other issues. I loved the mini shampoo, conditioner...
I'm here for work. It was easy to get there. Fast and easy to check-in online. It was a bit noisy until 1am. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was updated. The room had a smell of stale cigarettes. Nice staff.
We made reservations weeks in advance. We called to confirm our reservations the day of. But when we arrived somehow they no longer had our rooms. My friend that's over 6 feet had to stay in a double bed after he had specifically reserved a king-size. Rooms smelled musty. Walls must be pretty thin because I could hear everything going on outside and around me in other rooms. Beds were pretty comfy...
Hotel smells amazing! This hotel is clean & sanitized. Understanding COVID-19, the breakfast was a granola bar, a single serve snack mandarin oranges AND A CAPRI SUN DRINK! Aren't we grown up s or 10 year old s?? The laundry room is also strange...no change machines, front desk doesn't have any change, how easy is it to go to a laundry with amenities? Other wise, great hotel
This place is very clean and quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is awesome with something for every taste and diet. The fitness room is open 24/7 The pool is tiny but clean and cold. The pool area has towels, chairs and tables.

Loved the room! It was super clean, comfortable and quiet. We had a little bit of difficulty with the bathroom sink drain plug not staying open but nothing we couldn't handle. Will definitely be staying there again.
Recently renovated rooms, with the fake wood floors, nice bathroom, etc. The cleaning crew could have done a better job, there was hair on the floor and in the bed, gritty surfaces (nightstand, etc) that weren't wiped or dusted off.. If you are just looking for a place to crash for an overnight it is good. Plenty of nearby food options.
Rooms are ok for the price and staff were very welcoming . I came for a business trip to santa fe and stayed at this place . I wish they had more items in breakfast instead of just biscuits and gravy . Its a classic hotel with normal amenities . I suggest to keep some pretty girls in the front desk .
Got a really good deal here on NYE using Priceline. Decent beds and helpful staff, but their breakfast gave us all upset stomachs.
I cna't say enough to express my appreciation and thanks to the General Manager Bud, and *all the staff." This is within walking distance of a nice plaza with many different shops and some dining. It is enough distance away to be quiet and relaxing. It does not have many amenities. There is a small fitness center and a BBQ area. You can make use of another property's swimming pool and spa. There are only 16 resort units so it is fairly small; however the units in and of themselves are expansive.
Beautiful location and walking distance to the plaza, museums, restaurants! Love the condo we're in with a full kitchen, outdoor grill and firepit, wish they had a pool/hot tub on site, but they are partered with 'La Posada' so you can go use their Spa for free, but not very convenient...

We loved the Madeleine Inn and our stay there. The inn itself has charm and beauty in abundance. It’s extremely well-organized and managed. Nice, quiet and close to everything in downtown Santa Fe. It’s a Queen Anne Victorian, which is unexpected in SF. The Morning Glory room lacks room darkening drapes or blinds and us very bright. The bed is comfortable, and quality of furnishings is generally good. The attached day spa has great reviews, but I haven’t tried it for myself.
Visited the day spa here. My husband surprised me with a relaxing massage and spa treatment. Wonderful two hours spent getting pampered and refreshed. I had a massage, salt scrub, and rose petal bath. My skin was so soft afterwards and remained so for about a week.
Free parking and free breakfast - definitely more of an inn feel than hotel. Fireplaces in rooms, private patios, very quaint.

This hotel has potential. The rooms are nice and good for the rates. Biggest complaint was with the service and manager. I booked multiple rooms for a long period of time and received a voicemail with the GM thinking our booking was a mistake but would not cancel it even if it was. I am now staying at the doubletree during my business visits.
We like this place. Free night time cookies. Good breakfast bar. It is a little hard to see from the road so pay attention. A nice location that is sort out of the way of busy downtown yet on a major road into town.
Comfort Suites was an excellent choice. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and the staff was friendly and very informative. The free breakfast contained many choices and coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available throughout the day. The location was excellent, close to many stores, gas stations, and even Starbucks!
Very clean, mostly a comfortable bed, and great service at front desk.
To put things in perspective, I was travelling on business. The room was nicely done and large with a separate sofa area (hence the name, "suite"). It was everything I needed and very clean. Plenty of power outlets and the WiFi worked great. The shower was nice and hot. Breakfast was about what you expect -- waffles were probably the best thing and a dispensing container of warm syrup was provided...

Rooftop bar Sunset with a friend fabulous view and atmosphere. Dinner followed in resto downstairs. Beautiful historic atmosphere and wonderful setting with table by fountain. Food was delicious!! Definitely a SF favorite !
The hotel has an extensive history. The walls are covered with artwork, the restaurant is beautiful, and the food is delicious! Don't miss all of the boutiques and specialty shops, especially The French Pastry Shop.
We had our daughter's wedding there in June of 2024. David and his team are top notch. I would give them 5+++ stars if I could. The food was excellent. The hotel and location speak for themselves but without David and his team it would have just been another nice hotel. We definitely recommend having your event at the LaFonda.
Great location and facilities. Breakfast especially good (food and service). The same restaurant for dinner was only average. Helpful staff. Room was efficiently cleaned on request. Parking expensive but very convenient as it is effectively in the same building as the hotel.
It was a very artsy hotel. I love the gallery at the ground floor. Concierge was very nice and helpful to my husband. Other staff were awesome as well. The old couch was a little bit out of place in the sun room(old balcony converted into a sun room).
