Hotel Koral - Free Parking

Hotel Koral is over at the back of the west end of the old St Kontantin & Helena resort and as such has survived the wholesale demolition and rebuild of the main centre and beachfront of the resort. An older mid-range family hotel with a small to medium sized pool, it's not a bad place to spend a few days. We stayed B&B and the breakfasts are best described as adequate, nothing exciting but not terrible either. Limited toast making facilities! It did suffer from an influx of coach party visitors whilst we were there over the weekend as well as hiring its main dining area out for a wedding, so at times there were so many people we felt a bit pushed out into the open air eating area, a bit nippy first thing in the morning. Our room was on the ground floor at the back, so no sea views and I was a little mosquito nibbled from spending time reading on the balcony (from which some sort of electric motor or pump could be heard most of the day possibly from the next building). Air conditioning in the rooms is of the shared building type and worked fairly well with your own controls on the wall. it's not a long walk to the beach but be aware that a lot of the seafront and beach area is hotel specific.

I was in this hotel in August 2022. It was my first time in Bulgaria and my first family vacation abroad. So I have no experience in holiday hotels abroad in the context of conditions for families, all inclusive, etc. However, I would like to point out that - as the saying goes - I have eaten many things and have stayed in many different hotels in various corners of the world, starting from 1-2 star hotels to the best 4-5 star hotels in the world, e.g. Grand Mercure Ambassador Changwon, Millennium Hilton Seoul (South Korea); Crowne Plaza in Chengdu, Renaissance in Shanghai (China) or Hilton in New York (USA). So I know what to expect from a hotel offering a given standard. What I can say at the beginning is that these 4 stars for Koral are a bit far-fetched. I would rather give it 3.5 - closer to 3. The hotel is not new, it is obvious that it could use some minor revitalization here and there. Which, of course, does not mean that your stay at this hotel will be bad. It is known that the choice of a hotel depends on the budget. If someone has always stayed in super exclusive 5* hotels, they may be disappointed. The price for a week's stay in Koral was one of the cheapest in TUI's offer, while for a 5-star hotel the price almost doubled. What we chose was a family room + breakfast and dinner. We didn't take all inclusive for three reasons. First of all, we didn't really want to be tied to the hotel practically all day - on the principle of "finally paid, so it's time to go back and eat". Secondly - for all inclusive for a family of 4 we had to pay extra PLN 1,300, so we decided that we would rather try to eat something "out". Thirdly, we were a bit discouraged by the opinions that the dinners are always the same, the food is bad, etc. A huge advantage is the fact that there is a Lidl literally around the corner. There we bought water, some snacks, crisps and good Bulgarian beer or other stronger alcohol. The room fridge was great for cooling, so we could relax at the swimming pool without having purchased the all-inclusive program and have a cold beer in the same way, only cheaper ;) As it later turned out, regarding the poor food - at least when it comes to breakfasts and dinners - in our case, it turned out to be untrue. Food was very good. The choice was quite large, everyone could find something for themselves. For dinner, delicious tzatziki was served almost every day. In addition, various meats, cold cuts, cheeses, etc. You could really eat your fill. Delicious soups, different every day. For dessert, tasty cookies and cakes (although some are overly sweet). On the first day after arrival, on Friday, wine was served with dinner (unlimited). However, I don't know if it's a Friday tradition (unfortunately we didn't make it to dinner the following Friday) or if it just happened to us once. For breakfast, for example, very good scrambled eggs. The disadvantages include the fact that the heating in one of the containers containing the dishes did not seem to work properly.
