Airlie Beach YHA in Airlie Beach

We hired a private room but the bathroom was shared with more people. The kitchen close at 10pm, so you can't access to your fresh food or drinks after this time.
So expensive for the place.

Pretty average hostel, in desperate need of a refresh.

Stayed here in mid-December 2022, whilst the hostel is in a great location and close to the main street of Airlie, the good almost stops there.

Far too many long-term residents, meaning the kitchens and shared areas were always busy and people were not courteous of others (even saw blatant drug use out in the courtyard one night, with staff present). Limited crockery and cooking equipment in the kitchen made it quite busy. Staff were disinterested in helping.

Rooms were dark and bed was extremely uncomfortable. Aircon barely worked and it was definitely needed in the heatwave. Very little storage space so the room was an absolute mess of everyone's stuff everywhere. Individual bathrooms were a nice touch however.

Place definitely in need of a spruce up, will look elsewhere next time.

Terrible rude and unfriendly staff. The manager-on-duty accused me of stealing from the free food section and threatened to call the police. When I told him to review the cemeras they claimed to have to prove to themselves that I infact took MY OWN grocery bag, he stared making up excuses I couldnt understand, never apologized and just kept going around in circles. Do yourself a favor and stay at base backpackers or magnums, friendly staff with integrity, respect and common sense.
