Parkhotel Sonnenhof in Oberammergau

We had a great stay at the Hotel. Super location on outskirts of town. Quiet. Room was very comfortable and large with separate sitting room, bathroom, bedroom and huge balcony with a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. Plenty of easy parking and we used the Indoor Pool. Also, secure storage for bikes. Hotel bar & restaurant is not open on Thursday and Fridays but plenty of places to eat in vicinity. Breakfast was pleasant and can be taken inside or outside on the large terrace, Lots to do in local area cycling, walking and sightseeing

Extremely nice food and big portions, on Sunday for breakfast smoked salmon and Prosecco, amazing selection of cheese, nice rooms, small but warm and clean pool and sauna, beautiful views, location 3 min from centre and by the river. Much better choice to stay there and drive to Gapa then stay in overpriced Gapa

I stayed in this hotel in July. As I travelled with Deutsche Bahn, I took a bus from the train station, because of the heavy luggage (Oberammergau was not my only stop). I was glad to see that there's a bus stop near the hotel. From the station you can take any bus driving to Linderhof, Garmisch, and so so on, for they all stop there, at the parking near the little river in front of the hotel. I was warmly welcomed and I was glad and surprised to discover that I got a free upgrade of my room. I booked a double room single use and got a 45 mt. apartment at the top floor! The elevator doesn't go to this upper floor, so I had to make the last steps on a staircase, but I was asked, if I had a problem with that. The apartment consisted of an entrance, a double room with balcony with mountain view, a large bathroom with two windows, a room to store luggage, a living room and a little single room. Both the double room and the living room had a TV and a bottle of mineral water with two glasses. On the balcony there was a table with two chairs, and night illumination: it was really wonderful to spend some time in the evening there. The breakfast buffet is very good and the same restaurant serves dinner (you can choose the daily menu or a la carte) in the evening and is a bar/cafe during the afternoon. It also has an outside terrace. Dishes are very tasty and abundant and the restaurant staff is very kind. There's a fitness room, a very small swimming pool with very long opening times and perfect water temperature, sauna, and so on. You can borrow a bathrobe and pool towel from the reception. For the rainy days there are also some living rooms at the reception floor. You can hire bikes at the reception (unfortunately the day I planned for a bike tour it was raining!) and the prices are fair. I had a great stay at the hotel and I hope to stay another time there in the future. It was one of my best stays ever.

We traveled and the weather wasn’t the best but we spent a great time. Shoutout to the kitchen/waiter personnel because they went above and beyond for us, traveling with a child that is a very picky eater! They even pulled out a piece of cake and 3 candles for his birthday that was the morning of our leave! Super satisfied! Rooms are comfy and clean, the view is amazing and the city is out of a fairytale! Only downside is that they don’t offer lunch but breakfast is more than filling!

A beautiful hotel with staff who couldn’t be more helpful. The room was large with a balcony overlooking the valley. The spa had a nice sauna and small plunge pool. The restaurant had a hearty breakfast and good menu for dinner. Located with a 5 minute walk into town.

We stayed here for 2 nights when visiting Oberammergau for the Passion Play. Hotel very comfortable and extremely well organised for the Play, with the meal arrangements superbly arranged. The staff all very friendly and helpful. The best thing for me was the fabulous views from the terrace and our room, beautifully surrounded by the Alps and the river and the lovely small town of Oberammergau. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed at this hotel as part of the Passion Play tour package. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Great location, just a few minute walk to the center of town, quick access to many walking trails as well. Breakfast and dinners served at the restaurant was very good.

We had a 2 night stay as part of a Passion Play package. As others have said, the location is perfect. 10 minute walk to the theater and the Bahnhof. The front desk staff was organized, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is amazingly clean. Our room had recently been updated and the bathroom was gorgeous. Great breakfast buffet and dinners in the restaurant. Great ambience, friendly servers, yummy food. It was pouring rain the day we left and the staff arranged to have our bags delivered to the Bahnhof for us. It was much appreciated. My only slight negative had to do with the mattresses. Two twin mattresses on a full platform, which created a gap in the middle. Made for creative sleeping. But otherwise loved our stay and would return.

Stayed 3 nights with a tour group. Hotel is very well located. Oberammergau is a lovely quiet little town. The rooms are a good size, very comfortable and very clean. It's a warren of rooms and corridors but doesn't take long to find your way and is well sign posted. Friendly welcoming staff and a good breakfast

Very relaxing and elegant place, also the restaurant is excellent.
