Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary South

I had been driving all night and wanted to sleep for a few hours before I drove further. They said that there wouldn't be any clean rooms until noon. It's Friday morning in January. There's no way that the entire hotel is full/dirty.

I stayed with my family( including à baby) for 2 nights(13 and 14) , we choose this hotel because of the location and because in their website and during our booking they mention to have cribs available for our stay.
We call the hotel a week before to make sure they would have the crib for us, front desk told us to not worry about it and that it would be there for us when we arrived.
To our surprise after traveling for 6 hours, and wanted to rest, they didn't had the crib for us. Instead, the lady in front desk came to the room with the most dirtiest play pen and saying that she had just started her shift and that literally that was all she had found and that I could take it or leave it. I had to share the bed with baby and not sleep to take care of her,I add some photos of the play pen that they should throw to the garbage and be more respectful to their customers!!

They "offer" a free breakfast,but wouldn't recommend to eat it, you can get super sick, the milk, yogurts, butter, creamers, weren't placed in a bath with ice and stayed for hours without refrigeration .

The pool and the pool area is cold ,so definitely not recommended for families or anyone, better spend your money somewhere else.

Booked because the location was convenient for the activities we had planned while on vacation. First room we were given keys for was a room under construction. Hallways also had a weird odour. there is no microwave except for the one in the middle of the lobby. On the morning of our last day we looked into the nightstand to double check if we had left any belongings and found mould. Informed the front desk and all that was done was they took of photo of the picture on my phone. Super gross to know that’s what was beside the two beds for the two night stay.

During my single night stay I heard the front desk attendant yell at a customer as well as yelling at someone else and had a general overall very rude demeanor.

My wife also twisted her ankle on a weird unmarked ramp on the way to the pool, there is either no showers or change rooms found at the pool or they are hard to find with no signage.

The elevator would also attempt to close the doors very quickly giving you very little time to exit or enter the elevator, which wouldn't be a huge deal but noticed it gave a handicapped guest issues.

But I will say the staff in the breakfast area was awesome and the breakfast was quite good.

Keeping in mind it's an older building so I expected some quirks the room was clean and was comfortable, my only complaint is there wasn't an accessible electrical outlet by the desk so we had to make coffee in the bathroom.

Price online didn't match the actual cost. Pet friendly, so they said and then made me pay $200 deposit and every day deducted $30.00 off if it because we had our cat. Underlying costs seemed to be everywhere. Would not go back again.

UPDATE: Knocked down one start for double charging for the room.
Not bad, but good use some improvement.
To preface, I stayed here for a business trip, so in those instances I often don't complain to the front desk as getting a discount doesn't affect my finances.
Parking pass they give is just a piece of paper cut from a 8 * 11 sheet - didn't look too professional. Room card holders have been reused so much that they were wearing out.
Can't comment on the pool as we were told it wasn't available. The room was clean, but freezing cold until I found the heater and cranked the heat. The TV was fine, but kept disconnecting from the internet when the heater came on, so I chose heat over entertainment. Also, the fridge constantly ran and was super loud so I had to turn down the settings a bit so it would still keep things cold, but not keep me awake.
The bad parts were the toilet barely worked and drained constantly right after I used it. Then I lifted the top of the reservoir and was full of black mold so I fixed it quickly and put the lid back on. I was going to have a bath to relax, but the thought of the mold kept me from spending much time in there.
Breakfast was good and the staff were very nice. Maybe after the renovations this place will be much better, but currently there are better places to stay. I might give it another chance next time I have to come down, or I might go one block away for a different hotel.
UPDATE: Due to the double charge, will be going somewhere else next time.
