This hotel had the typical German architecture. It was in a semi-rural area near Oberammergau where we were going for the passion play. Our room had a nice balcony, separate bedroom, large sitting room and bath. It was not real modern but was comfortable. The food for dinner and breakfast was very good.

We came in with a Viking group for Passionspiele. We got a one bedroom suite in the main building. The bathroom was a disaster, no shower, only a big whirlpool tub, and the whirlpool didn't work, so I'm giving myself a spongebath out of the tub faucet - not fun. The room doesn't have air conditioning - common for the Alps I guess. So your choice is to sleep in a hot room or to open the windows...

We took a Tauck tour to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau, which was amazing. The organizers of the play assign you places for dinner during the break and your hotel accommodations. We stayed two nights last week while visiting to see the Passion Play in nearby Oberammergau. The breakfasts were wonderful and our rooms were great with a separate TV sitting room. Enjoyed the views - wish we had spent more time there!

Quaint, typically Bavarian hotel with restaurant. The staff is very friendly and courteous and always with a smile. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished, with everything you need. The kitchen does an excellent job as our dinner was fantastic. So if you are looking for a cozy hotel with very good cuisine in a quiet location, this is the right place for you. This hotel deserves 5stars. Every corner radiates with beauty and a dedication to detail and quality. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for peace and solace from the nature. Book it with halfboard direct from its website (for two nights at least). It gives you a much better deal.

I was in Johannesbad for a short break. Very nice rooms, good comfortable beds, safe, minibar, etc. Dogs welcome. Fantastic, rich breakfast buffet. Very good food and family owned atmosphere. My room was very nice and I also like the pool and sauna area. You have the choice of a take away lunch instead of breakfast. I liked that because I had to leave early in the morning.

Very quiet location, great farm, with lots of space and a wide view. Very nice and friendly family, we felt very comfortable. We were able to store our bikes safely. Ms. Onnich always suggested the best goals of the day for breakfast, which we were very happy to include in our daily planning. Our first holiday on a farm around March this year was super relaxing! The host family is wonderfully relaxed and natural with a loving Bavarian manner. This is a great Hotel to stay if you want to explore the region of the Ammergau Alps. The service at the hotel is impeccable and the people of the region are very friendly to tourists. This is a quaint hotel right in front of the mountain "Hörnle" - a great area to Ski and sleigh ride. A very comfortable hotel, friendly staff, relatively spacious rooms, good breakfast. Only disappointment was dinner. We were on a package for the Passionspeil and dinner the night before was a set menu that was the worst meal we’ve ever had in a hotel! Cooked hours before and inedible.

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed some spa and wellness. The wellness area is beautiful and I felt very comfortable there. The massage at the hotel was excellent and super relaxing. The food was excellent, including breakfast. The rooms are nice too. There is a lot to do in the area and you can go on great hikes directly from the hotel. We stayed one night during our visit to Oberramergau, Ettal and Linderhof castle. The place was very easy to find. There are enough park spaces on both sides of the building. Andrea of Alpen Gastehaus Gerold is the absolutely the best. We spent 8 glorious days and 7 nights in the Alpen Studio that had very comfortable beds with an amazing view of the Bavarian majestic mountains from our balcony. Everything you could need was provided and we really enjoyed making some of our meals in a well equipped kitchen. Their is a newly opened Edeka supermarket across the street too...

I was there in July 2022 for 2 nights with my family. The room was perfect. The bathroom was clean and the hairdryer was able there. Furthermore, breakfast was very tasty. As for the owners, they were very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this place.

We stayed at this hotel for 8 days. The service was very good, the breakfast excellent. The room was of a good standard, as was the bathroom, if a little on the small side. The location in the village is very quiet and only a few hundred meters from the "center". We will be back, especially because of the rich and high quality breakfast.

The is a great place with big rooms and good bathrooms. Public transportation is right outside the hotel. The hotel has its own parking lot. As I prefer rooms without carpet, the room was perfect for me. Breakfast was well served with coffee or tea. I enjoyed a week with very friendly hosts.

It is a quiet, simple inexpensive hotel, offering the exact same selection for its decent free breakfast of breads, cold cut meats, sliced cheeses, boiled eggs, yogurt and Muesli, with juice and coffee. The hotel has breakfast from 8a-10a everyday. Because we were heading out before 8am the staff put out breakfast at 730am for our family and some other guests. They are accomodating and friendly. They also speak very good English.
