Holiday Inn Express Golden-Kicking Horse, an IHG Hotel

Had a king executive room. The swimming pool was very murky and cloudy. The bathroom/kitchen sinks smell like sewage.

I was charged FULL amount while I didn’t actually get to the hotel due to the road closures. I understand I should look for info before booking but for the hotel to absolutely put nothing to hint for that on their website is really frustrating.
The reception told me that they used to make refunds in similar cases but they aren’t doing it anymore!! I honestly believe that’s kind of a greedy way not to get customers to know. At least after we do the booking!!

Booked one night during Christmas, can't be there due to the hwy closed, reach out to Expedia and was told that I cannot even get $1 back since the hotel was sticking to their cancellation policy(24hr notice before cancellation). My friend booked another hotel in Golden, same day, same situation, but got full refund. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL IN WINTER. They just want to follow their rules and it's customer's responsibility to predict weather and when the hwy close.
